Ask @peteplaysmusic:

Hey Pete, I've seen that you use an Edirol UA-25 and Yamaha HS7. I have the same setup at home, but it creates some horrific buzzing noise when connected to my PC. When I use my Laptop the noise is not nearly as bad. Did you have similar issues or any advice for me?

Yep! I had exactly that issue. I hesitated to upgrade to a different interface but as soon as I did, all my noise issues went away. Its something to do with ground loops but I never found a fix other than just replacing the Edirol. The HS7's are fine, the buzzing comes from the interface. I'd recommend the Focusrite 2i4 2nd Generation as an upgrade :)

Hi Pete , I'm a big fan of yours . I am Spanish and I am the son of a luthier of electric guitars . I've been playing guitar self-taught since age 6 , so I have a considerable level. I would like to know how to improve my level, because teachers in my town are not very good and teach very basic thin

Find a player or teacher you like online and see if they offer Skype lessons. Or, sign up for something like the Andy James Guitar Academy :)

Hey man! Whats your opinion on Reason for drum tracks? I've been using it but some people suggest me to change it for EZ2 or Superior... And what do you think about the EZ2? Love your videos, keep it up and greetings from Argentina!

I've never tried EZ2 but I use the EZX expansions with Superior 2 and they're great. I never really liked Reason, it's fine but I find the interface incredibly annoying! Thanks for watching! :)

Hello, Pete! I want to buy a Scarlett 2i4 (2nd Gen) to create my own music: record guitar and bass with Bias and use Superior Drummer for drums. Do you think it's a good choise? I want clear fat guitar tone, like Gojira, Toska or you :D. Can I get them with that kit? Tnx for answer in advance!

SladkoeYshko
Great choice. I use one myself. They come with a bundle of plugins too, but you'll have to buy Bias and Superior separately :)

Hi, pete its more of a really needed advice, like how do you have soo many guitar without trading/selling them how do you keep on buying them I have to beg my parents for A SET OF STRING..... is Britain not that expensive or your rich( sorry for going to personal) HELP just want a great collection

I'm very lucky that I had very supportive parents when I was a kid and just starting learn how to play. And yes, in the begging when I was young they bought a bunch for me over the first few years. It's not about the amount of guitars you have though, it's more about how you use what you already have. Practice hard and show your parents you truly love playing guitar. Save up for new strings and only replace them when you need to. Hope that helps a keep rockin' :)

Hey Pete I got a line 6 X3 live for christmas (so i guess i want be getting bias after all) and the ibanez rg 652fx(i know you thought ltd but i couldnt help my self. Wanted the hp wizard neck) but i was wonder what pick do you use Jazz III nylon or Stiffo and you could recommend some tone settings

Standard red Jazz III for me. The X3 had a cool 5150 setting, I can't remember many of the presets though. If you can download the 'Big Bottom' patch from the Line 6 website, I used to use that one all the time on my POD XT :)

Hello Peter! Please help me to choose my first electric guitar which one should i choose? Jackson RRT3 LTD MP600 chapman ghost fret LTD EC401 i would like to make covers of bands like Metallica , Pantera , Bullet For My Valentine , you ( :D yup u are a whole band ) , Judas Priest , Iron Maiden THX

All are great really. I haven't got much experience with Jackson so I can't really say on that one though. If you want active pickups either, of the LTD's would be great. If you want passive pickups, get the Ghost Fret although, the LTD's have a preferable scale length. All three of those are outstanding so which ever you choose will be great! :)

Hey thanks for the honest prs review! What If i don't plan on going below drop A? Will the tension still be an issue? And u mind recommending esp or schecters? I'm also considering the hellraiser c7. Thanks!

You'll more than likely get an annoying bend in pitch as you hit the string. It'll initially go sharp and return to pitch straight afterwards. It's more apparent on guitars with tremolos like my Ibanez Apex. You may be able to work around it by using your ear to tune the string slightly flat, or you could try beefing up the string gauge. In my experience though, the best solution is a 26.5 to 27 inch scale length. The Schecter you mentioned looks great and I'd recommend the ESP LTD E-II HORIZON NT-7B BLKS also. The only down side would be the active pickups but you can always replace them :)

Hey Dude! Since you use PRS sometimes, what are your thoughts on the PRS Custom 7 string? Thanks! http://www.amazon.com/PRS-SE-Custom-24-7-String/dp/B00EUI3UGE/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1450862336&sr=8-6&keywords=PRS+Custom+7+string

I love PRS but honestly I'd look at another brand for 7 strings. PRS use a 25 inch scale length on all their guitars which is fine in standard tuning but for down tuning and 7 strings, I think you need a longer scale length. 26.5 inches is ideal, it makes soloing slightly harder but keeps higher tension on the strings to improve tuning stability and intonation. ESP and Schecter make some great ones and Ola England's Washburn Signatures are great too :)

Hey Pete, You have really got me motivated to try record my own stuff. Tried guitar and bass, but for a whole piece I'm missing the drums - I don't know where to start. What software should I use (preferably cheaper one, at leas for now)? Do I need a MIDI controller? Where and how do I begin?

Nikita Yeryomin
You just need a DAW recording software and Toontrack EZ Drummer 2. Great software and really easy to get started with. You don't need any kind if MIDI controller, just your computers mouse :)

Hey man its Killroom. So I have been trying to decided between Ibanez and LTD for my new guitar purchase. I have around $1000.00 us to play with. I will be mainly playing metal. I was looking at the LTD 1000's series and ibanez RG series. Also I am torn between BIAS fx or a line 6 floor pedal?

Definitely go for Bias FX unless your playing Live. Both the LTD's and Ibanez are great in that price range. I'm an RG fan but I'd recommend the LTD's because they're built like tanks and are easier to maintain :)
