It's the family of the murdered person who is left to pick up the pieces and the ones who are punished in the end. Also the recent case of the guy that took ages to die? That was barbaric and there's no saying it won't happen again- we don't know the pain they go through when being executed

yep in that case he was tortured before he died basically. idc if you're a terrorist in Guantanamo bay being water boarded or a murderer receiving a botched lethal injection, torture is inhumane and unacceptable. so is killing someone.
yet they're saying let's kill someone, because they killed someone else, and killing is wrong! right...

..plus in America for example it's undeniable that there is extreme racism (esp police) so your chances of living or dying are also based on your skin colour. How can that possible be justifiable? Not to mention the obvious that once you're dead, you're dead lol like that's not a punishment (c)

The death penalty will never be an acceptable punishment I agree with you! In the end, your life is literally hanging on how good your lawyer is, and many people who commit crimes are poor and can't afford a good lawyer/representation, so whether you die or live is literally based on your wealth..

In theory the death penalty should be cheaper than life in prison. Wouldn't you rather see the money spent on elevating the symptoms of crime than keeping someone locked up? The burden of proof should be higher for the death sentence but to remove it could be very costly.

it's not tho it costs a lot of money to put someone through the whole system. i'd rather less people locked up for petty crimes and for them to have to do community service instead and save prisons for genuinely dangerous criminals (rapists murderers paedophiles etc). Regardless of cost nah id actually rather see someone locked up than killed haha i don't believe it should be a form of punishment for all the reasons i listed.

so many reasons including but not limited to
- it's plain barbaric, first of all, for a country which is meant to be so developed and civilised
- what if they were actually innocent, some people on death row have been found innocent and eventually released, this has happened quite a few times actually maybe 100+ times in my lifetime (idk exact statistics) that's over 100 innocent people who would have otherwise been killed. You can take an innocent person out of jail but you can't bring them back to life.
- it's all about retribution and revenge not justice. someone is being killed because killing is wrong? it doesn't make sense. that is not justice. we don't rape rapists or beat up people convicted of assault
- it's not really a punishment for them is it, as they'll be dead? it's more of a punishment on their family and loved ones who have done nothing wrong
- arguably it would be a better punishment for them to serve a life sentence and live w/ what they've done for the rest of their life
- p sure quite a few (again idk stats but I've heard of cases) ppl on death row ended up there (as opposed to life sentence or st less harsh) because they are poor and can't afford a decent lawyer or they a person of colour who may be subject to racial prejudice (look up linda carty btw)
- it can go wrong and end up being torture which actually happened recently w/ a lethal injection
- studies have shown that it probably isn't any more of a deterrent compared to a life sentence
- in fact it has been shown to brutalise society and murder cases are higher in states w/ capital punishment

he was a good scientist tbh like he must have been an amazing chemist i don't think he's evil bc yeah ppl have died taking ecstasy but thts their choice to take it haha it's illegal for a reason n by taking it they're making a choice they have to accept that something bad might happen. so. yeah. honestly tho i didn't know much about him!
