I was halted, chest hallowed in aches. I looked her in the eyes as she slowly took a deep breath.
"You see, you only realize that you love me when you're like this — sad and disconnected from the world. You only love me when you feel that everything is close to slipping through your fingers again and when you're seconds away from hitting rock bottom. You only love me because I am your escape. I am your go-to destination when life fucks you hard all over again. So, you don't love me at all. You just perceive me as someone who can always listen to your problems, is always there for you, always comforts and never ignores you. And that's what you mistaken as love."
