"We see the world through ourselves, therefor our selves are our worlds" - How do you interpret this quote and do you agree with it?
"we see the world through ourselves"
so our reality is shaped by our subjective experienced.
detour- this reminds me of this cool theory I read about for sociology. so so sapir-whorf theory, our reality is shaped by our language. I'll give you an instance: in the urban areas we reside in, we have limited names for the colour green. But for people who have hunter gatherer life styles, they have a greater variety of names for the colour green. So when we're tasked to distinguish between various shades of green, we cannot do so, but the hunters can. This is because language forces us to pay attention to certain concepts. This theory tickles my fancy a lot, c'est jolie.
anyway, just because we experience reality in a subjective manner does not mean reality is a reflection of ourselves; rather we experience life in our own limited world. However I can see beyond the reality of my own perceptions should I choose to do so. I could debate with anti-islamists, pro trump/Hillary/shiv sena etc etc, and place myself in their shoes. And by genuinely making an attempt to understand others, we shift our reality, develop a sociological imagination, and understand our own perception of reality better :)
