Should law enforcement base its way of operation with more regards to moral standards (such as forgiveness, humility, kindness, etc)? Why / why not?
Yes they should. Although justice is important, most of the time mercy is even more. Prisoners are often mentally ill and sticking them in a place with other similar people could potentially ruin them for life.
Instead rehabilitation would be better, or even mental asylums. Never death sentences, which leaves no room for redemption.
In punishing bad behaviour we should be careful not become monsters ourselves.
Can you see the heart of a man? His essence? Our judgement is so shallow I don't see how true justice is accomplished.
"Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord ."
