Do you have any idea how Monica Rial has the time to do all the work she does? She is consistently doing a lot of work for both you and Funimation. It's genuinely impressive.
Good question, but no idea. You will probably get a better deal through the Sentai Shop. We also, at times, offer eNews exclusive discounts to our email subscribers. https://shop.sentaifilmworks.com/
So I'm sure ya'll are quite aware of how many hearts you'll crush if you don't dub Squid Girl's season season... If hypothetically you do end up dubbing it, what are the odds the OVAs will be dubbed as well? Just curious!
If the rest of a series gets a dub, we try to dub the OVA if materials are available. (You know how, sometimes, OVAs are released WAAAAAAY... WAAAAAAAAAAAAY after a series airs?)
Hello Sentai! I'm a huge fan of your releases and I was hoping you could dub School Live, Tanaka-kun is always listless, Flying Witch, Haikyuu, Haven't you heard, I'm Sakamoto and Flip Flappers. If any of these would get premium editions I would be ecstatic! I really hope you'll reply :).
Ok, so I just noticed you can't answer questions about unannounced dubs and licenses, so I will ask you about the chances of seeing a Haikyuu dub, an Oregairu Dub, a Blue Spring Ride dub (this show is surpsiginly popular now) and a Shirobako dub would be nice too + A Wolf Girl & Black Prince dub.
Also I have another question for you, which titles ended up being pleasant surprises in terms of popularity this year? I totally wasn't expecting Flying Witch to be my favorite anime of the year and Tanaka-kun is always listless to be my second favorite. They're both also really popular, so yay!^.^
Flying Witch was DEFINITELY a surprise this year. Also surprising was Flip Flappers! We thought it was going to be a normal magical girl show, and then BAM! SO MANY THINGS! EVERY EPISODE DIFFERENT THEME. This screenshot below for example looks like NOTHING from any other magical show we've seen, and it's been an amazing ride so far. You should check out the series when you get a chance.
Any chance for a LE box set of some more popular older series? I would love a LE box set of Clannad or K-On!
Holy crap School Live! Kicked me the chest. Great job! Hopefully one day it gets a dub so I can make my dub only friends watch it hah! Otherwise I guess I'll have to beat them with a shovel and make them watch it anyway.
No word on the dub, but the requests do keep coming in. Glad you liked it. Do you need ice for that kick on the chest?
Dear Sentai Ninjas,
For the upcoming release of Chihayafuru on BD, please make a collector's edition with actual karuta cards. I'll pay good money for it.
Good question! It quite literally means the home video DVD or Blu-Ray release to retail. A dub COULD be included in a release, but not all of Sentai's home video releases come with a dub.
Anime at the Alamo in Houston has been getting cancelled a lot lately. Should we be worried about the future of the event?
It's mostly due to conflicting schedules with the theater venue itself. They have franchise-wide showings they have to deal with, so at this point, no worries.
There are a lot of factors that go into that decision, but the two of the biggest factors are: 1. Viewership numbers on legal streaming sites 2. Fan demand (It makes no sense to a dub a show that people aren't clamoring for.)
The first season of that (we've localized this title as "When They Cry - Higurashi") is currently released as a dub, but we did not dub the subsequent seasons.
Any chance of a dub for "My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu" or "The Pet Girl of Sakurasou"? Figured I'd at least show interest.
Thank you showing interest :) Every time you mention a title, it helps, but at this point, no plans can be revealed.
Regarding The Anime Network, since you have licenses for Latin America, when will you make a platform for Spanish/Portuguese user?
If not, are you planning contracts to LatAm broadcasters to put series in those plataforms, like you're doing with TubiTV or Hulu?
Thanks.
Some of the Sentai nearcasts/simulcasts are currently available on Anime Network Online with Spanish/Portuguese subtitles. Select shows (including RIN-NE 2, Flying Witch, and Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto) can be found here: SPANISH: http://www.theanimenetwork.com/Watch-Anime/Search?query=spanishAnime Network Online will broadcast when Spanish and Portuguese subtitled shows are available to stream.
Will we see more anime at the Alamo in the future?
There is a free Anime at the Alamo showing every Tuesday at Alamo Drafthouse in Katy (caveat: except for when the theater itself cancels the showing), but the hosted screenings are roughly once per month. We're doing a hosted screening of Aoharu x Machinegun on Tuesday the 8th. We can't speak for other Anime at the Alamo's in other cities.
If I remember right, you announced a C.E. of my love story. When will the details be revealed? Or am I incorrect?
There IS a Collector's Edition coming for My Love Story!!, but we haven't released the details yet, not can we say when we'll be able to. Just yet. But it's going to be awesome.
Regarding Long Riders and Stella no Mahou, why you didn't have streaming rights for Latin America, like you did with Classicaloid, Flip Flappers or Gi(a)rlish Number (although the problem here was Daisuki.net)?
There are a number of factors that go into licensing for various territories. In this case, we are the master licensor for Flip Flappers, ClassicaLoid, etc.
Unfortunately, the Gatchaman Crowds insight release does NOT include the season 1 OVA "Embrace." It's something to look into, but the upcoming release doesn't have that particular asset.
