How do we fix out abused and raped well fare system?
Great question and I'm honored you want my opinion. With that said, it's a tough thing to really fix. Here's my take:
I think the most important thing in repairing our welfare system is education. Public K-12 education is such a joke in this country. Those who receive poor education are those who usually end up needing welfare to support themselves. We need to allocate more money towards overhauling the public education in poverty stricken areas. We need to spend less money on things like defense and focus more funding on education, because it's a joke.
That would help greatly, but it won't solve the poverty problem. We will still have the poor who need assistance. So a few smaller things that are necessary:
1. Welfare should be limited to basic needs, without allowing for the money to change hands or be used on unnecessary items.
2. Contraception should be available for no cost.
3. Mandatory drug tests for anyone on assistance.
I could name a dozen more, but those are a few I see as important. I find it funny how conservatives call themselves generous but don't want to redistribute money to the poor. The trickle down effect is a lie and not pragmatic. So there's my two cents.
