Recommend me some good books!!

1-The Paradox Of Choice: It shows hows you how today’s vast amount of choice makes you frustrated, less likely to choose, more likely to mess up, and less happy overall, before giving you concrete strategies and tips to ease the burden of decision-making.
2- The one Thing: (a) Not everything matters equally, (b) Multitasking is a lie. (c) Discipline is a result of habit. (d) Willpower is a finite resource. (e) Big is bad

3- Meet Your Happy Chemicals: Know what happiness is actually. A MUST READ.
4-Unlearn: Discard old beliefs or approaches that are no more working and replace them with new ones
5-Grit:Talent + effort = skill. And skill x effort = achievement. Effort counts twice — it builds skill and it makes skills productive
6- A Long Walk to freedom: An autobiography of Nelson Mandela, detailing his ascent from an anti-apartheid activist and Robben Island-jailed terrorist, to ANC leader and a cultural icon.
7-Atomic habits: In this book author explains how small small changes can give huge results over time and habits are not formed overnight but develops gradually
These are books i have read and found worth sharing.

How come the older I become, the more I distance myself from the liberal views? When I was a teen, which wasn't that long ago considering I'm only 21, and highly influenced by tumblr (lol) I used to have some views that now I consider absurd, for example not sleeping w/a trans person makes u a bigot

I think it's due to having a more mature perspective on the world and not just following along with groupthink. The views are getting more and more absurd, to the point people are denying the fact that biological sex exists.
Wokesters are brain-washing the young, and are going to drive teen lesbians and gay guys back into the closet by harassing them to have sex with people they don’t want to have sex with. I’m seeing the clock of social progress turned back 30 years.
I swear there is this specific breed of mostly american / american social justice "activist" type of hyperonline woke person now who all act morally superior to everyone but who's “activism” only matters to them when it ends in hurting someones feelings or chasing them off platforms.
The ideological inconsistencies start becoming more obvious once you realize that negativity is the one constant in some people's interactions with the world and other people in it and as long as it's not them being called out or publicly harassed, then they're fine with it.

What’s the dumbest thing someone has argued with you about?

dillonholland1999’s Profile PhotoDillon Holland
🧠 Daft argument (conspiracy theory, religious, and party-political arguments aside) :
📖 I used to have a guest book chat/message board on my music website.
❓ Visitors would post comments or ask questions about my songs and albums etc, and it was quite good for a while.
🐬 Then a lady responded to the discussion with “THIS IS ALL VERY WELL BUT WHAT ABOUT THE DOLPHINS”
🎼 I responded that much as I liked dolphins (except for the ones that are little shites and kill baby porpoises) this was a music site, regarding my songs and performances.
🐬 Yes, she replied, but I don’t care about all that, I want to know what you are doing for the dolphins.
🐮 This just went on and on until I had to explain frustratedly that although I had been an animal rights activist at one point, this was not the correct forum to discuss dolphins.
📖 She just didn’t get it. Eventually I removed the guest book due to inane comments and mass marketing spam.

What is something you believe in? Just anything🌼

QueenEJ’s Profile PhotoAmóre
I learned from Hussain how to achieve victory while being oppressed.
-Mahatma Ghandi, social activist & leader
In a distant age and climate, the tragic scene of the death of Hosein will awaken the sympathy of the coldest reader.
-Edward Gibbon, English historian
If Hussain had fought to quench his worldly desires.. then I do not understand why his sisters, wives and children accompanied him. It stands to reason therefore, that he sacrificed purely for Islam.
-Charles Dickens, English writer
Karbala symbolizes the true face of struggle against injustice- non-violent resistance. Not taking life but sacrificing your life for Islam.
-Ignaz Goldziher, Hungarian orientalist scholar
No battle in the modern & past history had earned more empathy and admiration as well as provided more lessons than the martyrdom of Husayn in the battle of Karbala.
-Antoine Bara, Lebanese writer
The sacrifice of Imam Hussainع is not limited to one country, or nation, but it is the hereditary state of the brotherhood of all mankind.
-Dr Rajendra Prasad, Indian scholar
Denied even water for the children, they remained parched under the burning sun and scorching sands, yet not one faltered for a moment. Husain marched with his little company, not to glory, not to power & wealth, but to a supreme sacrifice, and every member bravely faced the greatest odds without flinching.
-Dr. K. Sheldrake, English writer (who converted to Islam)
The best lesson which we get from the tragedy of Karbala is that Husain and his companions were rigid believers in God. They illustrated that the numerical superiority does not count when it comes to the truth and the falsehood. The victory of Husain, despite his minority, marvels me.
-Thomas Carlyle, Scottish historian and essayist

Whats something 'common' you hate the most?

'Misandry' in the name of 'Feminism'.
💌 I feel man-hating is something all silly creatures internalize very quickly as if it's a fundamental step to become a feminist, 'equalist' or an activist / advocate of rights of sorts. Be it randomly degrading, trolling or throwing titles online or taking a dig at them in public.. And oh let's not forget about the false accusations, allegations & lawsuits that few poor innocent men have to battle with when defaming reports are legally filed against them, how they're & can be easily victimized & tortured because of the power which is unjustified & given to pseudo-feminists. Women aren't the naive victims always, they can be very, very malicious if they are evil or when they decide to become evil.
The main problem / root cause is our unjust-hypocrite-diplomatic & bias Society! Old dysfunctioned societies created baseless & irrational stereotypes, stigmas / taboos & traditions that have been & still are being penetrated to our minds. Just like woman they put an intense pressure, duty / responsibility over men as well & that's why everyone expect a lot from each other!
Somehow people ignore or maybe just don't care about men because they 'expect' them to be strong, dominating & act 'masculine'.. Men have feelings, they can be a victim & they can be fragile, feminine vulnerable too & it's not bad nor it should be looked as strange, weird or abnormal.. Stop treating men so insensitively. Men aren't aliens, after all they're human beans as well.
SOLUTION✨: HAVE LESS EXPECTATIONS!
Don't expect men (or any other living entity) to 'act' or behave in a certain / typical way or manner all the time!
(i.e Don't expect men to be 'manly' / 'macho' or expect them to earn more than their spouses & dominate them to not fall in the category of 'puppets' or get the most humiliating title of being a 'rann / zann mureed') when they're not & are in their best state of mind or are going through an extremely tough phase at that time.
🔗Abba (Adam) needed Ama Hawwaa (Eve). It's a fact that Allah swt created a 'Man' first but woman was, is & will forever be his creature's need, she's never a slave & it's a fact too! They complete each other. We can still grow without pushing each other down, we all need each other to evolve, thrive & live happily!
I believe a woman is strong, powerful & influential enough to cause a war but she can lead to victory too! The very first woman (eve) was the reason why we all came into existence & apparently she's the reason why & how this chaotic world and humanity began. ➰ According to Bible & Our Holy Book Quran; "The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground & breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. God then called the man Adam, and later created Eve from Adam's rib."
Even Adam & Eve's story manifests that after some while a man needed a woman even when he was chilling in Heaven & then he got cancelled by god too while being a 'favorite'.. 💁💟⚡️

I've been v anxious but good overall.
I had plans to take on my area's activism group when it branched off into smaller groups but I had plans to do that around now or early next year. Then someone else who wasn't experienced enough took it over and she made me do all the work when I wasn't ready to bc it was too early in the year and wasn't at the time I had planned to do so. I told her I was overwhelmed bc I was working full time and doing activism in my spare time which wasn't even spare time due to me doing things like skipping cooking, eating etc. In order to have enough time to do the tasks she landed me with. So I asked for a break AND SHE QUIT! So I've been doing everything on my own and I'm stressed bc if she had never taken over prior to me wanting to, I would have had time to find other activists to help out and we would have all just spent a few minutes a day doing it rather than one activist needing to dedicate hours a day.

Wisely said, dear brother. Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are we doing for others.

Ashraful Muku
Absolutely! Success isn't just about what you accomplish in your life. It's actually about what you inspire others to do! It's a gospel truth that our lives are not eternal. But the good things you do for others remains as a legacy. On the other hand, the things you just do for yourself are gone when you're gone. To borrow from the divine mind of The Dalai Lama, "If you serve others as fully as you can, what you do will be a source of inner joy." There are a lot of things in life that provides us joy. Getting yourself a gadget that you always wanted to have or finally cooking that perfect lasagna or say, your dance video becoming viral overnight, but what is real happiness is the feeling that you're the reason why someone else is smiling & living a contentful life today. Mother Teresa devoted her entire life in the service of poor ailing people. And, that's the reason why we know her today. She used to say that "Not everyone can do great things but we can do small things with great love." Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from your very own country used to say that "My greatest strength is my love for my people." Even in the present times, there are a lot of young people who are devoting a good part of their life in the service of others. Malala Yousafzai is a prominent activist for right to education; precisely girl education. In fact, she continues to be the youngest ever Nobel laureate surpassing Lawrence Bragg, the Australian-born British physicist who won it at the age of 25. The founder of Microsoft Corp. Bill Gates was the world's richest person once & still continues to feature in that list. The Bill & Melinda Gates foundation is reported to be the largest private foundation in the world with a goal to enhance healthcare, education & reduce extreme poverty & it's already doing a great job in African & South Asian countries. You see, the world doesn't need successful people, the world needs people who are successful in helping others.

What do you think of hedonism, and living a life in pursuit of purely hedonistic pleasures, and not being concerned about the burdens of politics and achieving justice, etc?

Hakim Freethinker
As great and peaceful this sounds, I don't think I can live like that. It's just... not me. I am not and I don't want to be a politician or an activist or a public influencer or anything like that, but I still want to have my personal opinions about things, care about my society,...etc. Even on just the personal level. In a previous question I received earlier about my political beliefs, I said that ppl of Egypt aren't allowed to have any. That was me being sarcastic. Everyone (myself included) have different kinds of views and opinions, it's just that if this view is anything other than "Hail the Pharoah" you might very well get arrested lol. That being said, I believe our ruling regime would be very glad if our ppl converted to hedonism 😂 they just don't want anyone to talk about politics or even mention the word justice lol

1. The fat activist shit is full of lies discouraging people from going to the doctor and taking care of their health
2. Morbid obesity is not healthy in any way, shape, or form and it shouldn't be accepted as a fact of your life. It should be something to overcome for the sake of your fucking heart & joints.
3. I was fat. I lost weight. I'd fucking kill myself if I ever got to 300+ pounds because I'd be fucking immobile. My joints were shit at 240, they're still shit now but they feel better than they did and they'll continue to feel better as I continue to lose weight.

Since you have lgbt in your nickname, are you doing anything for lgbt community? I thought that you are an association person ot activist because of that. 😂

*TRANSLATION*
Question of the Day: ● Do you believe in the so-called fateful sign? Why? ● Has something similar happened to you? If so, how and what was it?
* * *
Not in a superstitious way ; but usually , often I can see things coming . . . . like black clouds ~
~ like, way back on SCOTTISH referendum day ; a Liberal Party activist phoned me . . .
(they where stupidly backing 'NO')
Knowing their stance, I was in no mood to chat . . . . finally , I exploded: "fuk, can't you see what is going to happen? ~ If Scotland doesn't get it's independence, it's guaranteed, we're all out of Europe, you idiot !!"
*STUNNED SILENCE*
~ and then ~ she said: "Oh no, we would never allow that . . . "
*ARROGANCE*
(quite simple: if England was on it's own, Cameron would never even have allowed a Euro-vote .
If arrogant Cameron whacked the Scots though -which he did- he would think he could do the same with Europe.
And arrogant Cameron (and all Tories & Libs) is/are oblivious to the fact that 30%+ of the population are pig-stupid, 30%+ are to lazy to vote, 30%+ are reasonable, caring, rational, intelligent . . . nor could the stupid politicians see the harvest that was waiting , from the seeds of lies they had been sowing since we joined EU, blaming them for all their own inadequacies . . . . had sown seeds of hatred into the hearts of the stupid , against our salvation that was Europe ~ 36% as it transpired . . . .
~ to me , it was rock certain , written in stone . . .
~ What did Jesus say? ~ "he that wringeth the nose, shall certainly bring forth blood"
~ THIS , is a 'fateful sign' ~
* * *

* ОЧЕНЬ СИЛЬНІСТЬ *
* АРГОРИНГ *

Jahilo ki baat par amal jahil hi kiya karte hain. Tumhara is baat par information rakhna aur logon tak phelana bohat sahi hai

I want to remind you only, that Marx was a rich jew, who has never experienced poverty and came up with all his theories while sitting in the reading room of the British Museum. It boggles my mind to see evidently intelligent people like you chain themselves to such ridiculous ideologies

verify your facts first before blurting our “information” based merely on the lies you've accumulated over the last 30 minutes of browsing the wiki.
marx spent most of his time in london living in poverty, so much so that four of his seven children died. this is well-documented in his personal letters and in the testimony of friends and acquaintances and not even up for debate. he also worked as a political activist up until his death and had regular contact with workers. he was colleagues with someone who devoted his life to the proto-anthropological and very personal study of the english working class. even if he never set foot in a factory - something neither of us can verify, unless you would like to provide a source for that assertion - his political activism, residence in working-class communities, and engel’s experience as a factory owner would compensate for it quite adequately. after all, he spent dozens of pages at a time railing against some of the worst working and living conditions an industrial society has ever created, in excrutiating and thoroughly-cited detail. pretty good for an ivory tower academic in a library with no connection to reality eh?
in contrast, smith, child of a middle-class lawyer, entered academia at age 14 and never left. ricardo was born working-class but was a self-made man who made his living off of stocks and securities by his 20s. yet you don’t question their integrity and mentally masturbate on the idea that the great thing about capitalism is this "invisible hand" that maximizes happiness. mind boggling, indeed

if wanting gun control is radical, then so be it. we need gun control and the only people that have an issue with it are the people who shouldn't be owning guns in the first place.

i agree. if supporting #marchforourlives makes me a radical activist, then a radical activist i will become. you cannot look at the recent shootings in florida and alabama and think to yourself that things should stay the same. the only way for things to change is to protest, rally, and march to allow our voices to be heard.

+1 answer in: “I would think someone your self would not support such an idiot march and concept !! Gun control is pointless. We have the second for a reason. What is with these radical views you're having lately”

you work in racing, of course you're going to defend the industry, without it you wouldn't have a job. Don't call yourself an animal rights activist if you involve in that horrible sport.

Don't call yourself an animal rights activist if you're going to blindly boycott an industry while supporting show industries of any sort because the same abuse is seen everywhere and if you're really that delusional, then you're far worse than myself who supports GOOD and KIND and HUMANE trainers and is aware of what needs change in any discipline I choose to be a part of.
I could get another job, I've been in this industry for a little over a year but have always supported good barns in the industry. Educate yourself before trying to make claims about my life and decision making.

Yeah but edgy teenagers keep calling themselves 'depressed' while they're only feeling shitty. People seem to care less about depression because it has lost its real meaning. I agree about educational step and start looking for the real cause though.

It could be an opportunity for the activist in that particular issue to ride the hype-train, correcting the misconseptions.

I'll be going to a state university in a week, and since I haven't had much exposure to large social crowds outside a Christian environment, I'm a little nervous. Do you have any advice for me on how to communicate my faith in a respectable way and stand up for my beliefs without making enemies?

theonlyems’s Profile Photolionessence
I think that you have little to be nervous about here, and that you're more experienced and proven capable with that kind of environment than you give yourself credit for in this question.
You may not have spent a lot of time in traditional secular schools, but you have spent most of your adolescence online, exposed to environments like this. When it comes to things like maintaining a balance between identity and open-mindedness, between conviction and respect, the no-holds-barred nature of the Internet is more of a trial by fire than the face-to-face encounters at a college.
If you can make friends of differing backgrounds and beliefs online while still being able to recognize and ignore a troll, then you'll have no problems doing the same in your college life while still recognizing when some jerk activist is just trying to get under your skin. (It helps that people are usually - not always - less wont to forget the humanity of the people who disagree with them in face-to-face scenarios than they do online.)
So, the usual advice: make connections with people, especially people who don't have the same background as yourself, as these are the people we can learn the most from - but also remember your principles and don't allow yourself to be pressured into things you know you'll regret. But you already know those things - it's clear from how you carry yourself here. I get the feeling that you would be a good resource for someone without your experiences who was having the same worries.

Tell me about your dream 😊

You probably think that i am a girl with dreams.
and you probably would be surprised with what i really think.
One thing to remember:
You asked the 18 yo version of me. I probably will have different answer and way of thinking in my 20s.
Here you go.
Let me tell you that i do not own big dreams.
It's people who give me.
Countless times people i met wish me to be a lecturer, bussiness woman, activist, minister, and even, president's wife.
When me, myself, don't have so many ambitions that i just work on what should be done in front of me.
My goal is to be happy. Here and in the hereafter. That simple.
I never really determine what i'm gonna be, i don't really have a definite goal. I'm kind of person that is excited by the many possibilities before me. Even up til now, i'm still in search of what i enjoy doing.
But one sure thing, once i decide to marry and have children, i'm gonna be that full-time mom until at least my children reach the age of 12.
"what? a housewife? with that M.Sc title?"
Yeah, i don't care.
No one else would give a damn about the growth of my children except me, and my husband, ofc.
It's my utter responsibility to make sure that they grow to be decent, civilized, human-beings.
And it's my choice to be their own teacher and full-time friend.
If time allows, after they grow up well, i would resume my formal education.
I want to be a professor.
Not because of its title,
But because of its impacts.
It would be a privilege for meto be both impactful at home and towards society -- but if you ask me which one is first,
I would undoubtedly answer family.

In the early 1900's, women were only to be seen, not heard and their #1 priority was to find a suitable husband that would take care of them till death. If the world was still like this (not including outside of the states), would you be that 1 out of 10 that would fight against that belief? Why?

if i existed back then and was anything like the social activist that i am now, then i probably would be that 1/10 person fighting for equal rights.
women's rights has always resonated strongly with me, and i've never been the type of person to sit back and let things slide. i likely would have been arrested or killed, but i still would have advocated for better rights.

I pinched this quiz from @nurbzee and @cactusDoug. It's basically asking if the user wants to see any of the following traits in their future spouse/partner. And while I'm long married, I found it interesting to hear what others find important.

1. Knowledgeable in terms of religion? - Being with someone who has faith in something bigger than us is important. Detailed knowledge of religious history isn't.
2. "" In terms of science? - The medical field is science based, so I'm not a stranger to it. But I wouldn't want someone who consistently spoke over my head about science.
4. "" philosophy? - Again, I don't care about formal philosophical training. But I like someone who likes to ponder abstract ideas, who thinks beyond the superficial.
5. "" entertainment? - This could mean a lot of things. I enjoy music and books. Live musical performances. I don't care for the details of the celebrities lives.
6. Wears glasses? - That's fine. I wear glasses.
7. Entrepreneurial businessperson? - Nah. Wise with money and investments. But I'm too old to be any part of starting a business or being with someone aggressively climbing a ladder.
8. Writer? - Would be nice. But not crucial. An ability to communicate verbally is more important to me.
9. Activist - Maybe. Not someone who is aggressively tenacious in their causes. But someone who is willing to stand up for what's right and has social compassion.
10. Good at cooking/housework/chores? - I guess someone who isn't afraid of or above doing them. Someone who enjoys cooking-- good at it or not-- is fun. But most of the other chores are things I don't mind doing pretty regularly.
11. Tall? - Doesn't matter. It's nice to have someone to lean into when slow dancing. That's about it.
12. Older? - I'd prefer older to younger. Nothing against younger people at all. But I've always been socially drawn to people older than me.
13. Silent/quiet type? - Sure. That is, someone who doesn't have to be the center of attention in public, but can talk comfortably in any venue. I do prefer humility to over-confidence.
14. Good humor? - Yes. I enjoy fun and laughter, but I often take life too seriously. That's when I need someone to show me the lighter side.
15. Mosque/churchgoer? - Sure. I'd enjoy sharing that part of our lives, but if we don't share the same faith, then respect is crucial.
16. One who discusses things often? - Yes. The fun and hard conversations need to happen.

I pinched this quiz from @nurbzee 😃 for something to exercise my brain a bit while my body isn't doing anything: I can't remember the original phrasing, but it's basically asking if you want to see any of the following traits in your future spouse/partner.

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
1. Knowledgeable in terms of religion? - I'm not faffed, though it's good to know a pentagram from a crosier I suppose.
2. "" In terms of science? - Put it this way: I won't be dating any climate change deniers.
3. "" In terms of life? - It helps I guess
4. "" philosophy? - It helps if they can string some thoughts together.
5. "" entertainment? - If this means they can put on events, sure. If it means they watch Celebrity Love Island, I'm not so faffed.
6. Wears glasses? - I don't mind, unless they're supposed to wear glasses and they refuse. This becomes a safety issue around the house.
7. Entrepreneurial businessperson? - Wise with money is fine, I'll steer away from arch-Capitalism though.
8. Writer? - Sure. We could compare notes and share an agent.
9. Activist - it depends what they're agitating for, and how extreme they are! Someone with a social conscience would be nice though.
10. Good at cooking/housework/chores? - nah they don't need to be good at it. I'm just "acceptable" at getting things done, I wouldn't expect more from anyone else.
11. Tall? - I'm not faffed either way.
12. Older? - I've been in serious relationships with partners 6 years younger and 8 years older, age isn't too much of an obstacle.
13. Silent/quiet type? - I suppose quiet is fine, but silent would be problematic.
14. Good humour? - Yes they need to crack their face from time to time.
15. Mosque/churchgoer? - I don't mind, if they don't mind my Pagan shenanigans. Just no trying to convert me to anything.
16. One who discusses things often? - yeah, I think that's healthy 🙂
