Do you speak with a certain dialect? How's that dialect typically considered being by others who speak your mother tongue? 💬🌍

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
My dialect is a bit of a mess. Mostly generic English with some Scottish and South African words thrown in. My accent has very very slowly been turning Scottish, though I can still turn on my South African accent when the mood takes me.

What gifts did you get for Xmas?

BlueEyesWhiteGuy’s Profile PhotoBlueEyesWhiteGuy
I won't list all of them!
But my boyfriend got me a new headset as mine was slowly falling apart lol they still work, but the material on the whole thing is disintegrating lol my new ones have cat ears xD
My brother is a suppoter of the WWF charity! So for Christmas he gifted me an adoption of an African Elephant! Sadly they are highly endangered :( but the adoption helps support them, aids in protecting them, as well as their habitat! My elephant's name is Clarabell! :3
Then I also got 2 Critical Role books! As shown in the pic :3

Either Indian, Italian, American or Asian dishes.
Furthermore, I enjoy African food as well but there are no restaurants near us right now, who would offer delivery. Which is a pity. We buy what we crave at that moment and that changes often.

Why are African leaders so selfish to themselves?

KeepYourEyesPeeled’s Profile PhotoLucas
Because they can get away with all the power. Dictators are ripe on the continent for a reason. Coup D'états are as common as the common cold. Corruption is as extensive as the underground land of Atlantis. The DRC should be the most prosperous nation on the planet, but instead, it's one of the poorest. It's got trillions of dollars of untapped minerals, but the leaders only want the minerals for themselves. They'll never give a penny to the people. They should. They won't.

Kamala Harris made racist comments in Oregon on December 12 2021. We demand her resignation. Who said people of color cannot be racist ?

As district attorney, she has done far worse - threw numerous young Black men in prison for very minor offenses in order to demonstrate how "tough on crime" she was. In fact, those racist actions launched her dubious political career. Today, she pretends to be Black when she hardly has any African blood. She isn't just a bigoted hypocrite and a blatant liar, she's also an intolerant cretin who opposed gay marriage until it became politically expedient. Examine her record. She is the exact opposite of her carefully contrived image - and her supporters couldn't be more clueless.

What good is it to learn other foreign languages when everyone speaks English?

It’s always good to learn a second language for work, travel, etc
I’m grateful I have a half decent ability to communicate in two other languages because I will always be able to ask for directions, order at a restaurant, and have a basic conversation with people. My native language isn't English, and I only knew a few words coming to America. Learning a new language can help people like I was learning English.
I have no idea, I just love knowing other languages. I find them inherently interesting and worth learning and fun. I especially like being able to enjoy media from other countries, it's very refreshing. I can't say I'll ever have a particularly meaningful bond with people who speak Spanish because I have issues speaking without getting shy despite being nearly fluent, and I'm also staggeringly not-charming, but I still love the language and being able to learn about the language. Above all, for me, it's about knowledge, and checking your ego. Learning language is simply learning a lot of stuff and structures and constantly asking questions in order to learn it better and better. You constantly have to think in order to learn it, but at the same time, it's really not about intelligence, because you can be really smart and study language for a long time and still be bad if you never encounter the language in real life. It's just something to know and there are people who use it and you can hear other people use it and the diversity is wonderful. If you have too much hubris, you either run out if patience to look up words in the dictionary, or you talk and talk and talk making the same mistakes over and over. It may be silly, but I want to be more than the average monolingual American. I also want to travel the world some day and I had better know a few other languages or be relegated to the tourist areas. Starting with french because I have some family that took it in school, then I'm moving on to mandarin, Spanish, and then Arabic (MSA). I figure after all of that I will dramatically open up my options for travel and employment.
English is indeed the lingua franca, especially of Europe and former European colonies (India, Caribbean islands, various African nations). I began learning French when I was a kid in part because I have a francophone family and in part because I am Canadian, and god damn but I think everyone should learn our two official languages (and if you know some native languages, the more the merrier).
For me it's about respect and culture. English is a global language, yes, but so much of the culture of other countries is rooted in its language. I traveled to Germany once before knowing German, and then again after I knew a lot more and it was a completely different experience. I was able to speak to people who didn't speak English (there are some, especially older people) and I felt more comfortable. I chose German because I love the culture, but obviously that's a personal choice.

The necklace on the left is probably the most touristy, cheap item you can purchase at Cape Town International Airport and the last thing I could quickly grab before leaving my old home. The pendant is an old South African rand coin. I usually keep it hidden underneath my shirt. If someone asks me about it I tell them it is a holiday souvenir when in reality it is one of the very few things I still have from my childhood.

The crucifix on the right is a gift my brother gave me a couple of days ago along with a lecture on staying away from certain things that might k ill me one day. I am not a religious person but his faith is extremely important to him. He got the crucifix from his grandmother. It is too big to wear around my neck so I am not sure what to do with it but he promised to k ill me if I lose it. Not that Christian if you ask me but okay. I will take good care of it of course. And maybe it will really drive away some of my demons as he promised.

What do you think of your country's flag? 🇸🇪🇺🇲🇳🇱🇬🇧🇯🇵 If you could redesign it to be more "accurate", how would you? 😆

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
I love it. Simple, sweet, and to the point. It's the simplistic style that makes it look so good. Some world countries like Central African Republic have funky flags, but I don't know if I'd say it's a good flag. It just looks kinda "meh" in my opinion lol. However, Seychelles has the same amount of color bands, yet it looks 100x better. Seychelles' flag looks like a rainbow, or colors spewing out of a volcano.

The cruelest and selfish man I know.

Hundreds of years ago, white people in the United Kingdom and the United States kidnapped the ancestors of African descent, made huge profits from their home country to American land, and turned them into white slaves. Hundreds of years later, when African-Americans finally took a place, the white elite in the United States once again used the virus to condone the virus through its social rules and killed thousands of African-Americans and other minorities.

racist is colour not features. plus beauty is under the eyes of the beholder. whatever you stupid man shut up

Racism isn’t either related to colour or feature. It’s discrimination based upon belonging to a certain race which some people think is inferior to theirs. Only if you looked up for the definition rather than using your own intuition. “Which African country has the most handsome men and beautiful women?” The question in itself is discriminating if I start thinking with your point of view. So there you go highlighting one country (which is considered a race) while ignoring the rest yet have the audacity to call someone else racist? Might as well donate your brain for free because you’re not even doing it the justice it needs.

Can you explain it to please how you made the costume? Do you remember how long did it take you to make it? It looks amazing. :) (I hope I wrote everything correctly and you understand me 😅)

dumbshitttttt’s Profile PhotoCurious Butterfry
Sure, of course!! Your English is perfect, don’t worry! Thank you also 🤗
The costume is to do with various methods of animal migration, as I know it probably doesn’t seem clear at first glance!
Truthfully, I can’t remember as to how long it took, but I know the wings were a considerable amount of time alone! They were by far the most intricate process.
In terms of the wings, they were made by welding copper wires together, and the shapes within the wings are of electromagnetic fields, hence the funky pattern, aha. I then stitched plastic scoubidou wires onto them to give them some colour! It’s then covered in organza fabric which was sealed by both hand stitching and a glue gun, to mimic bat wings.
The top was originally a grey sports top, which I painted over in fabric paint to mimic the pattern of a blue whale.
The gauntlets and shoulder pads were made of felt, with thin leather stitched on top to cover it, with various nautical instruments attached to them.
The helmet was an old motorcycle helmet, and I fixed in some fairy lights, steampunk glasses and headphones to mimic radar and sonar! The glasses were to symbolise the photoreceptors that birds have to migrate. The lights because... (I can’t remember ahah)
The trousers were made from scratch, and were dip dyed in three different vats of dye, to get the ombré effect. Paw prints and fur mimicking African mammals were painted onto them with fabric paint/cuttings I found.
Same with the shoes! They were sourced out and painted too.
Sorry for the essay, but I really appreciated your question so I wanted to spend time answering it! In truth I sourced so many methods of animal migration at the time, and each element of the costume is homage to that, basically! :)

If you had only one day to live, what would you NOT do? And, there has to be a giraffe involved in the story. 😂

I would definitely NOT go to the African savanna, and try to ride a giraffe. Mainly because the flight would take up too much time. Instead, I'd go up to The Oregon Zoo, in Portland...and explain the situation to the handlers, and ride one of those, instead. 🦒

Hello.
One sentence alone cannot judge a person's intentions. You need to look at the behavior over time. Perhaps she has sympathy for you and she likes you. And she treats you like that - something more than the guy or acquaintance. Perhaps she is just interested now in this topic as a whole, but wanted to know your opinion.
Time will tell what will happen next. If you like a girl, then try to get closer to her, find something in common, show attention and listening skills.

Ok. I apologize. Do you not remember this though “I'm a 20 year old AFRICAN man, I live in California. A GORGEOUS WHITE GIRL (19) at my university saw my tribal marks and ASKED ME “what if me and you get married and have a baby, would you do that to the baby?” & how mean you were to me over that?

Saturdaymillion’s Profile PhotoFesterson
I literally told you and said repeatedly to other people that I have no idea what you're even talking about and that it must've been years ago IF whatever you claimed happened actually happened. Wasn't lying when I told you I have no idea who you even are. If what you're saying is true, if I was 'mean' to you it's because either a) you creeped me out, a random stranger asking about having babies & marriage with you is highkey creepy as hell or b) you took my generic response that I send to everybody who sends me things that I don't allow on my page too personally. I don't accept controversial topics such as race on my page & I don't accept conversations on my page & my generic response to literally everything that seems either inappropriate or trolling is the exact same. And seeing as how you literally were obsessively talking shxt on my kids a few hours ago, if I did say you did stuff to kids it's because obsessively going on about people's kids DOES seem very child predator like that stuff is beyond fxcked up to do.

This is for my African American women: Do you think it’s a compliment for a person of non color to say “You’re pretty for a black girl” or “You’re cute for a black girl” Am I wrong for getting offended.

That’s a backhanded compliment 💀 Quite racist too coming from someone who isn’t black. I used to talk to a white guy and he’d say stuff like that to me all the time. Like I look better with my hair straightened. Please Speak up if it makes u uncomfortable when someone says stuff like that ☹️
