Yes I know you only had one course. My point is that it's kind of a problem if you take a whole degree and don't know any of the most important things in biology. I think that's a major, serious problem with your degree program.

You’re just acting as if I’ll remember every single thing we’ve learned about vaccines lol. I can guarantee that many people won’t remember unless it’s their field of study. There’s also a possibility I won’t even find a job in bio anymore

I was in biology class, and the teacher asked ppl including me to distribute Petri dishes. I was distributing them and my friend gave my crush’s Petri dish to me and went away to continue distributing the others , but I never told anyone about having a crush. I was confused so what could it be :[

I've been doing well Alex thanks. And life has been treating me well, which I'm always grateful for. How about you? How are you, Anne and Faith doing? Have you gotten used to the new healthy lifestyle or still adjusting?

RayVen94’s Profile PhotoRay
Anne has been preparing meals with more vegetables and chicken. Faith has a cold now but she seems to be doing well. Her recent report card was all A's and one B in biology. I started performing again at Unity Church after a one month absence. We are blessed and grateful that our family is on the mend and healthy.
And how about my dear Ray? How has life been treating you? Which hobbies are you able to do each week?

Relationship suppose to be equal?

Nothing in life is equal except as defined in mathematical equations, formulas and theoretical hypothesis. Can someone please explain how humans, for example, are equal? If a man weighs 200lbs and a woman weighs 100lbs, are they equal? If one man is 6ft5in and another is 5ft10in are they equal? If one person has an I.Q of 120 and another an I.Q. of 80, are they equal? I would love for someone to explain this concept of equality in terms of science, biology and mathematics, because maybe I am simply to stupid to understand what all of the fuss is about.
The fact is that humans, fish, birds, trees, rocks, clouds, frequencies are ALL different and we should recognize and celebrate our differences and stop attempting to pretend that humans and everything that we can perceive is equal when the fact is that every human is different. Heck, even snowflakes are not equal!

Have you decided a career for yourself?

yar;( sometimes when i’m not ok, i think a lot about how i was conditioned to believe my worth was tied to choosing pre-med in school. i never had an inclination for any sciences, but i chose it anyways out of fear and pressure & now i’m too fond of biology to think about anything else but i’ll always regret not being exposed to more subjeccs but khair hai even tho it will always be a life long regret, no regrets. (no u r a contradiction ) and to answer ur question, yes, i have but it’s subject to change as per my feelings . i might just become a babysitter for cats and birbs or run a herbal tea stall, who is 2 say what , what

Did black skin appear first in humans or white skin or neither? When do we know for sure when humans started to have a whiter and a darker skin by genetic means or another historical evidence?

okay. we're doing some more or less simple biology now.
In billions of years organisms learnt how to interact with their environment and how certain skills are superior over others. However we all know that genetics are a complicated topic and that sometimes small "errors" happen which are responsible for the biodiversity on our planet. So after billions of years of genetically mutations the homo sapiens appeared in east Africa (according to the current stage of research). So... I did some research myself with a little help of Google and searched, were the homo sapiens' closest relatives are located.
Nowadays Chimpanzees and Gorillas normally live in Central Africa which supports the theory of evolution for a common ancestor.
Carefully: Apes are not the homo sapiens' ancestor, at some point of evolution they shared the same ancestor and developed differently. (still the gene pool is very close till now with 90-99 percent of a genetic match).
So, after billions of years apes in central Africa still are likely to have a darker skin color because it protects them from the strong radiation of the sun. The common ancestor was likely to have a darker skin color. And as genetical mutations and evolution are a slow and steady process it is most likely that the first homo sapiens also had a darker skin color.
I myself am pretty sure that lighter skin colors appeared first after the homo sapiens decided to travel northern places.

Why do Americans call insects by using the "he" jewelry instead of the "it" jewelry? I've especially seen women call out animals like insect fish that they swallow with the jewelry "he/him" instead of "it"?

In biology we were taught that in the animal kingdom there are only 2 genders. So when Americans refer to an insect as a "he" it is because he has a male genital as shown below in the photograph. So as not to offend the "woke" crowd, many Americans carry portable microscopes so that we can properly identify the male and female genitals of insects.
In the case of humans, some medical books still list only two genders (male and female) but the globalists and progressive left who run our public schools and universities are currently revising medical literature to define gender as a "social construct" that is not based upon male or female sex or x and y chromosomes.
As of August 22, 2021, Wikipedia claims that their are 64 genders. Considering that new genders are being invented/discovered every year, some woke experts predict that by the year 3,000 there could be in excess of 500 different genders applied to the human species. However, amongst animals, insects, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians there remain only two genders and scientists expect that number to remain constant based upon evidence, logic, reason and common sense.

If we had the ability to choose precisely what we think we need at any given point, would we then be free of suffering?

SabaQazi455’s Profile PhotoSaba Qazi

If mentally ill people shouldn’t be held accountable for thinking and acting due to a faulty brain, can we take ownership for ANY of our thoughts and actions? I argue that we are somewhat like puppets controlled by our brain, which is completely built and shaped by biology and the environment. robot doesn’t have free will if it was coded to think a certain way.

What is the best way to explore human nature: psychology, philosophy, or biology?

What is the best way to explore human nature: psychology, philosophy, or biology?

RayVen94’s Profile PhotoRay
Honestly, this might seem like a copout, but I'm going to say all three. They are separate entities in and of themselves. However, they are all intertwined, related and ingrained into our DNA. How were "wired". In order to study human nature, one MUST look at all, but not limited to the three sciences listed in your question. For example, there are certain characteristics which can help mark or "finger" who might be a good candidate to be a serial killer. Based on case history, serial killers fit a MO. Generally, this gets into Psychology, some to do with Biology, and one can even argue, Biology, as most serial killers tend to be Caucasian males, and so on and so on. We could discuss this for hours! But, for as a simple an answer as I can give, yes, all three. I would live to discuss this in more detail.

Humanity- race we are all part of regardless of registration, we are auto-enrolled at gestation, take our marks at birth, get set for this perfect life we have envisioned in our mind, and then it's gone before it even starts. That tells us that it's not always about the destination or the finish line, it's about how you get there... it's about the path you choose, the steps you take to get there, the people you meet along your way

Is there a subject you're especially knowledgable about? You mind saying something you know relating to that which you think most other people don't know? 🧠🤯

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
I really like the biology of mental health. It's really powerful for breaking down the stigma of mental health not being a 'real' thing. It also helps people to engage with treatment when they understand why and how the techniques are going to work.
I'm currently really interested in breath work. Lots of people with anxiety are told "just breathe" and feel they are being fobbed off. But breath is such a powerful tool when understood and utilised properly. Most people know that when they are anxious and think there is danger their heart rate increases and they breathe faster and that this is part of the "fight or flight" stress response. However, what is not commonly taught is that this mechanism is two-way. So how we breathe also signals back to our brains if danger is present. Therefore slowing down breathing (or even maintaining relaxed posture!) can tell our brains that there is no danger. This in turn activates the opposite side of the nervous system which switches off fight or flight and anxiety symptoms.
In short, we aren't victims of our brains but if we experience trauma or stress we can be more prone to false alarms where we think we are in danger and we are not. This triggers a protective response which we experience as anxiety. But we can talk back and tell our bodies it is a false alarm very effectively with our breath!
I find that amazing and I wish I had understood why I kept being given breathing exercises for my anxiety. What they failed to explain to me was why and how this could help - and when to use it!
Sorry for the long answer!!

🇺🇸 I understand for myself how we was there when I learned Biology‼️ Out body is mix of the first living creatures‼️
But our soul is the divine part of us‼️ Don’t mind‼️ It’s my opinion‼️

What are your thoughts on this? US scientists have developed a computer, that will interpret someone's thoughts, and convert it to speech. My thoughts are this...If they can do this, they can do anything! Your thoughts?

Not worried. Also if it was tested in Americans it has to be a pretty awesome computer 🙃 Computers will rule the world! Yeaahhh!
Sounds interesting, where did you see that?
Transhuamism/anti-human is coming. The convergence of biology and tech. This is the transhumanist/eugenicist wet dream. Well, they may be reported as having claimed such but I take it with a sizeable few grammes of sodium chloride.
Besides, even if possible, surely it would need sensors attaching to the head to detect whatever are the thought "signals"? What is your un-cited source? The original in a respected scientific publication or some general journalist mis-representing that? (Not that most of us would necessarily be able to read the paper even if sufficiently knowledgable. The big publishers like Elsevier have sewn up the scientific-papers trade very tightly and made access extremely expensive. Even many of the scientist authors now complain they are often unable to re-read their own past individual or contributed papers, unless they had ensured from the start, retaining copies privately!) A dictatorship would love such an invention.. That would be an awesome tool to identify people with the wrong think.

Do you consider yourself an interesting/boring person? How so?

I think I'm boring. I don't have any hobbies besides reddit and occasionally binging a tv show, I haven't experienced a lot of interesting things (that are positive), there's nothing I know particularly much about, and if you talk to me I don't know what to say most of the time. Regarding the hobbies, there are a few things I'd like to get into (like oil painting and wood carving) but I don't have that much money and it always costs so much initially to buy all the tools and stuff and if I have the choice of either spending my money on lots of takeaway food and clothing or on tools that I don't even know I'll use twice, it's not a difficult decision. Mostly, I'm infinitely curious about the world and people. When I meet someone new I see a chance of learning more, discovering someone and finding out what we might have in common. I've cultivated all this diversity of interests because every member of my family likes different things and we always pay attention to each other and learn from each other (dad's a mathematician and physicist who has a rock band, mom is an interior-design nerd who loves science documentaries and learning about different cultures, big brother is a history-geek, programmer and photographer who rescues dogs, sister in law is an engineer and practices karate, middle brother is a writer and editor who's getting into graphic design and wants to study history, i've even adopted many interests from my little nephews and niece, like some cartoons and videogames). I also have a witty and silly sense of humor (thanks to both my parents) and most of the times feel confident around people (other times I get very anxious) mostly because I know I can handle pretty much any conversation topic (either because I have something to contribute or because I know nothing about it but want to learn a bit). I also try to make other people feel comfortable, specially if they're shy. I'm always respectful. Of course, to some people I would be boring anyway. Some might not like my sense of humor or whatever. Also, most of my hobbies are done inside, so I'm trying to get into something that would take me outside (installed PokemonGo for this reason but I'm considering going back to french classes) because I'm dating someone. But right now? Boring as fuck. I'm a student, and all I basically do is study, party, Netflix and occasional interesting things related to my degree. I can't afford to indulge in my hobbies, or have the time to travel even around my country. I like gaining extra knowledge through reading and stuff, but I'm awful at retaining it, so I'm not very good at contributing to meaningful conversations regarding stuff like politics. I'm good at chatting biology, feminism, climate change and animals, that's pretty much it.

What's your definition of confidence?

paradiseeve5’s Profile PhotoDuaa.
This reminds me of an incident when I was in matric, it was a co-ed college and in mid August,
I got involved in so many extra circular competitions that I was hardly ever in class so automatically my grades started falling.
Once my biology teacher was returning tests and my name came up. But before handing me my tested she said out loud ' Shaezil you scored the least in the class, 12.5 out of 20, that's less than even Bilal' s score(Bilal was the class comedian). If you can't maintain your focus on studies maybe you shouldn't be participating in competitions. '
Anyway, I took the paper, went back to my seat.
I asked Bilal what his score was(it was 13), rechecked my test and all.
Ma' am had miscounted the marks so I raised my hand and told her, she took the paper and gave me one mark more and said it's just one mark. I replied out loud, 'But I'm a mark higher than Bilal now, not the least anymore'.
The class laughed out and she told my mother during break time :)

Exactly the same, since Maths is one of the best ways to strengthen a brain, but I never like it, my favorite are chemistry, english, PE, biology and geology.

QJLJJJ’s Profile PhotoS
True. We need more understanding that not everyone has the same ability. There are numerous of people that use their brains differently. I think mainly in Kuwait’s education system is slightly corrupted, sadly we certainly lack critical thinking+creative classes. The students are memorizing only..I don’t think they encourage teaching skills alot?
I also view universities a waste of time, it’s all dealt with businesses lol none of them really cares how much people understand and how much they are educated. The sad reality is that they care about money and the certificates are for social and formal status.
Did you know that the best education system in the world is Finland?
-They allow their children to be children
-Less tests more teaching
-Learning through play

+1 answer in: “In what subject are you weak..? Whats your favorite subject in the school..?”

Can I know how you choose what course you want for continue your studies? I mean sebab minat or other reason?

Lepas SPM, I tak sure nak pilih jurusan apa and I still wanna explore more options. So I decide untuk ambil matriks. Risky tapi masih general untuk explore & tak ambil masa lama.
Masa matriks, I minat gila DNA and genetic engineering. Biology was my best subject. So I decided to go for Bio-Engineering untuk degree bila I noticed ada genetic engineering dalam elektif field dia.
Tapi lepas masuk degree, masa second year, I suka gila cosmetics. I suka skincare & makeup. Memang addict gila to a point yang I banyak explore career paths yang related dengan kosmetic dalam cabang sains. And I baru tahu ada elektif lain dalam course I yang offer pharma, which ada elemen cosmetics dalam elektif tu. Then I decided to switch. Instead of genetic, I tukar ambil pharma. Masa tu I aim untuk go for quality inspection punya working line. Contoh macam QA or QC.
Dah habis belajar, I banyak cari company or manufacturer yang khusus untuk cosmetics. Masa tu I dapat intern under R&D department. Masa tu baru tahu wujud field macam tu. Then, I trained dekat a few kilang and beberapa company lain juga. And after that is history. Fast forward 2 years later, I’m working as Product Planning Executive. Basically, I’m responsible to initiate and oversee the research & development (R&D) of skincare products at my company 🥰
Long story short, I pilih sebab minat dan career path pada waktu tu.

If someone handed you a proper camera, like a DSLR and asked you to take a picture, would you be able to do so with confidence? Do you ever use dedicated cameras like those in your everyday life? 📸

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
"give it here," she told him with her arms outstretched. sighing, he took off his camera and placed it into the palms of her hand. "look, after years of directing my family, my sisters', and my friends' ootd shots, you're going to have to learn how to take modelling direction from me."
looping the camera strap around her neck, she stepped back a few paces and lifted the dslr to her eyes, checking out the potential shot.
with a firm, "mm" she knew what to do.
placing her hands on his shoulders, she turned him ever so slightly to the left.
"okay, stay."
she turned and ran away in the other direction.
"I want you to look up and away when I tell you to!" she yelled, as she took her place as their designated photographer. whipping around, she pointed the camera at her man and cried, "okay now!"
several clicks of the camera later, she paused and looked at the photos she took.
"they're good," she concluded, "but they could be better."
walking back to him, she said, "this time, I want you to adjust your legs ever so slightly."
completely humoured by her commands, he just did what he was told. after all, she was their creative director when it came to their fashion photoshoots.
“angle your left foot a bit more —“
then she saw it, the perfect shot.
“okay GREAT NOW STAY RIGHT THERE.”
their siblings who were there on the trip with them observed the two with glee and called out, “get you a girl who takes ootd shots for you like nurul!”
overhearing what they said, she burst out laughing, throwing her head back, “get you a man who will willingly take directions from you when you’re taking his ootd shots!”

the answers to your questions, tobbe, is yes. yes to both. I absolutely love documenting everything, and growing up, I almost always had my digital camera with me. back in high school, my classmates and friends knew me as the girl who took photos of everything. even my biology teacher noted how, “you like to take photos of everything, huh?”
which is true.
I love going the distance to get that perfect shot. especially when we’re taking photos during first few minutes of a sunrise or sunset. sunlight is absolutely, breathtakingly magical. you never know when you’ll get that perfectly half-lit, hair glowing in the right places, the light bouncing off your clothes shot if you don’t stop and just shoot (with your camera).
since we have iphones and samsungs with killer camera quality, I don’t have a need to carry a camera anymore. I’ve never owned a dslr myself, but I’m very comfortable with using one, since I like to take charge of my cousins’ cameras whenever I get the chance.
I’m also just as comfortable being in front of the camera. I love doing self photoshoots, because I know my angles well, and modelling is great fun. especially when you’re wearing a particularly cute outfit, and you just know what to show off that day!
I hope my answer suffices. thank you for sending me your questions! 📸✨

Has anyone here gotten their masters in science for psychology or taken any related classes? I'm super interested in your experience to help me make a decision.

kristinmfoor092’s Profile Photosarcasm queen
Hi, I'm doing my minors degree in psychology and a majors in biological sciences. I'm a 2nd year university student, and I took my first psychology course in high school. I got really interested in psychology. Psychology also had tons of information about human development and how humans act the way they do. It was such an interesting course, that when I entered college, I took a few more psychology courses. Then, in 2020, I decided to enroll in a minor in psychology program since the things I learned in biology went hand in hand with what I learned in psychology. I don't know what you are interested in or what your goal is, but you should definitely pursue a masters in science for psychology as it can open many doors for you. Earning a master's degree in psychology prepares you for more advanced higher-paying careers in the field. Best of luck in your endeavors!

How would you feel about school taking up an extra hour every day to teach basic "adult stuff" like washing clothes, basic cooking, paying taxes?

KeepYourEyesPeeled’s Profile PhotoLucas
It should be more than an hour. It should be at least 2 hours. I can tell you straight up that high school was mostly a waste of time. A lot of the things I've learned I have not retained, nor have I ever used. It just seemed like it was setting me up to fail because we were never taught how to live in the real world. We were only taught how to be school smart; not to be street smart.
If I learned more about finances in high school, I wouldn't have had the incorrect assumption that a credit card is free money. Because when I first got my credit card I legitimately thought it was free money. I didn’t spend it all in one day, but in the back of my mind I was like “Alright, free money!”. Nope - it’s far from free.
It's the small things that go a long way. I really think high school should teach you more than useless garbage like biology and physics. They should teach you more relevant things such as how to pay taxes, how to use a credit card, how to wash your clothes, and so on and so forth. They may seem like very basic things to teach, but this is to set you up to have a normal adult life without being too over-reliant on other people.
