Have you ever been sacked/fired from a job? 👍 🙃
A few years ago, I was the desk clerk at a hair salon in the mall. A mother and daughter came in and they both had head lice. This was a Sunday afternoon and all we had on the books after them were a couple of walk-in men's cuts, so it was a no brainer to cancel those appointments so we could shut down and sanitize the salon (the workstations, tools, sinks, etc.) In addition to that, they'd been sitting on the mall couches outside the salon before they came in to our waiting area, so the mall itself had their cleaners block that area off so they could deep clean the upholstery (it wasn't a wipe-down material).
I skipped work, no call no show because I thought I was having a miscarriage. I had a birthcontrol implant done within 3 months and had sex for the first time since then. After speeding to the clinic, leaving my phone behind, it was what only turned out to be a massive clotty menstruation. Anyway, I call work ASAP and said I had a "medical emergency." The next day my depression turned debilitating, I cried in the tub, shut my phone off, but I did send an email to my supervisor about experiencing symptoms of the previois days emergency. Monday rolls around, I go to work as normal, but when the time came to clock out I needed to leave asap with still a heavy flow and menstrual cramps. They expected me to work past the time to catch up, I apologized and said tomorrow. Tuesday morning I get a text from my Sup, they hired me to be there when I'm needed. I sent back, expecting this to be woman to woman, the miscarriage scare story, apologizing and saying I'll see her in an hour. She says we need to talk when I get there. I get an email, official header and all that my employment is no longer needed and I violated my contract by not calling the week before approving the time off. Signed by the sup and manager. I was a secretary for a month with them. I was just like... Damn what a cold hearted. Glad I got fired.
Yep. Everything was going incredibly, I had my dream job and loved all of the people working there, everyone got along great and we were all friends (including the owners). However, winter is slow for them, so they told me they didn't have the budget for my position anymore. This happened mid November, and as a student taking the year off to make money for school, that was a pretty huge blow. It's January and I still can't find a job, nobody is hiring now. I went in a couple weeks after I was let go to give in a hard drive to see I had been replaced. So "we don't have the budget" was a cover up for "we've found someone better but we like you so we're not going to say that to your face".
