[7•21•21]- Do you know how to sew?

ass4lyfe’s Profile PhotoLady Boometh
I do. I love to sew. Learned from my mom and Maw Maw how to and it has came in handy. I just mentioned this in an answer earlier as a hobby for someone to do. Sewing. It most definitely comes in handy. Sometimes my husband's Pockets go out in his expensive work pants and it is very important to keep those pants up because as I said they're expensive and not cheap to buy a new pair. But sometimes people will be having issues when we are at get-togethers and I have an emergency sewing kit and my purse usually and I always have they're back.

What’s some insider knowledge that only people in your line of work have?

The US Debt Ceiling needs to be raised, only with the approval of the US Congress, by July 31st or default becomes a real possibility. The Debt Ceiling Bill is getting rolled into a 4.5 Trillion dollar Infrastructure Plan that does not have the votes to pass Congress.
If this does not get done by Midnight on July 31st, default becomes a real possibility. The US stock markets, bond markets, and the USD will take a very bad beating. This will quickly spread globally. Crypto will also take a (further) drop.
It will be a great time to buy solid fundamentals stocks about 4 or 5 days after the panic selling stops.

What's your least favorite month?

I really sincerely hate August as well, especially as an adult. Not only is it hot, humid, and potentially full of wildfires and tornadoes, but I don't even get a summer break for it like I used to. I just have to pull my damn slacks over my sweaty thighs, put on make up that's going to run off in 15 minutes, and get on with it.
March is an asshole. You endured November and December because they were freezing but there were holidays and you're kinda into that. Then it's January and you think, "well, it can't get any worse." Then it's February. February sucks, but not quite as much as January, plus February's so short and spring is just around the corner, just two more weeks of February and it'll be March, and March is spring. Then March actually happens, and it's cold. It's windy. It's rainy. There's one nice day that reminds you of what niceness feels like, but then it ends and the clear skies mean that nighttime is even colder and more bitter. You wanted to wear a dress but now you're freezing. You're tired of wearing your stupid winter coat everyday and it just never fucking ends. Not cold enough for snow, but definitely cold enough to make you regret leaving the house as soon as you do. Christmas happens, and that's hands down my least favorite day of the year. That holiday manages to last the whole goddamn month too! Hooray... Obligation to buy presents that you'll get yelled at for. Obligation to act perfectly totally happy like you're ecstatic about this stupid holiday.. Get screamed at because you invariably fuck something up no matter how hard you try. When there's no yelling, there is... nothingness. Endless repeats of whatever marathon is on TV, like Storage Wars. Yelling. Boredom. Yelling. Boredom. If you try to entertain yourself or others it either leads to 'why are you on the computer and not having family time!' or a game that leads to giant family arguments. Also on top of all of this, it starts getting cold and some of the worst storms happen as the weather changes. In the middle of this, I have to make plans to travel and successfully travel a 9-10 hour driving trip. I'm thankful the years there is no storm to travel in, but then have to listen to everyone complain and moan about how there's no snow. But honestly, maybe getting snowbound during the trip there would be better.
I hate January and February equally, March is a close second. I live in Canada so January and February are in the dead of winter. It's often when the -30 weather happens and all the horrible snow storms and you can't go out and do anything because it's dark by 5pm and it's way too cold all the time. March is almost as bad because you think "hey, spring should be coming!" but it never does because this is Canada.
December is the worst. To much money needs to be spent and I dont have that much of it. Last year I only bought presents for my kid.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? Do you tend to have a shoe for every occasion or ones that are more all-purpose? 👟🥾👠

TobbeAsks’s Profile Photoᛏᛟᛒᛒᚨ
I've got two pair of gym shoes, one regular and one for the skateboard. I have a pair of rain boots, a pair of snow boots, and a pair of short fur-line ankle boots for winter. I also have some snake boots for hiking or otherwise being out in the wilderness, and I've got one pair of flip flops for the beach or pool. I've got a bunch of pairs of leather combats though. Probably like 10-15 pairs, but some are heels that I only wear on rare occasions (weddings, etc). Mostly I have one or two pairs at a time that I wear almost constantly (e.g. pair of boots and pair of converse, worn depending on outfit and weather), then get new ones or get bored and swap two a different two or three.
I think about 30+, but I've stopped buying shoes and am now just wearing through what I have. At some point, they went from being fun to just stuff, so I intend to get good use from them and whittle down the collection. I figure I need a couple of pairs of errand-running shoes that I wear with socks, a couple of pairs comfy-but-cute sandals for summer, a couple of pairs of winter boots, a couple of pairs of formal dress shoes and a few assorted shoes for things like going out, appearing business-like, etc. Maybe a rainboot. So 10-15 max? That still feels like a lot. Hmm...
I'm low income and I own about two dozen pairs. Part of it is that if I see a pair that look good, fit my style, are a good brand and are cheap enough for my budget I can't afford to let them pass unless I've already got a couple of pairs exactly like them. If I do that then one day I'll be putting together an outfit for a special event (wedding, funeral, job interview etc) or putting together a functional wardrobe for a new job, and I'll end up having to buy one of those sodding pairs of $100 shoes at the department store.
I have about 4 pairs of (cheap) flipflops that I wear around the house or when on summer vacation, to the beach - it's basically all I wear the whole of july and august... I have 2 "nice" flats in black and grey, I think I have 2 pairs of sandals but rarely wear them (owned them both probably 6-7 years, wore them maybe 4-5 times), I have 2-3 "simple" black low heels that I only use for formal occasions - they're the shoes I wore to my high school graduation, and my university graduation.. I have two pairs of exercise shoes, 2 pairs of "normal" ankle height boots, one pair of knee high leather boots, and my "snow and ice everywhere" boots that I've owned for.. about 12 years now.. and one pair of "just regular black shoes with laces"
I have exactly ten pairs all up- most are gym shoes that can double as casual shoes in that flat sole skate style, either Adidas limited editions or low top Converses in staple colours. The others are one pair of hiking boots, one pair of Jesus style sandals, one pair of squat shoes for my weightlifting with a wooden heel. I have one naughty pair of crimson, velvet, high-inch hooker heels for sexy play time with the man (I'd never wear them out).

Good ideas to tell people for what to get you for your birthday? (young adult)

Money. It never fails. That way people don't feel like they need to buy you a gift. They can just give you $20 and you buy the gift yourself. They're happy, you're happy, and everyone else is happy. Win-win all around.

Do you consider yourself an interesting/boring person? How so?

I think I'm boring. I don't have any hobbies besides reddit and occasionally binging a tv show, I haven't experienced a lot of interesting things (that are positive), there's nothing I know particularly much about, and if you talk to me I don't know what to say most of the time. Regarding the hobbies, there are a few things I'd like to get into (like oil painting and wood carving) but I don't have that much money and it always costs so much initially to buy all the tools and stuff and if I have the choice of either spending my money on lots of takeaway food and clothing or on tools that I don't even know I'll use twice, it's not a difficult decision. Mostly, I'm infinitely curious about the world and people. When I meet someone new I see a chance of learning more, discovering someone and finding out what we might have in common. I've cultivated all this diversity of interests because every member of my family likes different things and we always pay attention to each other and learn from each other (dad's a mathematician and physicist who has a rock band, mom is an interior-design nerd who loves science documentaries and learning about different cultures, big brother is a history-geek, programmer and photographer who rescues dogs, sister in law is an engineer and practices karate, middle brother is a writer and editor who's getting into graphic design and wants to study history, i've even adopted many interests from my little nephews and niece, like some cartoons and videogames). I also have a witty and silly sense of humor (thanks to both my parents) and most of the times feel confident around people (other times I get very anxious) mostly because I know I can handle pretty much any conversation topic (either because I have something to contribute or because I know nothing about it but want to learn a bit). I also try to make other people feel comfortable, specially if they're shy. I'm always respectful. Of course, to some people I would be boring anyway. Some might not like my sense of humor or whatever. Also, most of my hobbies are done inside, so I'm trying to get into something that would take me outside (installed PokemonGo for this reason but I'm considering going back to french classes) because I'm dating someone. But right now? Boring as fuck. I'm a student, and all I basically do is study, party, Netflix and occasional interesting things related to my degree. I can't afford to indulge in my hobbies, or have the time to travel even around my country. I like gaining extra knowledge through reading and stuff, but I'm awful at retaining it, so I'm not very good at contributing to meaningful conversations regarding stuff like politics. I'm good at chatting biology, feminism, climate change and animals, that's pretty much it.

Help me get to 500 followers by creating 9 fake accounts and then following me! Thanks much

thecasualfanrises’s Profile Photocf
But.....what is the benefit of having followers that way? It doesn't buy you any kudos with Ask.fm, since you'd technically only have 9 accounts with only about 50 followers each. If you're doing it for a personal feeling of accomplishment, you'd really only have about 50 individual followers, and 9 accounts to tend.

What creates our tastes in life? Why do we endorse, accept or buy something, and ignore or blunt other matters?

KubaGR571’s Profile Photo¥ Kuba GR =)=
I think that all depends on your surroundings really. You usually get interested in the things you surround yourself with. And humans don't seem to like things they aren't used to.

How much "Stuff" do you own? Are you good at getting rid of the things you don't need or do you get attached? If you do get rid of something, how do you usually prefer to do so? 🗑💵🤲

TobbeAsks’s Profile Photoᛏᛟᛒᛒᚨ
i need to do something about my materialism problem and hoarding too much material things.
Old clothes I'll never wear, I seem to hold on to. Because they're seasonal and what if I need them.
I throw it out. I don’t hold onto things in case I need it 40 years from now. I’ll buy an updated version if I do ever need something.
I don't own much of anything. I lost everything when I became homeless 13 years ago and learned you don't really need much.

Have you ever been rude to someone you didn't want to? 🌚🥀

mahnoorjadoon7’s Profile Photo✨ ENCHANTRESS ✨
Seriously thou why would people ASK you, how did you like whatever they did/bought/said/arranged and thought of, if they just wanna hear it was lovely, all though you might not think the same? 🙂
Nobody ever says I didn’t like it but those who do, are rude? Why? Appreciating someone’s effort is one thing, but asking someone whether they liked whatever the other person did or not is another (There can be a lot of different scenarios but by no means, am I talking about the underprivileged here.)
I put so much effort when I buy something for someone. I make sure, I’m going for something the other person is going to like atleast if not love! 🌚
I absolutely hate ‘Eternity’ for women. Now somebody could be glad they bought a Calvin Klein perfume for me but i don’t like it and IF they’d ask, I’d absolutely tell them. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Gifts and surprises are a gesture of love, you shouldn’t have to pretend to like them if you don’t and I don’t think it’s rude.
After all, what was your intention? Getting praised or making the other person happy?

Pleures-tu souvent ? À cause de quoi ? 👻

mandybovare6’s Profile PhotoMandy Bovaëre
I'd say it probably averages out to be once or twice every couple of weeks. A lot of the time it's because I'm stressed out and/or having problems with anxiety. But I'll also cry when I'm happy, or if I'm watching a movie or something that smacks me right across the face with a bunch of feelings. Or if I'm frustrated with a particular task or situation. Or just like. Whenever haha. I'm not ashamed about crying, despite how many people tell me that I need to grow up or whatever. I'd rather cry to let out my feelings than punch the shit out of something or some other form of release.
I don't think I've gone more than two days in the last 3 months without crying at least a little, sometimes a lot more. I'm a crier in general though - I cry when I'm frustrated or angry as well as just sad. I cry at podcasts and commercials. But even this level is unusual for me, but I'm in a ~super fucked up situation~ at the moment. I'm gonna buy myself something deep fried when I manage to go 4 days without crying.
Basically once a day I tear up, but I probably only sob-cry a few times a year. I'm like you, I'm definitely the happiest I've been in a long time right now! I just feel so full of emotions all the time, all of them. And when I see or hear about something super touching or sad, I have no more space for feelings so I start leaking out the feelings via my eyes. I cry most often when my best friend posts pictures of her baby girl or husband on instagram. I love their little family and it makes me cry? Today I got teary eyed because I told my therapist that I wanted to spend as much time with my parents as I could since they only have about 20 years left. I'm tearing up just typing that, I love my parents so much and hate thinking of how sad it will be to see them deteriorate! And the other recent one I can remember is from a week ago, I was getting a drink with a friend and she was telling me about a really sweet moment she had with her boyfriend and I started crying into my margarita. It was just so sweet and I loved hearing about how much they love each other!
I can cry over the stressful things in my life or because I got a paper cut. I can cry over anything if I'm in a particular mood. I'm emotional and my tears come easily. I cry about twice a week nowadays (sometimes less or more, depending on PMS) but this is huge progress for me. I used to fight it, but now I've kind of come to terms with it. I'm just compassionate and sentimental and a worrier and that's just fine.
Very little. I have 2 fears in the world; death and losing control over myself. When you cry, you lose control over yourself for a brief period of time, so I focus on why I'm feeling a certain way and how I deal with it. By essentially robot-ing my way through situations, I feel that I can approach problems much more efficiently than if I cried.

What if you fancy someone who has a partner?

There is no harm in fancying someone, you can't help it if you like someone. But you have to accept that they are not available. It's a bit like looking at a beautiful, expensive car. It looks amazing and you might want it but it's out of your reach and you can't have it. You buy your own car. 🙂
