I think I'll always look back on my twenty-fourth birthday with great fondness, and a big part of the reason why is because it was the first birthday I celebrated with my then-boyfriend, now fiancé. We had only been dating for a round about a month at the time and we were still very much in the honeymoon phase, where you are still getting to know each other and everything feels exciting and new.

Anyway, we took the train to a neighbouring city and spent the whole afternoon exploring, chatting, and just having a fun ole' time before stopping for dinner in a cute little Italian restaurant and cocktails in a swanky bar after.

At some point during the evening, we wound up having a heart-to-heart, and though I won't share the details of that conversation here - since it is rather personal - I will never forget the words we exchanged. I think I knew right then that he was the one.

Ich wurde verhaftet, als ich Sachen aus meinem Auto holen wollte. Als Dresdner war man ja gleich ein Na*zi. Nach kurzer Überprüfung durfte ich dann aber wieder gehen.
Tagsüber war dann alles wieder ruhig. Erst zum Abend hin ging es wieder los. Diesmal noch heftiger, zum Teil organisiert und koordiniert. Ich sah Autos (nicht nur mit Rostocker Kennzeichen sondern mit Kennzeichen aus anderen nördlichen Bundesländern) die Flaschenkästen mit besagten Cocktails ausluden, die dann verteilt wurden. Es gab Leute mit Funkgeräten die offensichtlich als Beobachter fungierten und die freien Wege wiesen. Und die Gew*alt nahm nochmal an Heftigkeit zu. Aber es gab auch Widerstand gegen dieses Vorgehen, Solidärität, Hilfe und Beistand für die Op*fer. Die Berichterstattung im Fernsehen war sensationslüstern, spiegelte nicht annähernd das wieder, was geschah. Ging sogar zu weiten Teilen an der Realität vorbei. Nur das ZDF gab sich Mühe objektiv zu berichten. Den Privaten, so hatte ich das Gefühl, fehlte jede Spur von Verantwortung.
Die Polizei zog sich während der schlimmsten Phase zum S-Bahnhof zurück und überließ die Menschen dem aufgebr*achten Mob, für Stunden. Erst zum Wochenende hat man dann die ang*egriffenen Menschen in ein altes Kasernengebiet mit mehr Sicherheit gebracht und die Kraw*alle hörten auf.
Ich bin mir sicher, dass vieles von dem, was ich hier nur ansatzweise schildern konnte, in der breiten Öffentlichkeit nicht bekannt ist. Damit sich so etwas nicht wiederholen kann, muss über Ursachen, Versäumnisse, Inkompetenz und Zivilcourage gesprochen werden (vor allem geschichtliche, politische, wirtschaftliche, psychologische und soziale Hintergründe, die den Nährboden für die Gew*alt bereitet haben). Nicht nur zwei Stunden während des Gemeinschaftskundeunterrichts an den Schulen. Sondern immer wieder!

Ohhhh endlich mal eine Frage zu einem Thema, mit dem ich mich bestens auskenne weils an der Uni mein Lieblingsfach war (Entscheidungstheorie): In den Gulli gehen:
1. Grün, könnte Pfefferminze sein und davon fange ich an zu dampfen
2. Gelb, könnte gerade so ein Flying Kangaroo sein... aber da wird zu oft am Galliano gespart
3. Weiß, aber nur wegen der sch**** political correctness, will mich ja morgen noch aus dem Haus trauen dürfen. Wobei doch so eine schöne Erinnerung an den Dude und deinen weißen Russen! Könnten aber auch komische Zutaten drin sein. Wer Furries kennt weiß was ich meine... ugh. „Cubukake Libre“ oder so? Nnnneeeee, danke...

Ich bin ehrlich gesagt ziemlich enttäuscht vom Sommer dieses Jahr. Nachdem wir hier im Schwarzwald fast 5 Monate Dauerschnee und Kälte hatten, habe ich mich sehr auf den Sommer gefreut. Ich wollte offene Schuhe tragen, schöne Kleider, baden gehen, Eis essen, mit Freunden grillen und Cocktails im Garten trinken... Tja, davon ist leider nicht viel passiert. Ich hatte nach meiner Kündigung den kompletten Juni frei, da hätte ich gerne was erlebt, aber es war Dauerregen angesagt. Sehr vieles, was ich gerne gemacht hätte, ist buchstäblich ins Wasser gefallen und nun habe ich im neuen Job dieses Jahr keinen Urlaub mehr.
Ändern kann man es nicht, ich versuche, noch das beste draus zu machen und werde mir die Wochenenden so schön gestalten wie möglich. Wenigstens habe ich jetzt welche, da ich nicht mehr im Sc.heiss Verkauf arbeiten muss.

- es wurde direkt noch eine weitere Woche Urlaubsvertretung drangehängt
- immer wieder Enttäuschungen von Menschen, die ich Mal zu sowas wie einem Freundeskreis zählte

Most of my weekends are like that! My usual Saturday: sleep in, wake up whenever, my SO makes us breakfast and coffee, we lay around in pajamas and watch tv. Then we go out for lunch to some place we love or have been waiting to try. After we walk around a town and poke in shops or the farmers market. If the weather's nice we go hiking or to the beach. If not, we go shopping or visit friends. Sometimes we do road trips to local places or historic sites. Then we'll either plan for dinner out or buy groceries and make dinner at home. Some weekends we have tickets to shows and go see bands play. If so, we'll stay out, grab drinks at the bar. Then we come home and chill. Sex, usually. And then bed.
Wake up early, coffee in the dark, while the house is silent. Head out the door for a morning run as the sun comes up. Home again and load up the boards and wetsuits.Throw some good shit in the crock pot and head out for a surf session with my kids and hubby. Go out and get exhausted in the water. Change into warm, comfy sweats and stop for a round of coffee/hot chocolate on the way home. Eat the good shit from the crock pot and then tuck in for an afternoon nap. Lazy for the rest of the day. Read or watch movies. Hot tea. Or a good beer. Sunset stroll on the beach. Then fall asleep early while reading a good book.
I like the idea of being able to make a really delicious breakfast, early in the morning, while catching up on my favorite podcasts. I have plans with friends to go shopping or go to a museum and we stop at some cute little ice cream shop and talk for a long, long time. Then I go get my family's favorite take-out with a bottle of Barefoot pink moscato and a cheesecake. My mom and sister and I fall asleep on the couch in the middle of a "Say Yes to the Dress" marathon. I wake up and read in bed until 2 am and fall asleep with the book in my face. Wake up naturally around 8. Head to a bakery and buy myself a nice pastry. Then wander around the little shops for a bit before slipping into a small bookstore. Browse for probably way too long, as I have no sense of time when I go into bookstores. Well, sleep in. And wake and bake for sure. Then I would indulge in breakfast at my favorite diner with my SO. Then we would take a walk by the lakefront, maybe stop for a honey latte. Then, we would go to the motherfucking antique shop, or to a cutesy hipster "shop local" place, or even our Public Market. Then we'd get diner as a gastropub or cantina, and end the night with cocktails at a beer hall type place, or a beer garden. That would be my absolute perfect day!
I sleep in a little, have sex with my SO. Then we get up, shower and go out to our favorite breakfast joint. Then we head to the farmers market for some veggies, meat and other things for dinner. When we get home we take the dogs out to the park or for a long walk somewhere. If it's nice out, we go to the dog beach.

The bartender at this place I go to created a drink called a Lady Jane. He infuses gin with Earl Grey tea, adds a lavender simple syrup and some lemon stuff. Shakes it with an egg white. It's really good and pretty unique.
Guava juice (the thick pink kind). mango agua fresca. as for alcohol, my go-to is a bourbon ginger ale or caipirinha, BUT my favorites are mixed by someone more talented. the best ever has been Makers Mark with pear, ginger, molasses, and green tea. Second is a yuzu highball (with good Japanese whiskey or scotch). Soft drinks and whatnot, Coke Zero or ice cold Diet Pepsi depending on how much of the other I've drank recently.
Alcoholic drinks, Moscow Mule or dark rum for a kind of funny reason. Before I ever had a chance to drink I decided I wasn't going to be a cringey kid choking down a bud lite when the opportunity presented itself, I decided that I'd be a suave James Bond esque drinker with a refined palate and a firm understanding of 'real drinks.' So I arbitrarily decided that I like dark rum because Jack Sparrow was cool and Moscow Mules because I googled a list of cocktails for ideas and thought the copper mug was neat.
I was a diet coke junkie for like 30 years (think 10 or so cans a day). When I needed to have stomach surgery (hiatal hernia) I was advised not to drink carbonated beverages, and to drink a warm beverage whenever I was eating. So, I switched to green tea. Fast forward a year, and my blood pressure had dropped so low (89/54) that I was able to phase off my BP medication for good.
Honest Tea brand honey green tea. It's my favorite bottled tea ever-- has a murky sweetness that isn't cloying, and sometimes it almost tastes a little smoky to me. But mostly it reminds me of my summer after high school, when I was working on a farm in my hometown. I'd get a bottle of that tea after sweating all day in the scorching sun and it would be so cold and refreshing, and I'd just melt into my desk chair in my stifling room upstairs without a care in the world. Drinking it kind of brings me back to that moment of bliss.
Whiskey. I’m very underage by like 7 years- and I didn’t do it to “look cool” it was only my family around. But I like the burning at the back of the throat. If it wasn’t alcohol, I’ll have to go with coffee since it helps me focus at school. Not gonna pick. I always have something handy. Coffee in the morning, water in the day, green tea in the afternoon. For a fun change (we don't drink soda at our house), a splurge on Cherry Limeades from Sonic on the odd weekend.
Shaken vodka gibson (martini with onions instead of olives), preferably Grey Goose or Chopin, but otherwise whatever's in the well. The best way to make it is to fill the shaker with vodka, walk across the room, think "vermouth" in its general direction (not too hard), shake and serve. Really brut champagne and almost any Irish whiskey as well.
