If a person like Imran Khan, no matter the political differences, can ask people to donate their funds for a cause then why do we feel any hesitation at all in doing the same thing? Don't be shy ever to do the right thing. Remember, it's people's job to criticize all the time. Just continue doing the right thing.

I am right now playing my part to raise funds for the flood victims of Pakistan, so, I can't state everything in detail about the current situation and what my thoughts are about it, but I can share some points:

---

• Nobody has the right to take credit for the flood victims' aid; especially no institute or politician. The generous people of Pakistan and some outsiders are the only ones responsible for facilitating the affected people in this time of need. The ones who are taking credit, or want to take credit, are actually the ones responsible behind all this chaos.

---

• Many people of Pakistan look at such calamities as a business opportunity. They have increased the prices of their products and services right now.

---

• People are donating a lot even in this inflation but it cannot go on much longer; for weeks or months.

---

• There should have been a number of dams in Pakistan but it's always been the case that all the resources of Pakistan have always been stolen by the corrupt officials, politicians and governments.

---

• A country with 220 to 240 million population is dependent upon aids from Europe, it is hurtful; and disgraceful and also humiliating. The reason behind it is corruption by the overall administration.

---

• Scammers are also seeing this as a business opportunity: media is concerned about its ratings, YouTubers are concerned about catching more viewers, fake NGOs are collecting donations as theft and so on. In short, people are corrupt, and I'm talking about the majority of the total population.

• NGOs have no helicopters or boats. That's the reason why their efforts are not being much fruitful.

---

• People pay so much tax in Pakistan, yet the so called forcefully imposed government is asking people to donate; if they're left with anything.

---

• Politics has nothing to do with humanity. A Muslim will always prefer #HumanityOverEverything.

Oof - Well that sounds pretty tough then, if a single item can’t be over £2000!
The only things I can think of are: paying off any existing loans or debts my parents may have, I’d say pay off my student loan too as that’s not a tangible item? If that doesn’t count, then at least put £2000 towards paying it off.

Other than that, I’d pay for the refurbishment that my mum has always wanted to do - redesigning the garden, replacing any broken or slightly damaged items, building my own art studio, setting up my mum’s business, buying any filming equipment my brother may need, bulk buying any art supplies I may need, any repairs that my dad’s car may need, booking a few holidays and everything that goes with for my family in advance, etc etc.

Anything that will basically serve a purpose in the long run. After everyone’s catered for, I’d give some to extended family or friends and then donate to charities too :)

I am not sure I would use the word "friend" to describe relationships on askfm or any social network. I tend to use the word "followers" because most people on askfm either follow you because they enjoy your writing and thought process or they are not interested and do not follow.

Also, I do not think you are pathetic because you do not have any friends. I happen to believe that forming genuine friendships is the most difficult task that humans attempt to undertake, You are lucky, and I mean this most sincerely, if you are able to develop one meaningful friendship in your entire life. I know...I know, we all know people who have one hundred friends who they adore and consider essential, right? But watch how many of these "friends" step to the plate when you are diagnosed with kidney failure to offer to donate their kidney to save your (their best friends) life. Let me perform a quick mathematical computation i.e. 1+1=0

How is this possible? Because the "friendship" assumption was false and the proof is that when your life is at risk and you need an organ transplant, your "friends" will disappear like cockroaches. How do I know this? From personal experience. My son is a well know sax player in Los Angeles who claimed to have over 100 "friends." And Facebook indicates that he has over 2,000 "friends" and "fans." Yet when he was near death from kidney failure none of his "friends" offered to help him. He is alive today because his father donated one of his kidneys.

I like to use this example to demonstrate that the hundreds of "friends" that popular people claim to have is nothing but a hoax, an illusion and a cruel deception. The measure of a genuine friend is determined not when you are healthy and life is going well, but when you have hit rock bottom and are confronted with death. It is then when your true friends will carry you to safety and nurse you back to health.

And so I would advise you to not worry about not having fair weather "friends." If you are fortunate, you will have one true friend sometime in your life. I had such a friend for 50 years but unfortunately he died on February 21, 2021 from cancer. He was my only true friend and although I would love to have another friend, I do not expect such good fortune will befall me, but that is ok because I have my family, my dog, my writing and my music to keep me company and comfort me.

I first heard this song when I was attending college in 1971 and I immediately could relate to the lyric because it does a beautiful job of describing what I believe a friend should be but all too often isn't. The fact is that we all long to develop life long friendships and yet, many of us live our lives with very few if any genuine friendships. Case in point: in 2010 when my son was diagnosed with kidney failure a request was made to all of his family and "friends" for a kidney donation. Considering that my son is a well known musician and has literally hundreds of friends, do you want to guess how many "friends" offered to help? ZERO. So in order to save his life, at age 58 I stepped to the plate and donated a kidney. It is very unusual for an elderly person to be allowed to donate, but I used my ability to reason which persuaded the surgeons to proceed with the operation.

Why? Although my son believes that he has 100 friends, I understood what genuine friendship really means and as a result I knew none of his so called "friends" would ever help him survive. Perhaps I am too cynical or fatalistic, but once again I hear Carole King's refrain:

And to my followers who are reading this, genuine friendship is not defined by how many people claim to be your friend; rather, friendship is defined by how your "friends" react when you are suffering and have lost hope. A friend will listen to you, offer advice and when necessary they will risk their life to save yours. And that is why I say" you are lucky if you find one true friend during your life on earth.

What are they so fearful of that they refuse to identify themselves, as they lurk in the shadows and hide in the dark veil of anonymity?

Then I think that perhaps they hide because their arguments consist of left wing talking points such as: sexism, racism, homophobic-ism, and bigoted-ism and are not grounded in reason, logic, facts or scientific evidence. Instead, these anonymous left wing attacks are in fact a form of hate speech and is an ideology built upon hate designed to silence the opposition and prevent thoughtful and reasoned debate, negotiation and compromise.

If the woke activists are so concerned about our society and culture:

1. Why are woke activists silent when it comes to the black on black violence within cities i.e. Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, Los Angeles and NYC?

It probably has to do with my growth. I grew up in a warm environment ( my school ) in which I took care of my friends and was rly loved and I loved them a lot and we supported each other. I have never forgot about all of them even until today and even though I wasnt the most capable at keeping all my relationships working after many years I still communicate with many of them on the daily/monthly and they are all and will always be rly important ppl to me
So basically its just who I am by now and Im glad to say Id happily give my life to save someone in trouble or dedicate my life to them and Im happy to say that Im sure Ive helpt some people. Though Id rly like to have more people in my life and to not have ended up so lonely and in a weird life situation. Hopefully if kindness was something common in my life 10 years ago maybe it can touch me again after all these years of sorrow or maybe then at least after death I can go back to those beautiful days or every night in my dreams. because I need it, because when I'm kind to people I know who I am. I used to be a "less than ideal" human being. When I'm kind to people I Know I'm not the same A*shole I used to be. It feels good knowing if someone is talking about you while your not there it's probably something nice. There was a time I couldn't even think of any nice things to say about myself
Because being unkind is mean, and people are sad a lot and are already mean to themselves, and I don’t want the world to be a sad place, so I try to make others happy
I enjoy making people happy….it feels good and sadly I don’t have much to feel good about anymore
It's like a nervous tick. The more anxious I feel, the kinder I am. I'm anxious in public a lot.
Because then people will take me more seriously when I'm upset or angry, and it helps a great deal to have friends. In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
I might not be that kind but I do donate money, which I have done for years.
It is the most basic thing to do. The universe is empty and cold. You can at least be kind to the only other beings that are going through it with you.
People don't have to suffer a little bit extra if it's up to me. Might as well try to spread a tiny bit of warmth. Fuck it. It doesn't cost me anything. I get joy from seeing the smiles I bring to others who appreciate the kindness.
