How do you like this song: I'm asking because it was considered a song of Polish economic emigrants in England. I like it, the more that the audio and video track work together, and did it make an impression on you?
The artist C-BooL in England is very well known and appreciated among the Polish community, especially those who have time not only for work, but also for clubs with Polish music. It is also slowly becoming known in the Netherlands. It is not as well known as your favorite Sanah is in Poland, but C-BooL is not promoted as much as they promote Sanah. They must have come to the conclusion that good music will break through without promotion. I noticed that Poles do not like people who have achieved significant success abroad. Perhaps that is why in the Polish media they promote losers, and people like C-BooL remain unknown. Grab one of his latest songs
C-BooL w Anglii jest dobrze znany i ceniony wśród polonii, szczególnie tej, która ma czas nie tylko na pracę, ale też na kluby z muzyką polskich twórców. How do you celebrate Christmas where you live? Do you have any regional foods, traditions etc.? 🎄🎁

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
Yeah there are some odd regional traditions.
🔔 In Dewsbury they start ringing a church bell (the bell that Black Tom de Soothill once presented the church with as penance for murdering his servant) at 10am and therafter once for each year since the year 0. This must be a nightmare for local residents.
🏰 From Clifford’s Tower in York they hang mistletoe, if a woman stands underneath it it means she wants to be kissed by anyone passing by. (You’re still allowed to fire crossbows in York by the way, providing that you’re shooting at a Scottish person. Conversely, 45 minutes away in Hull, crossbows have been banned since the 1500s.)
🎼 In Dungworth xmas carols are only sung by locals in a local pub ever since carolling was banned in churches hundreds of years ago by Puritans. There’s also a local pub we used to go to for meals (its name escapes me, I think it’s in or near the village of Goodmanham, where a Temple of Odin lies buried beneath the local church) that does public carolling in the pub, and I wonder if this is rooted in the same tradition. Furthermore, the Yorkshire villages of Castleton, Oughtibridge, Bradfield, Ecclesfield and Worrall all have a 200 year old tradition of pub carol singing, and all have their own Christmas carols unique to that village.
🐴 Every Christmas Eve in Richmond marketplace a person wearing a horses head is sung to by a group of huntsmen who then ‘bring it to life’ with hunting sticks and a horn.
🌞 In York Every 21st December (usually the date of Yule or the Winter Solstice) the Sheriff is accompanied around the city by the York Waits playing music. The procession ends with a speech at the Mansion House.
🐠 On Boxing Day at Flamborough Head, eight fishermen perform a sword dance on the high street.
💈 On the common land of Beverley Westwood at Solstice Dawn or Dusk (winter and summer) , local Morris sides often meet to dance at The Black Tower, weather and other restrictions permitting. I have been to this myself, and danced at dawn. Beer and music is to be had in a local pub afterwards.
🍎 During the Christmas Day service at Ripon Cathedral, visitors and parishioners are each given the gift of an apple, a custom that began in Mediaeval times.
⚽️ In Scarborough on Boxing Day the 150-year-old tradition of Firemen versus Fishermen having a football (soccer) match on the beach continues. (I do not know if women can be members of either team, something for me to investigate).
🔥 On 31st December a Viking Fire Festival takes place at Flambrough, with fireballs and the traditional burning of a Viking longship, something that’s practiced in a number of towns in the UK with Viking heritage.
🦃 This year as you tuck into your turkey, give thanks to William Strickland, born on the Yorkshire coast, who brought the bird back to England in 1526. It became a popular Christmas food during the Victorian era.
🧀 for over 100 yers now, Yorkshire folk have enjoyed a slice of cheese with their xmas cake

when asked where you're from, what do you usually respond? does "where you're from" mean the place where you were born/raised, like your "roots", or the place of your current residence?

I never know how to answer this online cause sometimes the person asking is from another country so giving them a rough area is going to make no sense but then if it's someone from this country and I say england then I look stupid cause they're like obviously? 😅

You can choose to spend 12 hours in one of these environments: (1) Victorian England (2) A distant space-station city (3) an Elven forest (4) Ancient Rome (5) Aztec Mexico There is 10% chance that you will experience your chosen place in poverty. Which will you choose and why?

The distant space station city. Although Victorian England and ancient Rome are intriguing as well. But it also scares me a little that I could end up in jail for not knowing the social norms of that specific time that might be accepted nowadays while they were punished at that time. How could I know? Also, the medical healthcare was more experimental than safe... so I go with the space station. Living close to the stars must be peaceful and stunning. I would also love to visit the elves, but also I don't know what they would do to me if they'd see me. x'D So I'm going for the stars anyways.

Man, I’d happily spend 12 hours in all of those environments!! It’s hard to choose… though granted, the idea of being in poverty in Victorian England would be pretty rough, but I’m such a fan of steampunk, so that period of time does appeal!
I think it’s a toss up between Ancient Rome and an Elven forest. The latter because fantasy is my favourite genre to escape into, and being in what would feel like LOTR would be incredible! Ancient Rome would also be absolutely awe inspiring, to witness ancient civilisation at such a peak and experience the history in real time? That and to see the architecture/art… I think it’d blow my mind 🤣

100% an elven forest! I don't think being poor would matter as much there since you could just forage and hunt for food, plus you'd be a magical elf and omg it's my dreeeam!

Are there any interesting local legends where you're from?

DionysusArius’s Profile PhotoMerecas
My personal favourite that’s fairly local to me is the Chanctonbury Ring, with it being known as one of the most haunted locations in
the South Downs.
Legend has it, that the Devil had a hand in the formation of Chanctonbury Ring. When he discovered that the inhabitants of Sussex were being converted from previous pagan religions to Christianity he decided to drown them, with Sussex being the last county in England to convert to Christianity. If they converted, then the Devil would lose more of his power over the country.
He began digging a trench down to the sea from Poynings, sending large quantities of earth in every direction, one of which became Chanctonbury (I believe that the Isle of Wight may have been another). However, he was not to complete his work. An old lady living nearby placed a sieve in front of a lighted candle on her window ledge, in turn disturbing a cockerel perched on a fence. The devil heard the cockerel and, looking over his shoulder, saw what he thought was the sun rising and so fled before completing his task. (There are multiple versions to the latter part of the tale, this is just the one I know).
It is also said, that you can raise the devil at Chanctonbury Ring by running around the clump of trees seven times in an anti-clockwise direction. When he appears, he will offer you a bowl of soup or even porridge, in exchange for your soul.
My favourite association with the legend is that the Ring has gained something of a reputation in connection with witchcraft, UFO’s, ghosts and strange forces - particularly during the 70s, with levitations and sighting happening. Then you have the connection with the occult and Aleister Crowley frequently visiting the Ring too :)

How do you describe your personality?

An antisocial introverted homebody. I just want to stay home with my dog! But if you’re in my inner circle and you need me, I’ll bend over backwards for you. If you work with me, you’ll never guess I’m an introvert. I’m non confrontational by default but my silence should never be mistaken for acceptance. I’m also a deeply empathetic realist.
I’m pretty damn anti-social, even when at simple places like a park with other strangers there. I’m really unapproachable but will be much nicer than I look to people I haven’t met yet. I’m kinda weak mentally and physically (unlike my mom and my sisters they’re fricking QUEENS). When somebody agitated me so much to the point I can’t take it anymore, I sometimes snap at them (which I wish I could stop), and I behave a little impulsively.
Mr Toad when it comes to my interests, whimsy and mania and all. Very curious and feeling, insecure with romance but very romantic. Told I look intimidating (tall, dark hair, pretty, etc) but I feel like a sweet baby bunny on the inside. I feel masculine but like to play with femininity and express both. I like to be around people and be alone, its all about balance. I have things about myself that I'm working on like shame and anxiety. I love emotional intimacy and stimulating conversations. Smart ass with dad energy and silly, very silly.
I’m extremely loyal to my loved ones. No-drama, just a shoulder to lean on and someone to depend on. Honestly, though, really damn stubborn. Also the kind of person who will never ask for help and prefers to work things out alone.
Chaotic (in a charming way), intellectual, playful,, open-minded, flexible, childlike, knowledgeable, verbose, analytical, disorganised…introverted energy, habits and preferences but , extroverted appearance of social skills (mostly when around introverts, the extroverts see through it quite quickly)…self-reflective, forgetful, self-deprecating, obsessive, hypochondriac, over-thinker, unfocused, impulsive, authentic, honest, book smart but I appear ditzy in social and practical situations. Always curious… always caffeinated…
I’m nice to everyone I meet but I live in Northern England so nice behaviour is seen as suspicious and disingenuous. It takes people a while to realise I’m just…. Nice.
Outgoing, approachable, empathetic, and outwardly-confident. Also I have a fucked up sense of humor most people like.

Answer: Maine Lobster

If you had to move away from the country where you currently live, what things would you miss the most? 🛩🏠😕

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
I think at first I will miss people and connections, probably. Like, if I get siсk, I know where to go and how to fоrge presсriptions to the phаrmacy; if something is brоken in the house, I know that it's uselеss to call the landlord and I need to repair everything myself; all sorts of little things like that. Like, at first I won't know where the gаrbage sorting is, how to fill out taxes, where you can buy fabric or glue or something specific, how to buy a car and so on, so I'll bother the locals (or google) with stuрid questions.
The good thing is that, in a sense, I'm ready (and bothering google with dumb questions in advance). For example, if you drop me off in Scotland, China, Japan, Korea, America, Australia, England, Canada, Ireland, Kazakhstan (maybe a little, I don't speak the first official language, but I know the second) I won't even feel like an аlien. I have done my research and am quickly getting used to the new conditions. I see my friends a couple of times a month or two and communicate more online anyway. Many things that I'm used to are changing and disappеaring even here, so soon there will be nothing to miss.

How’s the cost of living in your city pre and post covid? Is there a change? Did you change your lifestyle accordingly?

I don't live in a city lol
But either way, like everywhere else, the prices of most things have risen!
🌸 Fuel
🌸 Food
🌸 Cleaning products
🌸 Medicines
🌸 General items
All of these have risen in price! Not even by a little, some are a pretty substantial change. Most of this has nothing to do with Covid. It's mainly to do with the current conflict in the world, as well as England choosing to leave the EU.
As for what I've done, I haven't.
I still need the medication, so still get it. I need to use my car for work etc, so have no choice. Ditto with food etc.
Everything is more expensive, but wages haven't been raised to compensate. And by the attitude the government had, they won't be.

Okay, it seems as if everyone is a little angry at my idea of deleting America and England to kickstart world peace..so instead, we will put all the brits and the Americans on one island to solve the whole heart disease, tooth decay discord.

... as interesting as that concept is... wow.. you can't judge 2 whole countries because of a portion of people :)
Every country has both good and bad! Also "deleting" England and America wouldn't create world peace. It would create a power struggle over the resources that both countries have.
Not to mention there is a current war going on that isn't in either England or America, so that would still happen.
Things would be better for everyone if there was less toxicity, which to be fair is slightly radiating in this shout out :)

Szeretsz olvasni? Van kedvenc könyved?

Imádok, az egyik kedvencem tavaly nyár óta a Tízezer ajtó Alix. E. Harrow-tól. Igazi könyv a könyvben (a könyvben...) és szinte simogatja az ember szemét, olyan szépen van megírva. Aki a fantasy műfaját kedveli, annak szerintem kötelező darab.
Most a Mrs. England című könyvet olvasom Stacey Halls-tól, ami eddig történetében nagyon emlékeztet a Charlotte Brontë-féle Jane Eyre című klasszikusra.

How are you guys spending your summer?

Summer officially starts on Saturday, when we beat the Netherlands. Damn, I should be running around the streets of England right, now painted in yellow and blue, screaming like a hooligan.
Maybe @wenii313 would have arrested me. That's probably against the law☹️

London. England was the first and, so far, the only first world country I've ever visited. The quality of life was so much different, I speak the language, and walking on the street gave off a very strange vibe. It was a good vibe, but I couldn't understand what it was at first. Later I realized that strange feeling was not feeling stranger abroad. I often go abroad, as a tourist: I don't speak the language, I know little-to-nothing about the locals, the events, the culture, the history, and I blindly wander around places hoping that I would find something interesting. That time nothing felt stranger to me: I knew where to go and how public transportation works, I could talk to people, the buildings were all familiar, the stores too. It felt like home, but it was so much better because the people were so first-world compared to the Hungarian second-or-third-worldians.
