What makes you different from other people?

RAQ1198’s Profile PhotoRamsha
Idk about you but I make sure when I get something for someone, they will atleast like it if not love it! because what is this trend of courtesy lying when people ask you, if you like what they got you and you fake happiness even if you hate it?
Like it’s a norm really! you are not allowed to be truthful and why? Because, it is rude?
You know what is actually rude?
Spending even 1 cent on somebody without doing the bare minimum effort of trying to find out their likes and dislikes.
Like gifts are SUPPOSE to make a person happy but that wasn’t even your notion to begin with??instead of knowing you just assumed, that is rude!
Not thinking about the person you got it for, rather the money you spent on buying the trash, they wouldn’t even want, no matter what the price tag may be, that is rude.
And frankly you don’t even have to ask, you can see it on their face when they’re genuinely happy and when they’re just trying to keep your heart.
It started with your ease and ended with your ego satisfaction, where was the other person in all this? What was the point of this gift? 🥴

What do you have a strong inclination to?

But I have this penchant for neatness. He kept something of it... a love for work well done, a strong inclination for pessimistic endings, and for plain truth.
Right from the beginning of our optioning the book, my producing partner Dale Rosenbloom, encouraged my strong inclination that I would both adapt and direct Radio Free Albemuth.
A strong inclination for study, has gifts for teaching, has clear ideas, a well favored memory.
As a little girl, she was mostly interested in horses, dogs and sports and started to show a strong inclination towards everything relating to the world of fashion.
Did you know that no other German state has as many patents registered per person as Baden-Württemberg, namely 120 patents per 100,000 residents? It is often said that many people here are actually born with a strong inclination toward perfection.
She has a strong inclination to create something which looks instinctive and effortless.
His penchant for the bottle cut his career short.
Before he became Mother Teresa, Tommy had a big-time penchant for joyriding.
The closest I come to the revolution is my penchant for tea.
I have a penchant for hyperbole to aggrandize myself.
My mother's always had a penchant for drama.
I see you haven't lost your penchant for shameless self-promotion.
He had a penchant for ignoring orders and following his impulses.
So my penchant for hugging other people has earned me the nickname Dr. Love.
He has a penchant for whistling at pretty ladies he sees on the street.
Mariah Carey is an undisputable diva among divas - and not just because of her notorious penchant for the six-star life.
You have a gift for corruption and a penchant for betrayal.
In fact, all women have a real penchant for rings, earrings, bracelets, which are fanciful or quite luxurious.
I have a penchant for the truth, something your TV show gave up around episode two.
My friend has a bit of a penchant for the dramatic.
Abraham had a penchant for being critical and had no hesitation in publicly chastising his colleagues, regardless of their rank or position.
He excels in all his subjects, but he seems to have a penchant for political studies and history, particularly military.
She was gaining a reputation as a fast and loose party girl... with a penchant for dancing, drinking and men.
I noticed in your records you have a penchant for tardiness.
Understated and reliable: perfect for the man with a penchant for keeping it easy, comfortable and casual.
I was too little to be able to recall, it was mama who had told me.I had hardly begun walking and I already showed my penchant for independence.
Being of blood type A myself, and supposedly having a penchant for particulars, I would like to I think I will just leave it at that.

What is Elf on a Shelf all about ??

bigboypete’s Profile PhotoAndy ♥
American creepiness .
Feeble attempt to intimidate children into 'being good'
The creepy doll/puppet sits on a shelf , spying on kids , deciding if they deserve xmas gifts
Sadly its been sent across to us
Ironically it is a corruption of various (more friendly) European traditions , where some character or other visits , WITH AN EARLY GIFT , and extols the recipient 'to be good' ~ at school , help mummy & daddy etc.
My dad did it , being Walloon-Belgian, when I was around 3 , brought the nice gift , stern-warning to be good . . .
I totally shat myself (metaphorically) , I went into shock so bad , my ma had to persuade me it was only my dad . . .
But it scarred me for life ~ haha ~
[REMEMBER: I don't have the damn ask-app ; so can't see comments there!!!]

What do you think is worth waiting for? Why? 🕒 👍 🙃

redoasis2017’s Profile Photo❆❆❆❆❆ †êñå¢ï𵧠†ðmm奙 ❆❆❆❆❆
The best things in life are worth waiting for.
Totally worth it.
The most beautiful and precious things in life like friendship, love of life, job satisfaction, meaningful relationships and life’s purpose, take time and are worth waiting for.
We are constantly being conditioned to get our desire/intent fulfilled instantly by technological advancements in the areas like internet and smartphone. This doesn’t mean the ‘easy-to-use accessories’ around us are bad, they are good if used in a balanced way.
We then subconsciously start to seek instant gratification in everything in life, be it relationships, friendships or job satisfaction. Instant gratification isn’t possible in these areas of life. These are the most valuable and precious gifts of our life that you cannot demand to show up just because you want, you simply earn them after going through a tough, messy and long journey. And the journey takes time and patience.
The day when you will find your love of life, you will realize that the person is worth every ounce of your patience and worth your entire life. Sitting idle and expecting things to show up doesn’t happen, you have to be consistent in making efforts to achieve what you want.

How good of a gift giver would you say that you are? Do you like to put thought into the gifts you give? 🎁

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
I try to be thoughtful in my gifts, but I'm sure I don't hit the mark as often as I'd like. But I have found that every Christmas I'm giving one gift that really has me excited. It's not planned, and not the same recipient each year. It's just that, in the process of shopping, I find the perfect gift for one person. The kind of gift that makes the recipient feel really special.

Usually, I try to gift people with things they like or things that are useful. If I can't come up with ideas for presents I just ask directly them or loved/close ones around that person, which presents that person I like to gift, would enjoy or need the most.

Oh, I'm not a good gift giver in the slightest, lol. I overthink the whole process, trying to come up with the most thoughtful gift possible, but every idea I come up with is usually logistically difficult to make/buy/gift, or I assume they probably already have the thing or will hate the thing which turns me off buying it and potentially wasting my money. Due to all that, I'm not good at surprising people; I prefer for them to tell me what they want, and failing that, I'll just give them money or gift cards.
That being said, I have been baking more recently and hope to incorporate that into my gift giving, as I'm yet to find a person who will turn down / be displeased by baked goods!!

My family have mostly agreed to stop sending gifts, because nobody ever knew what they wanted and it just wasted a lot of time and a lot of money on things people didn't want or need.
Back when I did send gifts, I did put a lot of thought into it.
I stayed at a friend's house last week and as a Thank You I gave them a couple of really good bottles of wine, and I put in quite a bit of research to find out exactly which wines they would like, and it was worth the effort because they were thrilled with my choices.

I do like putting thought into gifts, which makes me a bit indecisive sometimes cause I want it to be perfect and if I don't feel it is I get stressed. I definitely like it when people give hints or outright say what they want though cause if I'm not sure what to get them, getting them something they already want is nice too :)

It all depends on how much time and money I have, especially the time part takes a huge role!
When I have a lot of time and I know the person very well, I come up with very personalized presents which are packed very nicely. If I don’t have the time, I still try to put as much effort in it, but it shows that I didn’t have as much time lol.

What are your hobbies and how did you get into them? 🧑‍🎨⚽️🛹🎤🎮📖

"What are your hobbies"
💝 making and compiling gifts/care packages for my friends,
🔖 reading,

"how did you get into them?"
💝: I've always loved taking the time to carefully compile/curate gifts for the people I care for. it's something I've always done, ever since I was a child. I really love observing their reactions when I get them to open whatever I've selected/made for them.
🔖: my mama had instilled the love of reading in me at a very young age, and I can get lost in a book for hours on end. now I read during my (long) commutes to and from work.
📝: ...because of my love of stories, I've started writing my own at a very young age. ask any of my primary school classmates, and they can tell you about how much they love my written stories, magazines, and comic books. I've had loyal readers since the very beginning, and for that (and them), I am extremely thankful.
👾: I guess my love for gaming started when my older sister introduced me to neopets back when we were kids. my love for games grew when tamagotchis made their way to singapore, and I was an instant fangirl. if anyone remembers me from tamagotchi forums, I usually went by "pifipatchi". 🐣💕
🛌: I just really love sleep. temporary bliss and rest? yes, please.

nurbzee’s Profile Photonurulhuda
I have not, unless you count my christmas gifts as care packages? lol. Since I can't limit it to one gift, lol.
Though... I'm kinda' looking forward to making one for my bf, when he gets sick... Not that I want him to? But, it would be cute to buy things to make him feel better... and leave notes on the things, for example, like... A box of tissues, I could say "For when you have snifflez" or dvd's of LoTR "To bingewatch together and so you can be reminded that you're my precioussss", ect ect ect :P

I'm not entirely sure if it counts but last year, when the pandemic first hit, my partner and I each took turns putting together a little gift box for each other and sending them in the post! At the time we lived in separate households so we had to isolate from each other for most of the lockdown, which sucked, so sending those little gifts to each other gave us something to look forward to.

Who are you most inspired by? Why?

AdrianaRafaela98’s Profile PhotoAdriianna Rafaella
From Dad I received 👉 love for nature, love for Slovakia, love for history
From Mom I received 👉 love for our folklore, love for handmaking things like sewing, knitting, painting, decorating
and all these gifts I gradually transmitted to my children and as they are quite self-determining personalities, they inspire me a lot too 😃 - daughter by her sport activities, she is pulling me with her to bike, quick walk and to swim and my son loves theater and music so with him I am forced to visit concerst and theatre performances, but I gave him one condition, that I want to see comedies only 😅

I’d like to say I’m pretty good, without sounding arrogant about it but I think giving gifts is important and I much more so enjoy giving them than receiving. So I try my best to give gifts that I know the person will love. I always overspend on mom and also always take the time to make her something too because I think effort is love and I know she appreciates it ☺️ My mother, Robert and my ex’s daughters Christmas gifts are already finished. It's Christmas soon, and how are you celebrating these holidays, if you are celebrating them at all? Is it customary at home to sing Christmas carols and make Christmas gifts for yourself?

KubaGR571’s Profile Photo¥ Kuba GR =)=
We have two Christmas days here in The Netherlands. My family (and lots of others in this country) have the tradition that we spend the first day or Christmas at home with the family, the second day of Christmas we usually go to other family members and celebrate it together.
This year, I’m celebrating the first day of Christmas at my boyfriend’s place. We’re probably going to go out for dinner and I’m not so sure if they’re gonna do presents. The second day of Christmas, we’ll be spending Christmas at my place. We’re gonna give each other presents and we’re probably gonna gourmet that evening.
We usually spend the Christmas days relaxed together whilst playing games.
We never sing, there’s lots of Christmas jingles being played though!

LONG ANSWER:
Some of my nieces’/nephews’ Yule gifts have arrived so I was thinking about unboxing them and checking they’re ok.
However I’ve been too sore and too tired and haven’t been up, so I’ll leave it for another day.
I did book my ‘flu jab though, and I got a text about my Covid booster but I was unable to book it as the system isn’t recognising my details for some reason. So I’ll try again with that another day too.

Missing someone you thought you would cross the finish line with is the worst and the most painful feeling ever. It stays with you no matter how many years it has been or how many new people you have met. The places you went out on dates, the gifts you exchanged, the late night calls, the time when everything else looked ordinary other than that person. You have to make peace with the fact that no matter how much you try, it stays and always will.

If you don't like a gift someone brought you for Christmas/Birthday, do you keep it, say thank you & hide it or give it away or tell them honestly you don't like it?

You never know what you've until you lose it. Do you agree with this statement?

paradiseeve5’s Profile PhotoDuaa.
Completely. Losing my sense of sight is a huge slap of reality, of lost opportunities to see my loved ones (smiles, sadness, anger, wrinkles, greying hair etc), of lost time over watching mindless entertainment shows instead of nature's gifts, of lost ideal careers, of lost independence on accomplishing simple tasks. Losing cherished individuals to death or ego and regretting spoken or unspoken words leaves a lasting pain. Appreciate all in life, the good and the bad, for everything is temporary.
