Yes, I liked my time there.
The job was a good one, working at Director level in a University. Massachusetts is a very nice place, lovely scenery, though people seem to like early mornings and early nights, meaning I tended to socialise with Mexicans and Germans on an evening rather than locals! There’s no outside drinking (except at one spot in Salem I discovered) and I was ‘rescued’ by concerned staff after taking my drink into the beer garden. Plus I was pulled up by a police beach patrol one night for sitting on the beach with friends and beer - it all got confiscated! The campus was dry too. Unis in the UK have a definite drinking culture. The uni in Scotland where I worked had two bars and a nightclub round the corridor from my office. But US campus venues are all booze free. My colleagues were good though.
I went on duty one night with the NEUPD which was an eye opener, staffing metal detectors at a club entrance.
I had a decent curry most lunchtimes from an Indian restaurant near work, found a Judo club to train at, bought a guitar to strum on in the park, and went to college to learn Spanish. So overall it was good, yes.

It'll be 1000 years from now. I'll be born as a handicapped child in New Delhi. I'll gain power and kill all the netizens of Pakistan. Be the King there. I'll change all the laws n punishments and entire constitution of Pakistan and change the nation's name into 'The Republic of Cannibals.' I'll buy cannibals from all diff. countries and forests and protect them in my nation. I'll prepare a highly skilled military force of cannibals and use these cannibal soldiers and my new nation to serve India. Criminals who commit crimes in India will be sent to the Republic of Cannibals and tortured until they join the cannibal military force (they'll have to become cannibals). Severe criminals (rapists, murderers, treacherers, terrorists) will be cooked and eaten on festivals. Cannibal soldiers can have max. 2 children, (the 3rd one will be cooked and eaten). I'll write the new National Anthem of my new nation. India will grow much prosperous than ever under me. Cannibals will be respected all around the world. But later after achieving massive success n power, I'll become greedy and shake hands with China. Now I'll use my special military force to serve China just for power n money. China will throw atom bombs in many European countries and World War 3 will start. China will be responsible for massive destruction all over the globe. I'll realise my mistake that I shouldn't have been greedy for money n power and helped China. I'll commit suicide out of extreme guilt. China will continue to threaten the world. A great scientist will be born in India at that time (reincarnation of APJ Abdul Kalam) and he'll finally invent the formula to be invisible. The Indian Army will use this formula to be invisible. India will join the European forces to defeat China. China will be destroyed by the Indian forces. India will become the most prosperous country after World War 3. The Republic of Cannibals will be included in India as a new state under the greatest scientist and leader (Kalam).

Ez egy nagyon jó kérdés, már csak azért is, mert rávilágított egy izgalmas ellentmondásra az életemben.
Elméletben egy zenésznek szívesebben adnék, mert olyan érzésem van, hogy "megdolgozik a pénzéért", beleteszi a maga részéről is az erőfeszítést. Ezzel szemben a gyakorlatban mindig a kolduló személyeknek szoktam adni (azok közül is csak egy bizonyos rétegnek), mert olyan érzést kelt bennem a megjelenésük, a prezentált élethelyzetük és a lelkileg borzalmas terhet jelentő megalázkodásuk, hogy nekik sokkal nagyobb szükségük van a segítségre. Közrejátszik az is, hogy a zenész nem szólít meg KONKRÉTAN téged, így a társadalmi felelősségvállalás terhe kényelmesen szétoszlik a tömegben, és kevésbé okoz lelkifurdalást elsétálni a probléma mellett. Ezt tetézi, hogy az utcai zenészek külleme általában viszonylag rendezett, a zenélés miatt a műveltség érzetét keltik, valamint a hangszerük miatt úgy érzi az ember, hogy vannak ingóságaik, személyes vagyonkájuk.
Persze az utcai zenészek is több kategóriára oszlanak, és személyes (remélem rendhagyó) problémám, hogy a remek közeg miatt, amelyben élek, nekem elsősorban a félig beh*gyozva tangóharmonikázó úriember vagy a pánsípozó indián képe villan be először a fogalom hallatán... :D Viszont egy teljesen másik véglet a hivatásszerűen minőségi zenét játszó, koncertélményt nyújtó utcai zenészek kategóriája. Ahogy magamon megfigyeltem, az ilyen egyéneknek külföldön nagyon szívesen adok pénzt, itthon viszont nem - ebből kiderül, hogy számomra turisztikai látványosságként vannak elkönyvelve.

Szerintem nem tudom. Mert egy kis zárt világot követek. Abban pedig mindenki csodás. Leila őszinte, és beleszövi az életét, a mentális bajokat. Krisztina mint egy írónő, ráadásul bájos, őszinte, kedves, ragyogó. Dorcsuh magát adja őszinte, vicces. Zsófi nyílt, és kendőzetlen. Rahel S. spirituális, állat természet kedvelő, az indián kultúrát is elénk tárja néhol. Rágó boszi kisasszony könnyed, súlyos témákat érintve. Mégis még hisz a jóban. "Ideiglenes" pedig nem is az. Nagyszerű képekkel, kerek gondolatokkal, Andika meg csupa szeretet, néhol puffog jogosan. Onkel S. egy külön kis világ. Imádom a szakmáját (bár nekem is összejött volna.) Azt hogy ambivalens csodás anya, feleség. De mondjuk a külsejét maga szabályozza tetovált, sötét ruhát hord mesés. Egy avokádó feltárja, hogy igenis a depresszióval inkább meghalna az ember. Mégis imád enni, a kutyusát, csodásan végzi a nehéz munkáját. Szandi egyszerűen nagyszerű.
