What do you think are the world’s three greatest cities ?

mzw_’s Profile Photoناصر العنزي
Of the major cities I've spent decent time in (meaning at least one week), I would have to pick Chicago. The architecture is amazing; the people were very friendly; the skyline is second to none; the food was remarkable; and it seemed to have just the right population density (not over-crowded like NY and Tokyo) but not too small like a Baltimore or San Fran. London is a very close second in my book to Chicago. The thing that puts Chicago over London for me is the architecture (nothing really stands out to me) and the food. Rome would have to be third on my list simply because of the food (Italian is the best in the world, especially the food from the little local places that tourists don't visit because they're too intimidated by the Italian menu that doesn't have a translation). Plus, I love the history of ancient Rome, so I was in absolute heaven there. Not to mention that the Vatican is an amazing thing to see, with all its history, art, architecture, and the Swiss Guards. NY, to me, is over-rated. The people were too self-focused and frankly arrogant (based on the people I encountered, but there are obviously exceptions). They constantly wanted their asses kissed because this is NY and they are New Yorkers, so by default they're better than you. I had one guy get into a conversation with me about how the US capital should be moved to NY because DC is in the middle of nowhere and NY is the capital of the world, so it only makes to move DC to NY. Sydney is the greatest city in the World. It is on a beautiful harbour, we have great beaches, and a relaxed life style. There is always something going on, to please everyone's taste. We can drink and gamble at 18, we don't count pizza as a vegetable, and we don't have the miserable cold weather of other cities.
New York City is the greatest city in the world. I have been to about 30 countries, and many more cities, and New York takes the cake. I'm not talking just Manhattan, I'm talking the five boroughs. It's what's good about every other city combined into one.
It's a very walk-able city with tons of BWOBs, sidewalk cafes, bars and a decent arts scene. It has tons of hospitals and Universities with interesting research and job prospects. "Dedicated sports fans, tons of history" by American standards. Also, you have to love its neighborhood feel, stoop culture and old rowhouses. Most importantly it's home.
You can't really underestimate that last point when answering this question. Who is anyone to say that their city is better... because it's such a subjective question.
I've been to every major US city and my personal favorite is San Francisco. Awesome city and the view around it is fucking gorgeous. I've never seen such beauty in one place. I want to move there when I graduate college.

I’ve been born in Bulgaria but my family moved very shortly after to New Jersey and at age 5 we settled down in West Virginia in a city called Henrietta. That’s where I’ve been raised and spend most of my life. For a few months now I‘m living in London and even though it was difficult for me to leave magical Henrietta behind, I enjoy the change of scenery and feel very comfortable here.

Have you seen the mess all those Scotland hooligans left in London afrer the football, no need for it and especially with the pandemic, messy streets, flowers beds full of empty alcohol cans :(

I haven't, I don't pay any attention to football. But it doesn't surprise me.
Tends to always happen when football is concerned -_-
I'm literally just waiting to be told there will be another lock down. Cuz let's face it, the fans are ignoring any and all social distancing, mask wearing, and safety measures -_-

Hey Andy . How’s it going ? How’s life in London ?

psychobaby1’s Profile Photopsychobaby
Hi Hannah thought you'd left here.
I'm fine I've had my first vaccination and I'm getting out more at last, as things have opened up a bit now.
The weather has been great which is helping but sadly the new covid variant is causing numbers to rise again, so the next stage of easing will be delayed today for another month.
How are things with you are you still working like crazy & earning your fortune??

What do you think everyone should do while in Great Britain? 🇬🇧

TobbeAsks’s Profile Photoᛏᛟᛒᛒᚨ
Oh wow there is so much! It depends what you're into really. I'd definitely recommend from personally visiting:
🇬🇧 Avebury and Stonehenge - largest stone circle with English villiage in the centre and the iconic stone circle
🇬🇧 The Roman Baths and Thermal spa at Bath - see how the Roman's enjoyed the natural thermal waters, 'take the waters' and enjoy the natural thermal modern spa overlooking the city
🇬🇧 Thames River Cruise in London, see all the sights along the banks of the Thames and hop on and off at key parts
🇬🇧 The Shambles at York, lovely 'ye olde' Tudor buildings with boutique shops and near to the impressive York Minster
🇬🇧 Mount Snowden - take the mountain railway to the summit for amazing views. Even the journey here will take your breath away.
🇬🇧 Lindisfarne aka Holy Island - island steeped in history which you can drive to when the tide is low but is a true island at high tide
🇬🇧 Tintagel and Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall - both lovely for a visit but both require a decent level of fitness. Tintagel especially is worth the effort to see the medieval ruins which the locals claim to be home to to the mythical King Authur and Camelot
🇬🇧 Heights of Abraham and Matlock Bath in Derbyshire - lovely traditional English villiage with cable car ride up the cliff and tour of the cave system
🇬🇧 Brancaster Beach in Norfolk - hands down the best beach I've been to in Britain. Lovely and unspoilt sandy beach complete with a shipwreck visible just off the coast.

How much satisfied are you with your life?

I am much more satisfied with my life than I am satisfied with my country right now.
A horrific hate crime against a Muslim family in London, Ontario yesterday was preceded by the discovery of almost 250 indigenous children’s bodies a few days prior.
I don’t recognize my country anymore. We all bleed the same colour blood and cry the same colour tears.
Smarten up Canada. ☹️

I understand the excitement. I'm excited too. London is a big place so whereabouts roughly are you based and is it a pub you want to watch the football match in yeah?

I’m not going to say exactly where I live because I believe that’s dangerous 😅 but I’m really close to central London and yeah probably, just so we can all spend a good time together while I get too excited 😂

Depends how long they've got! I'm from the South East of England and I've spent a long time in Wales, so they're the places I know best, but the UK is a massively varied place and there is so much of it that I haven't been anywhere near. It's really strange when you travel to compete or with work, because you can go somewhere and never see or. So I don't know how many times I've been to Scotland - I'm literally half Scottish - but I've never BEEN to Scotland, yknow?
So with that in mind, and from my patch!
- Take a while to do the museums in London. I know that a lot of people thing museums are bleh, but the British Museum is insanely something else. I love it every single time. The Science Museum has a billion and one things to prod and explore, the National History Museum is so much fun. There's the V&A as well - It will take time, but do them alllll. I don't know what others would say, but I wouldn't bother with the Tower and Madame Tussauds and whatever.
- Have an afternoon tea. Doesn't have to be London, but it's worth doing it properly for the full experience. So go to a really nice hotel where they do refills of everything. Let them eat cake in a delightful atmosphere.
- The British seaside is an experience all in itself. The coastline is ridiculous - we don't do wide, sweeping beaches but we do fossils and cliffs and drama. Go to Dorset for the Jurassic Coast and go fossil hunting.
- We have So. Many. Castles. You've gotta go to one. Pretend to be royalty, you're literally walking in their footsteps.
- The UK has an awesome pub culture. Drop by a pub in the evening for a catch up with the locals and a pint (or a nice glass of wine, if you're me.)
- Go for walks. All the mountains are friendly and climbable, so climb them.
- Hay on Wye is one of my personal favourites and I'm there every month - it's an entire town of books, the river is the best for canoeing and there is a gorgeous tapas bar.
So yes, you should essentially do EVERYTHING in the UK.

This is tough as the country is so different and it depends on what you like doing. Scotland is a wonderful place to visit and I would recommend Edinburgh as there is a lot to see there. Wales is beautiful, especially North Wales. If you like castles, there are plenty to visit there. I would recommend the capital city Cardiff too. There are so many brilliant places to visit in England. From the beaches in Cornwall, the rivers in Norfolk, the Yorkshire Dales are beautiful and the Great District is definitely a place to see. If you like rides and theme parks then definitely go to Alton Towers. Blackpool Pleasure Beach is iconic. We have some of the oldest and most magnificent of churches and cathedrals to see. If you are a Harry Potter fan then you should go to Warner Bros studios to see where it was filmed. We have some fantastic cities too, not just London. Manchester, Liverpool, Bath, Birmingham etc. There is a lot to see here! 😊

Have you ever been to an art museum? If so, what was your favorite piece?

sirenic’s Profile Photo• . ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞AͨNͧGͭEͤL
I have, many a time! I’ve never had one favourite piece of artwork, but I do have a favourite art museum! The Tate Britain is by far my happy place. You know when some places just have a really positive, chilled and relaxed feel to the place? The Tate is like that for me. Perhaps because it doesn’t attract tonnes of visitors compared to some of the more well known art museums in London, but I also love the art pieces there too. A lot of them are beautiful landscapes and regal portraits, both of which I find really inspiring to see - the craftsmanship from days of old will forever be something to aspire to. I could rave on for days, but if I had to pick a favourite painting, it would probably be one by Van Gogh :)

What's your favorite way to travel? Why? What's the longest stretch you've travelledsaid way? 🚘🚄🚲🛳🛩

TobbeAsks’s Profile Photoᛏᛟᛒᛒᚨ
Trains. The longest train journey I did was London to Tarragona, with stops in Paris and Barcelona.
I walk everywhere I go. Thanks to the lockdown I haven't left the neighborhood in a year and a half.
My favorite way is by bicycle, but it isn't always practical. Sometimes oceans get in the way. I think my least favorite thing is navigating around other people in the airport. Security itself doesn't bother me too much, I generally am able to pack light and I can get my shit organized very quickly. I hate it when other people are slow going through security or haven't prepared for it at all. I understand if you're doing something new for the first time, but there are signs and you can usually watch the people ahead of you for clues. There's also a lot of rudeness that comes out of people at the airport, especially when people are forced to change plans due to a missed connecting flight or bad weather or something. I hate seeing people take it out on the airline workers, who clearly can't just magic them onto a plane. My favorite part is getting to the hotel. There's something about the feeling that no one in the building knows me but they are all there specifically to have a place for me to sleep. Sometimes walking into the lobby makes me feel fancy too, especially if it's for work and I've got my black roll-aboard and a suit on. Danny Ocean over here.
