What are your hobbies?

novenaculebra’s Profile PhotoSigrid
I play Bridge, the card game, twice a week, table tennis once a week, and I go to the cinema a couple of times a month. I also like cycling around my local area, where there are a lot of green spaces, and looking after my garden. I frequently travel into central London to go to museums, galleries, concerts (classical and rock), the theatre, and free science lectures when I can find them.
I do computer programming as a job, from home, but sometimes I do that for fun too, and a bit of electronics too. I also play a bit of music (piano, drums, guitar, synthesizers), but I'm not very good.

What are 5 (or 3 if you can't think of 5) interesting things about you?

~ I’m an artist, and have a bachelors and masters degree in the arts 🎨
~ I love being immersed in a story, whether they be historical and based on folklore, to fairytales and mythology from around the world.
~ Photography is one of my favourite hobbies, and one of my favourite pastimes is going to museums and galleries 🖼️

You get a job as a night watchman at a big museum which has a bit of everything. You quickly realize everything comes to life at night, just like in "Night at the museum". Which exhibits would you vibe with the most? Which would you stay away from? 🗿💂🦖

Wow, what a cool job! haha
Well, where I live there are more historical museums that talk about colonization and indigenous peoples. But getting out of context a little, I like photography exhibitions and planetariums, it's a shame they don't have any in my city!
I think I would stay away from the ones about art, because I don't know anything about the subject! haha 😅

Your current life goals?

sajawalhussain636’s Profile PhotoSajawal✨
My kids are single adults with good jobs so now I have more free time for myself. 🤷‍♀️ Question is 👉 What with it? 😅 Sooo...
1. Visiting some places with nice historical museums and castles either here or in abroad, 🤩 (Vienna in the end of September 😁)
👉 Reading good books - lately I have found detectives from R. Galbraith (btw the Rowling pseudonym) very good and they made a movie serie from them C.B. Strike 👍
👉 To buy little cottage at the lake with little garden 😃
👉 To have some cute pet 😸
👉 To live and to be on Ask.fm till my 90!😜😂

Umm. I'd suggest for people to put their phones down and go on a hike, go chill by a lake, have fun at the beach, go on natural trails. Enjoy nature. Have picnics at parks, in forests, it doesn't matter.
I would go if I could. I'm so sick of being at home and having limited mobility at this moment. But soon enough I'll be able to enjoy my walks again. I want to travel, hop in the car and go to another country. Look at the architecture, enjoy different foods. Go to museums.

- Studied korean language and literature, graduated 3 years ago. Worked at a huge news firm for a year, but hated it, so she free-lanced for a bit
- published her first book a year ago. Recently published her second book and it's a huge success, making waves all across South Korea.
- All her books are about questioning and challenging conformist societies where individualism is frowned upon and usually disregarded as an act of rebellion, in one form or another.
- is an advocate/activist, especially for women's issues, lgbtq+ rights and against toxic masculinity.
- an art lover, loves to visit museums. Has a weird obsession with the painting 'wanderer above the sea of fog'.
- rumour has it she recently met her high school sweetheart, Baekhyun, again and they are now slowly but surely rekindling their love.

What to do for 6 hours in London?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
Walk from Westminster through the parks to Exhibition Street, Kensington. Which is slightly less fun than it sounds (it’s named after the Great Exhibition of 1851) but still a lot of fun as its home to lots of museums, my favourite being the Victoria & Albert Museum, though there are at least eight others!
I have other things I like to do, but they’d probably take longer.

If you make art of any kind: Who/what do you draw inspiration from for the things you create? Was there something/someone specific that inspired you to get into the kinds of art you do now? ✍🏻🎨🖼️

anonamouse89887’s Profile Photoanonamouse
Inspiration for me comes from everywhere really, but particularly from nature - it’s incredibly grounding and helps me feel in a more creative state, as well as topics such as architecture, history, literature, mythology and folklore, etc. Anything involving fantasy or storytelling is immensely inspiring, and is definitely the main backbone of my art!
In terms of people, I think I’ve always been interested in art, even as a very young child. My mum has always encouraged me and took me to museums and galleries as a child, so that definitely helped in terms of exposure to all kinds of art and history! ✨

Does anyone know of any good places to go to in Manchester/Liverpool? Activities, restaurants, bars, museums etc? X

Art museum on Mosley street is nice, The John Rylands Research Institute and Library is also good, The Whitworth, Mayfield Park is a small park but good to just chill for a bit, maybe to kill some time, Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens is amazing too 👍✨

Go to bed somewhere around 21:30-22:30.
But I also like to go to museums, I like to just sit and read a book. I like making jigsaw puzzles, I like watching nature, hiking, card games and more lol. 😊

When you've recieved an entrance wristband for like a theme park, concert etc., how long do you generally keep it on afterwards? Are there any which you have saved? 🎟️

What were some of your best moments of 2023?🎆

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
I'd say some of the best things that happened in 2023 is I did dbt which helped me learn how to manage certain situations and a change of outlook.
Going to Wildwood festival again after a couple years, was really lovely. I ended up meeting some nice people that I ended up friends with. Plus for the majority of the day I was with my mum and it's nice doing fun bonding stuff with her. I challenged myself to stay on my own for the rest of the day, and be at the festival solo, which was a big deal for me. As I get socially anxious at times. But the night went amazing and I got on well with so many people. It helped open my eyes to limitations I'd given myself over the years and how I was capable of more than I gave myself credit for.
So as the year went on I decided to do more stuff where I'd go out and explore, I made more of an effort to see the friends I have. Went to Thorpe Park, went to some parties, museums, cat cafes, conventions etc.
Then mid year went on two longer stays in London, where I explored, and also spent quality time with friends. I ended up meeting new people that I'm still in touch with, they're all wonderful. Did some super fun stuff whilst there!
Then I challenged myself to go to some meet up events locally, which always terrified me, but I wanted to do it, as its a good way to meet people. I managed to go to about 5ish in the end, which I'm proud of!
I've done so much more this year too. And although there were moments that weren't so great, and the end of the year lost momentum a bit. I'm excited to see what I can do next year. This year I really wanted to make sure that at the end, I could look back and have heaps of memories to fondly think of. Compared to the previous year, when I was in a never ending deep depression, illness and was in hospital, basically miserable. I didn't want another year to be wasted to nothingness, and I can say I achieved this goal well and truly. 😊😊

What was the last trip you planned? (Speaking about travelling) 😄 🏝 Where did you go, what did you see? Perhaps post a photo you've taken. 🌍

The last trip I went to was to the Netherlands! In two weeks time it's been exactly a year since then. I mainly went there to spend some time with a few faraway friends. Together we explored Amsterdam, while there we went to various museums and ate good food. We went to Efteling, which is a big theme park based on various famous fairytales. I also went exploring Utrecht and Kasteel De Haar. The week I spent there was a lot of fun! 🇳🇱💙

Are you a city person or a country person?

When I was a kid I would have said city. But as I get older I'm leaning more towards country. Beautiful outdoors, nature, lakes, mountains, fields are all so beautiful to me. And peaceful too. I feel I can heal more and feel more in tune in those environments.
Cities are very chaotic, noisy, packed, bustling, can feel very isolating at times. It does have a lot of good qualities, like the fact there's so much to do, activity wise. You can do lots of fun things, see lots of museums, galleries, do classes etc. So I love cities for that, but not so much to live in. More for breaks away, or day visits. Not for long term living.

That’s hard to say!! Most cathedrals I’ve visited are absolutely stunning, and I remember being especially taken with Rouen cathedral. Even the museums in London are very striking, and the Natural History Museum comes to mind. The craftsmanship of the intricate sculptures encased in the structure of the building is amazing; it’s such attention to detail. Plus it’s very gothic which is always a win, haha!

How'd you describe your "aesthetic"? 👠🛋🖼️

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
Cozy and comfortable, generally spoken. 🐑 I also prefer certain moods in terms of pictures, clothing and activities, depending on the specific season. For this time of year I really like the 'Dark Academia' vibe that could best be described as this mysterious, academic feature that goes along with old buildings (castles, libraries, museums), earthy tones, dandy/aristocratic clothing and romanticising studying. Kind of helps me to survive uni this semester, haha. The enterior of my campus also fits the whole vibe. I also like the whimsical forest/fairy/glowing mushrooms aesthetic around autumn 🍄🍁 or the cotttagecore vibe in summer. 🌻🦋

Yes, I'm going to Amsterdam with my boyfriend. I can't wait! We're going in March because it was cheaper, but we already have a ton of stuff planned. We'll be going to the Anne Frank House, different museums, the zoo, bars and restaurants, something called A'dam Lookout, a canal cruise and we'll be visiting the red light district. It's gonna be so fun! 🇳🇱

Would you rather live in the country or the city, and why?

in the city. I can't really explain it. I just love that there's always something going on in a big city. I love the ambiance. and I love watching city skylines at night. my ex boyfriend used to live in downtown Toronto and his apartment had such a beautiful view at night.
Moved from city to country 2 years ago and I'll never go back. No traffic, less ppl so stores are never busy. Stars and wildlife instead of noise and pollution
I grew up in the countryside; most of my childhood memories revolve around climbing up trees, getting lost in the mountain side, stealing my dad's car to speed down dirt roads and having no swimming skills whatsoever. I'm in my mid twenties now; I have been living in my country's capital for half a decade; I adapted to the city life quite easily. I am however faced with deciding whether to settle in this city or move back to the countryside. The city offers every needed service, proximity to the sea and a variety of personalities to explore and befriend. But knowing and remembering the countryside (despite its lack of commodities), it offers a level of serenity I could not find elsewhere anywhere else. But, on a day-to-day basis, more of my practical needs are satisfied in an urban environment. I have more greater variety of employers, food sources, and housing choices. I have more reliable utilities and communication. I have a shorter commute to work, school, errands, family, friends, library, post office, museums, entertainment venues, etc. I have better and faster access to emergency services (police, fire, hospitals). Literally everything I need is available, closer and easier, in an urban area. Overtime, if and when you have kids, when you age and need more medical attention and services, there is more available in an urban area.
I've since settled in the suburbs after meetingy wife. Im not sure your familiarity with suburbs but they are essentially town surrounding city with easy public transport access to the city yet just a short drive to the country side. I love being so close to both, and because of that I wouldn't change where I live, but I frankly hate the actual suburbs. Every house in every neighborhood looks the same, and the roads are packed like city roads but the scenery is nothing but Walmarts and Pep Boys. That last paragraph was probably more American centric, but if you have the option to rent and it is easier to do in the city, I would recommend renting and living the city life for a few years. At some point you will either decide to stick with it or settle in the country.
Country for sure. But somewhere near a large city for swifter access to hospitals and similar in case of an emergency. After having lived in both environments I've found I hate traffic, I'm not fond of having too many neighbors, and I like having acreage to grow a large garden and work on my other outdoor projects.

What do you find stupid?🦖

XxHeyRaveNnxX’s Profile PhotoRohma
I mean I like going to museums and my fav thing to do, is to ask a lot of questions to my own self, on how they would’ve made certain things, all these years back and ESPECIALLY how they join bone after bone, to make the whole skeleton without screwing it up. One of the museums in Karachi had a whole whale’s skeleton hung up on the roof of third floor, a whooping 15 years back and till date, I ask myself how they got it fixed up there. 🥲
Anybody who thinks any of these curious thoughts are “stupid” will never be welcomed on a museum date with me. 🙂

What do you think should be done about all these shootings?

First of all, we can stop pretending that people who commit such horrible acts aren't deeply disturbed. A sane / rational person would never do something so heinous. Secondly, we need to implement stronger security measures. If we can take such steps to protect banks, courthouses, government buildings, museums, etc., we can certainly do as much *and more* to protect children. Thirdly, we need to stop vilifying and blaming firearms. They can be used to protect lives too and in the recent incident, it was an armed law enforcement officer who was able to neutralize the perpetrator, probably saving the lives of others who might have been shot. As previously mentioned, my city has Safety Agents in every school and we do not have such incidents. Lastly, we must encourage responsible citizens to protect themselves and their communities. This can be done with periodic training, certification and other proven methods. The problem isn't difficult to solve but unfortunately, there is no willingness to take corrective steps because the primary objective has always been to disarm the population and leave us weak and vulnerable. Anyone who does not recognize such a blatantly obvious agenda is incomprehensibly ignorant.

Do you like museums? If yes do you have a favourite? What is it?

LouiseDooley’s Profile PhotoOrion the Huntress
I've been going to the Science Museum in London ever since I was about 6 years old, and it was part of the reason why I chose to relocate to London to go to university - both my decision to study science (Physics) and because of the access to that museum and others. I still go in there regularly, most times that I travel into Central London.
I also love the Natural History Museum, the Victoria & Albert, the British museum, and all the galleries - Tate (Britain & Modern), National & Portrait galleries, Saatchi, Wallace collection and others. There are so many great museums in London.

People who don’t like to travel, why is that?

There's some cool architecture and landscapes to see, but looking at cool old things isn't really very exciting to me, and I'm from the USA where we have every type of climate and geography, so there's not much gained by flying 9 hours to see a different mountain. I have to travel extensively for work, and before I had money I used to dream of being able to travel one day, but when I actually started doing it, I felt extremely underwhelmed. It's not that I don't like it, I'm just a little spoiled. I live near a major city, and my state is one of the biggest, so I have world-class museums, restaurants, and other attractions about 40 minutes away. I also like living/sleeping at home the best. Makes it hard to justify taking a trip to most places in the US, and places outside the US can be expensive and/or swarming with covid.
Sounds like you need a travel agent! Good travel agents today can do all the planning for you (flights, hotels, transfers, event tickets, etc.), and don't charge any fees since they get paid by the suppliers (i.e. the resorts or whatever that you book with). Most are hom online only so you don't need to go to them in person. Honestly there's really no reason not to book with travel agent these days, especially with all the insanity of Covid protocols, testing, etc. And they often have access to better deals (or extra perks) than you can find online, or can at least get the same pricing. Feel free to pm me for a recommendation (but full disclosure, it's my wife lol).
I personally LOVE to travel! But since having a family, I noticed that it’s way more work for me to take my family (with all their food allergies) away from home, where I know I can keep them safe and fed. The cost-benefit analysis has to come out in favor of seeing something special to take the risks.
I used to LOVE traveling but when I hit my early 40's I started getting super sick to my stomach every time I would travel. Add to that the fact that plane travel is horrible now it really discourages me. I still do it, though, just not often because I have to work myself up to it. I can only get by if I barely eat while traveling.
My SO is someone who just never felt the need to. It's not that he actively dislikes to travel, it's just that he doesn't have that strong I MUST HAVE SEEN X OR Y BEFORE I DIE feeling a lot of people have. I do like to travel, and he enjoys himself when he comes along, but he would've been just as happy had he not had those experiences, whereas I would've definitely felt I was missing out on something. People like to shit on people with no desire to travel (I used to) but honestly, if you'd ask me who is generally more happy or satisfied with life, him or me, it's him.
I get anxious when trying to navigate an unfamiliar place, and I don't like asking for help. That doesn't stop me from looking at maps obsessively and fantasizing about what life is like in other places, though.

Do you like travelling?

I am a tireless traveler. Travel makes me feel good, gives me energy, and makes me happy.
I was just in ayyuthaya (ancient city near Bangkok) I only had a rough idea of how to get around and I rented a bicycle instead of a motorbike cus I was a cheapskate. It ended up being 100x harder to get around and 100x more confusing. But the fun was that I just went where I felt was right. At each of the ruins, I had lovely conversations with other travelers about their trips and the locals are always helpful when I was absolutely lost.
Travelling may bring people joy through many ways. You may like to see beautiful cities and their landmarks, or simply their architecture and general atmosphere. You may want to see how different nature is around the globe and how surprising it may be to see the great outdoors. You may want to engage in different activities, from paragliding to dance classes, from rafting to riding camels in the desert, from balloon trips to hiking on mountains... you may want to experience different cultures and foods, you may want to know the history of the world in museums, or you may just want spend a few days relaxing in a beach or in a secluded lodge... you may want to know people from other places or you may want to go to big parties in a place where nobody knows you. These are some of the reasons why people travel, and only a few of them are applicable to me, for instance. Maybe some of these will appeal to you, or maybe none at all. It's for those moments that you just can't experience by staying home. I just got back from a trip where I could watch the sun come up while overlooking cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde and nobody else was around. There was a buffalo munching on grass right outside my cabin one evening. I've had too many extraordinary experiences to count over the years and that's what keeps me getting out there to places I've never been to.
My main hobby was photography. I then got into travel, and found that they were very complementary hobbies. The thrill of enjoying and taking in some place new is a cool buzz, especially when you have a camera in your hand and want to capture the moment to help relive it later on.
It's really hard to explain to be honest, it's just a feeling of exhilaration and excitement I get when I get to see new places and exploring an unknown (to me) area. It's a kind of passion which I don't really experience when doing anything else. The world we live in is so beautiful and there's so many amazing things to see, and I just enjoy seeing them :) whether it be interesting sights, cities, nature, or just people. At the end of the day we only have so much time on this Earth, I figure I may as well try and see as many interesting places as possible!
