I'm not doing this for attention, I'm doing this because today was the IWK Radiothon and I would like to raise awareness by spreading my recent story.

Around mid December I started feeling a pinch in the back of my right leg. And then it started getting worse, and worse, and worse until one day I almost passed out from the pain from just simply sitting in French class. I called my mom and she took me to the emergency room. So, after waiting 7 hours, we saw a doctor and she said I pulled my hamstring and that I babied it for too long and caused a secondary muscle contraction, and that physiotherapy would fix it.

So when we got to the physiotherapist he said after trying one test that he would not touch and and to take me back because he disagreed that it was a torn hamstring. So we went to the family physician and she sent us to the hospital for an ultra sound on my leg. The hospital made a mistake and gave me an X-ray, which turned out to be better in the end, though we did not know that at the time.

They saw a growth on my femur, and sent me for an MRI, but I had to keep my leg straight and the pain was just too unbearable. They tried again the next day with me on a bunch of painkillers, and they still couldn't do it. So then they sent me in for a CT scan, and though it was still very painful, it was quicker and I could hold it for the amount of time they needed.

Then, the next day, were at the IWK. They ran a bunch of tests, tried another MRI, because they needed a clearer picture, but I just couldn't. So the next day they give me a full sidation, and the MRI gets complete. That was at 8:30 am.
at 11:00 am the Doctor comes and tells us that I have bone cancer and that they have a whole team ready for me.

And then I go in for the (planned) biopsy five minutes later, and during the biopsy they realized that I did not in fact have cancer. I had an ostiocondroma, which is when your growth plate grows wrong, and we were told that they were not that uncommon. Normally they grow smooth and people go through life without even knowing they have them.

But, mine grew all spikey out the back of my right femur, and tore a bunch of muscletissueand sliced an artery in my leg causing a huge hematoma. they got it all out and I'm on the road to recovery, but I would like to share this and raise awareness and ask that you please donate to the IWK as they have helped me and so many others. thank you for reading
