When in my tree planting volunteering
http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/tagged/scotland
We were planting native trees and had to remove Sitka spruce. They had been cut down by commercial loggers with a chainsaw, but the loggers hadn’t gone to the most remote part of the field that their tractor couldn’t reach.
So we walked there and sawed and pulled out the sitka because otherwise they’d suffocate native trees. The things are determined to live, though! It took so much work to pull them out and I couldn’t help thinking it wasn’t their fault that some humans put them there and some other humans took them out, but go they must.

How would you describe your dream garden? What features would it have? 🌹🌿🦋

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
Ohhh I’m literally just designing our new garden now! So I’m a big fan of informal planting but with a couple of architectural elements. I’ve always grown up with gardens that fit in seamlessly with their surroundings - using the local stone in the rockeries, using variants of native plants to make it all look like it’s been there for eons. I would go for year round interest - starting with snowdrops as soon as the snow clears, into the brilliant yellows and ambers of the daffodils and the bright purple splashes of crocus. I’d have hellebores in the borders, surrounded by impending me nots and violets. Hyacinths would scent the beds as you walk past, with daphnes and viburnum scenting the air higher up. Summer comes and the roses are everywhere, a patchwork of colour. They’ll last until October, resilient against British weather.
I have SO MUCH to do 🥹🥹

Katherine returned the kiss, mirroring his passion. A soft muffled whimper once the kiss ended. She didn’t have time to even recover from that kiss before she was flipped around, her back flush with her torso while facing the wall. She released a soft moan of his name as soon as his kisses were planting on her neck, reflexively she leaned her head back against his shoulder, furthering his access, she moved her hips back against his, grinding was her only form of control in the position but again, not even that lasted and after the few words he voiced, the brunette was left touchless and frustrated.
She turned to face him, her expression reflecting just how unamused she was at the entire situation; his latest display of jealousy and dominance had left the doppelganger wanting him, badly and the biggest problem was that he knew it.
breathing heavily as she starred at him, her eyes glimmered with a mixture of lust and frustration. She ran a hand through her curls, brushing them away from her face, it wasn’t rejection but rather Damon teasing her, she reasoned. “something tells me it’s a little too late for that.” Katherine provoked, granting Damon no time to respond, her lips were on his in a nanosecond and her hands roaming his chest and shoulders from underneath the shirt. “we’re probably the worst rescue squad in history.” Katerina mumbled into the kiss, smiling at just how much truth that statement held.
She dipped her face into his neck, getting carried away rather quickly once her lust took over, lips scattering kisses all the way to his collar bone before she suddenly stepped back, chest raising and falling with suppressed desire; the voice of reason had seeming punctured throw the thick veil of desire and Katherine felt the need for a last warning. “if we don’t leave now, Damon. I assure you we wont until the morning.” Katherine informed, unsure herself if her words were meant to be a threat or a promise. Images from last night danced in her line of vision, causing her to smacked herself mentally, realizing just what she might lose with those words, or most likely just delay, but she knew that if they continued the only thing they would be finding is another bed while Stefan’s fangs deep in victims.

Katherine was almost disappointed that she got no reaction to her latest method of provocation but sensing his annoyance was victory enough and she took it with a devilish smirk.
Damon was soon reaching for her hand and consequently agreeing to act his part in their little play.
Holding hands, fingers intertwined, Katherine couldn't help but think how little she minded if this was more than a cover. Her gaze lingered on their hands until Damon spoke, addressing the receptionist. Hearing him actually use her ex lover's name was hilarious to hear and she could barely suppress a chuckle; getting on Damon's last nerve had became a hobby of hers ever since her return, activated his jealousy was another one so combining the two was naturally entertaining. She couldn't help think about whether Damon wondered about her and Mason, about how truthfulness of her feelings towards him.
Thoughts were interrupted when thewoman at the desk quickly gave them a key with no further questions, wishing them a happy stay and a great honeymoon to which she received an out of character cheerfulthanks from Katherine.
On the elevator ride with some strangers, Katherine wrapped his arm around her shoulder before raising his hand to her lips, softly planting soft kissed to his knuckles; maybe she did it to continue the show, maybe just to toy with him further or maybe it felt natural,to her it didn't matter as long as he didn't know the reason.
Arriving to the room, she slipped her hand out of Damon's, closing the door behind. "There's a hospital near by, I'll go pick us up a few bloodbags. We need to lay low while we're here, we already left a body behind. That can't happen again." Katherine warned, reminding him of their little hunt and accidently reminding herself of all that happened after it.
"I got us here. Told you exactly where they'd be but it's you who needs to do the saving. I'm already too close to Klaus and getting caught again isn't exactlyon my agenda."

Remember I told you a month ago or something about planting some trees that I thought died? Well, apparently they didn't. They're starting to grow leaves. Very late, like unusual late and unusually slow! But they're growing!! It just took them awhile. I'm actually happy, thought I'd share with you!

Yay :D
I didn't think they would be dead! Trees can be very slow at times, especially if the weather has been flip flopping around a lot! But I'm happy they are growing their leaves again :3

At the beginning of March I decided to plant some trees in my backyard, but only 2 out of 10 seem to grow leaves. The rest haven't changed since then. Do you think they didn't survive? Now I'm sad. Did I plant them too early? We had a very cold march, tbh.

Normally when you get them, there is a guideline ticket attached to the tree that will tell you the best planting time and method! :)
Currently with how the weather is going, the trees may be late developing! There's a number of trees near me without leaves currently!
They may be too close together? That can lead to a stifled development as well.
If you have a penknife, you could take a sliver of the bark off and check the condition of the tree that way? :)

🌳 🌲 I’ve planted them vicariously, e.g. 100 for the Woodland Trust, and I’ve been part of supporting a student rewilding/reforesting project in the Scottish Borders (I forget the name of the organisation) and I made a site visit, though didn’t physically plant a tree.
🐏🐑 (Actually while I was there they were clearing the land of sheep, and there was one dead one I stumbled across in a real mess with its guts ripped out. There was also a hideous echoing baying screeching noise that tore out from a copse of trees on top of a hill.

Three or four years ago I planted around 50 trees in a nearby woodland as part of a large forest generation scheme which now has something like 180,000 new trees in it. I went back to see them in November and they're doing well. I recorded the GPS location of a group of them so that I can follow their progress.

Quel est votre plus grand rêve ?

This is going to sound ultra lame but I'm a 24 year old University graduate working a low-ish paid job and I just want to be able to own property. I'd love to not pay ridiculous rent to a landlord who doesn't need my money. I just can't afford a £10,000 deposit.
Man. I would farm all the produce and livestock to be sourced to local restaurants as well as supplying the bistro on my property that would be open from 11am-3pm. This farm would have working brew site, grape vineyards, and a distillary. Absolutely I would also do my part for the war efforts by planting acres of hemp.
I work internationally and the money is good but living in a foreign country long term eventually becomes a bummer. It's fun in your 20s, it's embarrassing for a middle aged man. Like I am 38 and have no my own home, jump through a million hoops to sort out the work visa paperwork; always looked at as a foreigner, because there is no racial diversity in Asia. Some day I'd like to own a home in a warm resort town. I want to set up my own paint studio and just paint for a living. I do not want to work my full-time job I do now untill I retire. I'm only 21 and I just graduated college, I'm working on setting up my studio and I really wish it gets some attention so I can paint full time in a few years.
To be a good animator with a successful animation-based YouTube channel with my original animations and it looks like it’ll take a while for me to do that because it’s hard being an animator on YouTube since I can’t post everyday and so far my stuff is only a few seconds long I can’t even monetize my channel yet because I only have 10 subscribers
Realistic dream: To have a place in the country close to my mom, get married with a decent man and have kids and lots of dogs. Unrealistic dream: have over 100 acres. Get married have kids. Move my mom and stepdad in their own place on the land. Also move both my brothers and their wives out there. My aunt can move out there too and any of my cousins who want to. Everyone has their own house spread out enough to have room to live our own lives. Have it in a wagon wheel shape though and in the middle a large log cabin esque dinning area. Inside of it a LONG dinning table and rooms for people to gather, and a room for kids to play in. Just a place for "Sunday dinners", birthdays, holidays, etc. That would be nice. Oh and a HUGE stocked lake on the property for fishing. And since it's unrealistic, throw in an income of $10,000 a month 🤣
I got in a awful accident and couldn’t use anything but my arms and hands at the time, and I discovered them when all I can do is play mobile games on my little iPad Air and watch YouTube on it. This is when I was 11. Now I’m almost 18 and I’ve gotten a tiny community on twitch and YouTube. But nothing big. But finally, my intention is to help the younger generations or anyone as a matter of fact, out of their darkest places and times where nothing else would cheer them up.

Are you an avid reader? If yes, who helped you develop your love of reading?

My parents, first by teaching me how, and then by planting me in the local YMCA's afterschool program, which was so unstructured and excruciatingly boring that I did nothing but read books or solve the problems in logic puzzles/recreational mathematics magazines until my mother came to pick me up.
I could say that my second-grade teacher helped, but she did everything she could to hinder me. She would physically wrench books out of my hands on the excuse that they weren't "age-appropriate", by which she meant they were of a higher reading level than was "normal" for 2nd grade. She had an obsession with pounding out any differences and making all her students average. She would have been an excellent teacher of the gamma children in Brave New World. However, if she'd allowed me to read, then I would have because her classes were boring too. Part of her obsession with making everyone the same involved handing out the same worksheets every day until every student could get it. And she handed out all the worksheets for the day in one go. So I'd finish them all in an hour, sometimes because I'd seen them so often that I had the answers memorized, and then try to read, which would infuriate her. I love to read! Mostly fantasy, like Harry Potter (all time favorite), Hunger Games, Divergent, Scythe, A good girls guide to murder, currently reading book 5 of The dark tower by Stephen King. As a teenager I read quite some Dutch thrillers and other Dutch books about drama, romance, etc. As a adult im more drawn to English books.

do you like gardening? 🌻🌷

I don’t know, really. I don’t mind helping out when my parents ask, but I wouldn’t go as far as saying I enjoy it! Probably because the jobs I do often entail pulling out weeds from between the concrete slabs of our patio, which is surprisingly strenuous work, as they’re so deep rooted!
Maybe it was more enjoyable jobs such as planting seeds etc, I’d like it a lot more! 🌸🌿

Met welke leeftijdsgroep werk je het liefst? Baby’s, peuters/kleuters, kinderen, tieners, jong volwassenen, volwassenen of ouderen? / With what age group do you prefer to work with? Babies, toddlers, children, teens, young adults, adults or elderly?

LunarHuntress’s Profile PhotoYentl (Only Dutch And English)
I don't care so long as they're not on their phone.
People in their 40s. I can keep up with people around my own age.
Adults from mid twenties and older. Old people are okay to work with too.
Nothing my age. They`re all miserable gits. 🤭
I love pre-k age! Right now I work in a classroom with mostly 5 year olds and 4s who are close to 5. I love how curious they are! Science, art, reading, playing games - they just love everything and soak it all up. I love doing a simple activity like planting seeds and tracking the growth and seeing how excited and involved they are. Many of them still love to sit on my lap to read a book or have me rub their backs at rest time. They can be sassy and test their boundaries but are still so innocent and little!
A year ago I would've said 3's without a second thought, but this year I've been working in a young 4's class and I absolutely love it! It may have to do with it being MY class and not having a coteacher, but they are so capable and curious. I love the way even though I never would I feel like I could leave them alone and they would be totally fine. My kids are the smartest!
Honestly, I get bored easily and I like having a variety of people to talk to all day. I work retail and, as far as customers go, I enjoy talking about Legos, my Little Ponies, TMNT, One Direction, Universities, baseball, basketball, the weather, arthritis, traffic, movies and almost anything except religion and politics. As far as coworkers are concerned, I hate laziness, cliquishness and raging senses of entitlement. There might have been trends of bad traits in different age groups, but I have made a high school student a shift manager and I have been given the Silent Treatment from a woman in her sixties. Smart, hardworking and nice people come in all ages.
I'm in my late twenties. I prefer working with people in the 25-60 age range. Too much younger, and they haven't figured out how to be professional adults yet. Too much older, and their priorities are generally skewed drastically toward retirement / they don't know how computers work. I've worked with kids though, and have also had awesome coworkers in their 70s and 80s, so I don't have a strong preference.
I support people with developmental disabilities in a group home setting. I personally enjoy supporting people who are in the 30-60 age range. Any younger than that and they seem to be more likely to have behavioural issues and haven't settled down yet, any older and they start getting more medically complicated.

AmericanLass’s Profile PhotoC.
Absolutely! The biggest con job in the world, was 9/11. It proves people are sheep, that can be convinced of anything. All 3 towers burned down....and no other had been burned down in history. And one was not hit by a plane. But they say burning debris drifted through the air, and caught it on fire....And then there was the fact, the fire chief and his crew of men, went up 2 stories under the fire. Radioed back to his crew " get me two fire hoses up here, and we will put this thing out." And seconds later, bombs starting going off....a guy on the next building video taped it...and it showed the flashes going off on each lower floor....bringing it down in one spot...just as controlled demolitions do. All 3 buildings....And couple that, with the fact an FBI agent turned in over 60 reports, that men were enrolled in a certain fly school, that did not want to learn how to land a plane just fly it...and finally his boss told him, if he handed in one more report, he would be fired....So they were planting the demolitions then....and get this....each day. for weeks, the government was shutting down areas at a time. taking in bomb sniffing dogs. to check for explosions....but they were planting them instead. Watch a picture of a controlled demolition ....And watch the towers go down...and you know your answer. And it was done to justify Bush invading Iraq...and to punish Hussein for flooding the market with oil, that caused a horrific drop in world wide oil prices....And Bush was an oil man...
And one more final proof....the buildings housed government workers....and all were given that day off...think about that..all of them were given that day off work.....
I have much more proof...but why even bother....every one believes their government would not do that.

I wish I had a picture of my Mom's garden. We lived in the country. And she got home about 3 in the afternoon. And she had a huge garden she would spend each evening in, weeding. planting, or picking. It was sort of a therapy to her, as well as providing healthy foods for the family. And in the hot Louisiana summer sunshine, she would sit in a chair at the end of the garden, in the shade of a large Sweet Gum tree. And drink her water. And her garden was beautiful and well taken care of. And to this day, each time I drive by the house, I look in the back, and see her in my thoughts, in her garden.

Describe your partner’s eye without saying its colour. If you aren’t in a relationship describe your eyes.

Forests and foliage. Leaves on the ground mid autumn. Sun peeking from leaves above your head. Clouds and grassy hills. Planting a tree in the soil of a fresh spring day. Grape juice. The gentle tones of nature in wintertime, still thriving, still existing despite the burdens of cold. Hazelnuts and leaves. Tones down colours of ivy and moss. Mushrooms in the woods. Ashen colours of old wood flooring in libraries.
- There are so many things I can compare their eyes to.- So many little magical things that make my heart skip a beat, that makes me fall more and more in love with their pretty hues. And oh how it varies on how light hits them too.
They’re beautiful.

my mind goes to the heart. body - a house. heart - a flower/plant. still I want to Know what you had in mind while answering this?

Dreams, my dear friend, are no different from house plants. We grow them in our hearts and see the saplings from the windows of our eyes. We nurture them, make efforts for them, pour our love, and then one day bad weather, strong winds damage them or the heart gets too cold because of constant heavy snowfall and they die. They just die. Sometimes, their death isn't so sudden, we see them trying to survive, fighting with the situations, trying hard to breathe, trying hard to survive but every beginning has an end. Nevertheless, keep the soil of your heart fertile, protect it from coldness of your soul and keep planting life inside you.

Do you believe that a carbon tax is necessary to help with climate change or do you think that another tax just lines politicians pockets ?

It's a tricky one because of course we want to get to the end goal of using more sustainable resources and we want to deter people from using things like carbon and the tax may be a necessary evil and lets face it it's big companies who will be the ones paying more tax and having to really question whether they could find resources that will cause less destruction to the environment, but the thing for me is we need to look at where this tax will be going will it be going into planting more trees and recovering plastic from oceans, will it go towards finding more sustainable energy and bettering our current crisis? That's the information I want to know.

I would just rather a small group of people together to clean the environment and get things out the water and pick up trash.
With animals. Just be careful with the wildlife. Again pick up things that are dangerous and hazardous to them.
Keep an eye out for the overpopulating, the endangered. Hunt safely. Hunt as needed and follow all the rules. Hunting can be good. A lot of people look at hunting as a bad thing. Yea? If you kill all of the species and over hunt, yes. But that's why they have Rangers in law enforcement in it. To keep track of people that are abusing the laws. Hunting can help the overpopulating species. The overpopulating of a species can be bad. It can make other species die out if there's too much of another, especially in one area.
Take down unnecessary buildings that are abandoned. Certain buildings. To give room for wildlife. Keep planting trees. Cut down rotten and bad trees.

Philosophy time. When you have an evil idea, a deviant idea. How do you know if that's the devil giving you that idea. Or that's actually yourself coming up with that idea.. How do we know when the devil is planting those ideas into us.. Or we are coming up with them because we are bad people.

بطتنا بطت بطتكم وبطتكم بطت بطتنا ?

The most frustrating and wrong thing in the academic world is that you have to have studied a topic for years before your ideas about it would be taken seriously, even if the ideas haven’t changed since before you began studying -do you think we regard experience toomuchthat it harms pure ingenuity?

“What you keep in your mind, whether negative or positive, will ultimately reap.” Positive thoughts are like planting seeds in the soil. These things did not become true overnight; they need to be patient, but one day they will become reality.🌼

I have read once that "happiness does not fall on you from heaven ... but you are planting it on earth". Since this moment I believe that making others happy is my mission of life. Pulling them out of their dismal or miserable state makes my heart dance as happy as branches of autumn trees swaying to the right and left. The smile I see on their faces is the fruit I have harvested. ❤

Are young people today worse than ever? I believe that there is probably some truth to the idea that young people are more impatient than they once were. Isn’t this obvious, though?

I don’t think young people in general are more impatient, or worse in any other respect, than in my day, even though I agree with some of the points about education and society that have been made by others. Not really. I mean kids only live as they're shown right? My generation has to admit we were probably a bit overprotective in as much as we had government and media screaming at us how 'unsafe and dangerous the world was !" At the time we were raising them. Then the explosion of the internet and all the mobile phone technology that kids embraced and we adults were 'fearful' of. And be in no doubt, it's kids these people market to, not adults ! That may have driven a wedge between child and parent. Then all the 'nonsense' in that world that seems to make kids either hard and uncaring or self-obsessed and worried ! Every generation tends to think their young people are getting worse and worse. During the 50s parents thought their kids were going to hell just for listening to rock n roll. During the 70s parents thought their kids were doomed to become drug addicts. Now during the 2000s parents think their kids are getting far too lost in technology. There’s always going to be some sort of complaint. I think they're too willing to sell themselves off to external systems, even systems of thought, for security, leading to an over-reliance on fact, emotion etc..Leaving them internally unbalanced. That could make them come across as impatient.. At least that's one reason why I dislike mixing around. Instant gratification is a big thing now. We have fast food restaurants, microwave ovens, order things online and get them within a day or two, credit cards to get things instead of working, saving up and waiting till we have the money, fast internet speeds compared to 15-20 years ago, can be driving around, etc....First world citizens are basically spoiled. Back when there were so many more family farms and people grew their own food they learned the meaning of patience after planting seeds and waiting for the plants to sprout, grow, bloom and bear fruit or veggies. The produce had to be picked, carried to the home, washed, and cut up etc to eat. Now all a person has to do it open a frozen packet of whatever and pop it into the microwave and heat it for a few minutes and Voila! They have a meal. In many ways yes. They have been too sheltered, too protected, too "bubble wrapped. Nobody fails now. Prizes are given for merely competing, not just for winning. Kids are over protected from everything. They don't get to learn that stupid decisions can lead to great pain by little things like falling off a bicycle and scraping yourself up. They have been raised in front of video screens so they have developed much shorter attention spans. The school systems have filled them with propaganda and taught them to puke it back, instead of doing real research and developing their own ideas.
