True or False: Happiness in life is always a matter of compromise. If this is true, what aspects of life are you willing to sacrifice or live without?
I reckon that’s true, yeah! A lot of learning to be happy, in my experience, includes learning to adapt and make the most of things when situations don’t pan out how you hoped they would. For me personally, I had to let go of my need for perfection and control.
When I was just entering adulthood, I'd get really hung up on what I wanted the rest of my life to look like, and I had a hard time accepting when things just weren't working out. I would cling for dear life onto this 'vision' of my ideal life even when it was clear that that ship had sailed, and all it did was leave me feeling unhappy and dissatisfied.
In the end, it was only through accepting my circumstances and learning to compromise, that I ended up building a much happier life for myself.
