As many other Spaniards, I learned English despite the education system, not because of it. I absorbed as much as I could from the school, which is pretty much a decent knowledge of the English grammar, an only because I was the bookworm type of kid. Most of my peers were perfectly able to sit through 8 years of English lessons and thousands of exercises without learning much. And, as it turns out, the passive voice isn't cool anymore, none of my teachers got the memo though. So, how did I learn? Mostly books (gotta read the latest Harry Potter book NOW), TV shows, and English language forums, as you can find much more people with much more interesting things to say. Spanish online forums used to be pretty shity, as nobody bothered to write more than one line and there was so few people. I also took advantage of some oportunities to travel to English speaking places for free (twice with scholarships and three times for work). I always tried to speak with as many people as possible in my visits, as oppossed to the ancestral Spanish custom of sticking with the pack of Spaniards and limiting English comunications to McFlurry purchases at McDonalds. At first, I learned mostly through books and video games (this was in the early 90s, so no internet yet). English classes in school started in fifth grade, but at that point I had already taught myself enough to occasionally spot mistakes the teachers made. My family moved to North America when I turned 13, and my English improved even further. During my time there my test scores in English were usually close to perfect, and I had no problems keeping up with the other students. I started having English dreams around that time, too. To this day, many of my dreams are entirely in English, even if they feature friends and family who don't really speak the language. When we returned three years later, my English was more or less at the level of a native speaker. My spoken English has probably gotten a bit rusty over the past decade, since I don't really use it much these days. Everything else is as good as ever, though, if not better. I can thank the internet for that, I guess. In school from grade 5 to 10 and then continued in high school (the equivalent) to grade 12. Up until that point my English was rather mediocre. But I continued to "learn" English by watching movies and shows in that language only with German subtitles and few years after that I switched to English subtitles - also (online) gaming and browsing websites in English language. Now ~7 years after finishing school my English is much better than it used to be and I consider it to be a language I am almost fluent in. It's still nothing compared to my native language in some or most cases though.

A "devil" didn't exist in Abrahamic religion until the middle ages. It's little more than fanfiction inspired by popular fiction authors Like Dante Alighieri, John Milton, and some letters by monks which circulated around 900 years after the Bible was written. In Jewish myth there is no antagonist. The Satan is an appointed angel sent by Yahweh to test the faith of believers. Not evil. Just an angel doing his job

The new testament btw has no first person accounts. The books of the new testament were written between 75 to 400 AD. None of the original apostles except maybe Paul, a Roman citizen, could read or write. As 99% of the world's population was illiterate. Though numbers were higher in Rome. Though modern day Palestine and Israel were not direct Roman territory they were protectorates that Rome propped up for it's middle Eastern conquests.

If you get a New Interlinear Bible you can easily see the Hebrew to English for old testament, the Greek to English for New testament. You can see in context translations by native speakers from the original text. Something not done well in previous versions as the Greek and Latin Scholars who translated the mess of letters that would become Abrahamic doctrine probably never met a native speaker. They'd be a state scholars who learned from other state scholars

About a year once I came to US at 15 yo. Before that I studied it in school, took private English courses, and additional after-school courses. When I came to US I could communicate on a basic level but the expressions I used were not in tune with how people talked. Initially the biggest issue was I couldn't understand people, even on TV. I started reading books and watching sitcoms and because I wanted to follow what the characters were saying it kind of forced me to start understanding it. Once I went to high school the process accelerated even faster.
School. One thing I’ve learnt through my experience is that Russian schools teach students grammar, but really when it comes to using the language - here is a huge black hole. All the people who I contacted with on a topic of learning English, universally say that they are “afraid” to speak in a wrong manner, hence why they tend to not to speak at all. My school gladly had a very passionate director so he set up a lot of english classes based on purely speaking, watching, discussing, arguing and debating. That fact really elevates your level of using the language and overall confidence.
According to some I am still not fluent. Fluency is rather subjective measure. Reading helped the vocabulary, watching TV and movies helped comprehension and pronunciation. Google dictionary with vocalization help is great.
I've been always believing that getting myself sunk in a world full of native speaker could get me become fluent in speaking the language as an adult learner until I read your comment. So in your opinion, it isnt necessary like that? Because I've never experienced it, I've got myself outa my own country but am not living in a native English speaking country, so I couldnt tell. I can see how my English improved by engaging constantly in listening, thinking and speaking English, but am nowhere near the fluent point. Im not a language talent as well. So you dont think submerging in a native speaking world could be significant help, isnt it right?
Living in an English speaking country mainly helps with preserving the desire of learning English since you have no other option but to keep striving to learn the language if you want to do well in general. It keeps you committed and determined. It builds a long term consistency which is very important if you want to become fluent. However, it hasn't helped me a lot in practical terms. Especially when you are nowhere near the level of a native speaker, they won't give you the opportunity to practice English with them since they lose interest pretty quickly. If you don't go past that point where you feel confident conversing in English with them, they are really not much of a help.
Sure it can be done. I have seen it numerous times - even amongst those with little formal education. However it requires a level of commitment that many adults just are not prepared for.

The worst thing to become popularized in the last decade is the concept of extrovert and introvert. These things are not exclusive to each other and most people are not just one or the other. It's a spectrum that were pointed in and most importantly its a spectrum that can change due to a plorthea of circumstances.
Yip. I'm super introverted and love my alone time. But I'm also a massive party animal. I DJed at clubs/festivals for years as well. But I legit hate performing, especially in front of big crowds.
I always have fun with my friends from back home no matter what we’re doing. I also have fun with my brothers like we can talk and do random stuff (without alcohol) for hours and still have a good time. I’ve also realised that after COVID I’ve become much more family oriented compared to what I was before, not sure why. Yeahh, that makes sense. I feel like as I’m getting older, I’ve begun to love my ‘me time’. When I was in my first year at uni, I practically spent every single minute of everyday with friends. I only came to my room to sleep. I would NEVER do that now.
Even when I'm dancing I prefer to find a spot for myself so I'm not in a crowd. I'm usually the one on a speaker or something.
So I’m 24 and I loveee partying, clubbing, drinking, etc. When friends make plans to go partying, I’m always in. When I go for night outs, I genuinely have so much fun. You know when friends wanna leave the club early? I never do cuz I’m always wanting to stay till the end. However, I’m also an introvert. After a long day I legit fantasize about watching Netflix and chilling by myself in my PJs. So basically, I don’t really enjoy regular hangouts with my friends,as in going out to eat and stuff like that. If I’m doing something non party related, all I wanna do is leave so I can be alone doing my own thing. But while clubbing, I’m the opposite. Am I super weird for being an introvert that’s likes to party? It is absolutely ok. No one should feel forced to do something they don't want to do. There is a reason people go to clubs in a group so they can look out for each other. I think the biggest challenge for us as introverts is not how to avoid everything we don't like turning us into hermits. The challenge is to make sure we take the steps necessary to overcome these situations in a safe and fun way. Clubs too loud? Find a quieter public place. Dancing? Could that be just a insecurity? Find a way to dance home alone to build confidence. Approached by people.. Find a group with common interests that you can ease into. You are going to have to take baby steps to not only get over your trauma but to protect yourself from further problems. As a hermit myself I regret almost every day not taking a more proactive role in my life.

I am not taking any side but let me be a little veracious here.
Imran khan has played a very calculated gamble. There isn't any foreign conspiracy. He has been ousted through a constitutional process, the constitution, which stands above all. Indeed, he is a good speaker but that is not enough to run a whole country. His poor performance of the past 3 years is a glaring evidence of his incompetency. He has failed to deliever on his promises. He is power hungry just like others. He is that man who makes promises and when the time comes, he starts blaming others. He is the one who has started this toxic political culture, where this blame game is the only way left for him to build his narrative to attract audience and create a cult like followership. Similarly, he has successfully achieved his goal of overshadowing his poor performance through this foreign conspiracy thing. "The bigger tha lie, the more readily the people believe it to be true."
Secondly, It's not a game about selecting best options. As responsible citizens, we must criticize our leaders for their incompetencies. It is ridiculous to choose a lesser evil creature just in the name of not having a better option. It is our duty as good citizens to play our role by letting our leaders know about their shortcomings, so that they can correct their course.
In addition to this, we must remain open minded and let democracy prevail and should refrain from participating in toxic political debates. It is possible that the incumbent government may perform much better than the previous one and in the same manner, we should also remain open to the idea that may be IK will learn from his mistakes and will alleviate the woes of the common man in future. It is fundamental for us all to play a positive and progressive role rather than sticking to an extreme and polarized posture.
