What comforts you the most in life?

shinchaaann’s Profile PhotoTaaniiyaaa.
Standing near a tree. Seriously. Whenever something has gone wrong and I'm all at sea, I'll go to my nearest park and spend time with the trees. To think a tree is just a plant and it grew from a tiny seedling, with no help from anybody whatsoever, just makes me think you know what? If that the can cope with all that's thrown at at, then so can I. Everything is going to be okay....<

Have you ever had issues with silverfishes or anything similar in your home? What did / do you do about them? 😬

No, but we are living in area with parks, meadows and trees so during autumn some ants are moving to warmer houses around and yesterday i.e. during spring, such a big hornet was attracted by flowers on our balcony 😱😬

What would you do if you were alone and lost in the middle of the woods without food, water, a cell phone, a map, or a compass?

> food,
I can hunt, trap, fish, gather some edible plants / berries or anything that I may find. I've spent plenty of time outdoors and I'd know what to avoid. For personal reasons, animals would be my last resort.
> water,
Any body of water would suffice. I carry a portable filtration system is my truck, a basic survival kit, tools and some other odds and ends. Distilling water is relatively easy too. If no body of water is accessible, trees would be my option for water and syrup (maple is about 100 calories per ounce). Simply tap with a small tube (metal, pvc, etc.) and drain in a container. This takes time but I wouldn't have anything else to do and I could tap several while I'm waiting for help.
> a cell phone,
Smoke signals / flares / fire.
> a map, or a compass?
If I can see Polaris, the sunrise and sunset, etc., I can make a good determination on which direction I'm headed. Wild animals would present the greatest threat but I would be prepared for them too.

Are you scared of thunder and lighting ?

I love watching fireworks and lightning is God's fireworks 🎆 You'll find me (and my dad) outside with binoculars (away from trees🌴🌳🌲) watching the display. The clouds crashing, remind me of the fireworks report back.
Remember, I'm from the South, where 33⁰ 🌞 is normal, so we welcomed the cool rain 🌧
On Saturdays, we had our day of rest on the ranch. If we could, we would lay in a hammock under an old tin roof to read...reminded me of a crackling fire..so peaceful. Then we got to see the 🌈 rainbow.

"One shouldn't be too straightforward , go and see the Forest , straight trees are cut down , the crooked ones are left standing"

Remember I told you a month ago or something about planting some trees that I thought died? Well, apparently they didn't. They're starting to grow leaves. Very late, like unusual late and unusually slow! But they're growing!! It just took them awhile. I'm actually happy, thought I'd share with you!

Yay :D
I didn't think they would be dead! Trees can be very slow at times, especially if the weather has been flip flopping around a lot! But I'm happy they are growing their leaves again :3

Hi tita! Any advice for someone who’s been having way too many rainy days lately? Rejections after another, heartaches, and uncertainties. 😞

I just read this today: Still waters don't make great sailors. And I also know that the strongest trees grow in the windiest and stormiest places. I remember feeling like everything bad was happening to me and not knowing if I could take any more. Then I realized that if absolutely everything bad already happened, it can't possibly get worse and I even dated the fates to give me more because I was certain I could handle it. And you know what, I did. Nothing really fazed me much since. Same with you. You're building a strong trunk and becoming a skilled sailor. Soon you will know that you can weather any storm. I believe in you.

What is the most important thing to build a strong relationship

zobbi123456’s Profile PhotoZobbi
Many many things. True Love and strong relationships are not descended from heaven but you have to make them through consistent efforts of showing affection, trust, loyalty, and respect. People show love once in a Blue Moon and expect their partner to rely on that for months. It doesn't work this way, relationships need reassurance and consistent efforts again and again just like plants need water to nourish as trees💯

If you could invent your own world holiday once a year, to celebrate something in particular. What would your holiday be for? E.g. Stuffed animals day, plant-a-tree day.

At the beginning of March I decided to plant some trees in my backyard, but only 2 out of 10 seem to grow leaves. The rest haven't changed since then. Do you think they didn't survive? Now I'm sad. Did I plant them too early? We had a very cold march, tbh.

Normally when you get them, there is a guideline ticket attached to the tree that will tell you the best planting time and method! :)
Currently with how the weather is going, the trees may be late developing! There's a number of trees near me without leaves currently!
They may be too close together? That can lead to a stifled development as well.
If you have a penknife, you could take a sliver of the bark off and check the condition of the tree that way? :)

Say you got hungry when you had become a Kaiju, what'd you do? 🤔🍗

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
My first instinct would be to search for food in the wilderness! I would probably hunt for a forest with fruit trees, and eat those! Or I would go hunting for fish. I would avoid livestock and just farms in general because those belong to someone, and that "someone" probably wouldn't be too pleased if a kaiju came stomping along, ate all their cows or their potatoes or wheat or whatever, then left.

I read where humans now digest up to 40 lbs of plastic in a lifetime, from all the drinking water we now consume drinking bottle water. I think we will start seeing people revert back to glass, or paper cups (made from trees) and leaves less of a thumbprint on future generations, going forward.

I think if I had a medium-sized house I'd have some dog + maybe 2 cats. 🐶😺

Do you think the world is cruel

God, no. Have you been outside, recently? There are cherry trees everywhere, dude, and they're covered in blossom. The magnolia flowers are all out and they look like angel wings. There are birds yelling for you to wake up every single morning.
And then! Then you've got the friends who pick you up something from the shops just because they saw it and thought of you. The friends who share their snacks, who share their funny stories and their hugs and their warmth. You've got the boy who reminds you just a liiiitle bit of your collie (his eyes light up when he sees you and he comes bounding over, so it's kinda fair.)
And then, on top of that! You've got the random stranger who holds a door open for you, the person who stops and says that they like your coat. All of these little acts of kindness that amount to some seriously warm moments.
The world is fundamentally a beautiful place. There are some bad people and some tough moments, but it will give back the love that you give it. Not always straight away, some times are really long and dark. But what goes around comes around, I promise.

How a writer would describe you if you were a character in a book?

muqaddasmasood345’s Profile PhotoPistachio
Very quiet and shy, but knows what to say and when to say something confidently. Hides her insecurities and emotions, doesn't let anyone see the weaknesses. A great listener and understands people well, but also doesn't like them in general because they talk too much [a people pleaser who doesn't like people]. Has a few friends (2) who she rarely talks to (once a month), they understand her disappearing behavior. Loves animals but from a distance. Wants attention and love but refuses to communicate about it, even though she understands that nobody can telepathically know everything, this is real world and not a fantasy novel. Is empathetic and kind but can't really be of any help to people and that saddens her.
Loves trees, moon, Night Sky, sunrises and sunsets, could stare at them for forever. Loves curls and shoes, and tea and coffe and cookies and music and art, but doesn't like any of these things sometimes. Sometimes she wants to free fall from a tall building's rooftop. She makes art and writes journal just to ease her mind of intense thoughts. Basically a paradoxical soul who doesn't feel like belonging to earth or its people.

Which (do you think, or know) grows faster; Sitka Spruce or Leylandii (bi-generic: Cupressocyparis) ? - What do you think? - of the former, as a garden tree ! - insane ? (to annoy tree-hating neighbours!)

igotamatch’s Profile Photoigotamatch
🌲 I’m not familiar with those specifically, but if they become very big trees I’d be careful. My brother’s had tree roots causing subsidence under his house walls and destroying the kitchen floor. Sorting it out involved (and still involves) months of work and fannying about with the local council, insurance companies, and various contractors, and the upheaval for their home and three kids is huge.
🌳 I recommend something smaller but dazzling, like a cherry blossom tree. They still grow fairly large and quickly and in blossom season they look amazing. (May even blow a pink carpet over the neighbour’s lawn, if the wind direction’s right? 😉)

If you could create a new planet, what would you name it? What would it be like (terrain, temperature, lifeforms, etc)?

LadySpiritWolf’s Profile PhotoKatherine
Obviously I'd just name it Vex Alpha, because I'm vain like that.
It would be a very small planet, with mountainous terrain, cool weather, and fresh rivers, springs & lakes, formed from snow runoff. A few species of easily hunted/trapped, tasty animals...fur & fowl...don't need fish. Plenty of fertile soil to grow fruits & vegetables that fit the climate. Plenty of hardwood trees for building, and a bunch of futuristic, state of the art power tools, so the work isn't backbreaking.
I'd be pretty much set, with that.

Do you like Palm trees?

Yep :)
I like trees in general! I find it quite relaxing when there's a breeze and the trees are rustling their leaves :3
But seeing palm trees in tropical gardens and by the beach is just lovely to me! I can't really explain why lol

🌳 🌲 I’ve planted them vicariously, e.g. 100 for the Woodland Trust, and I’ve been part of supporting a student rewilding/reforesting project in the Scottish Borders (I forget the name of the organisation) and I made a site visit, though didn’t physically plant a tree.
🐏🐑 (Actually while I was there they were clearing the land of sheep, and there was one dead one I stumbled across in a real mess with its guts ripped out. There was also a hideous echoing baying screeching noise that tore out from a copse of trees on top of a hill.

Three or four years ago I planted around 50 trees in a nearby woodland as part of a large forest generation scheme which now has something like 180,000 new trees in it. I went back to see them in November and they're doing well. I recorded the GPS location of a group of them so that I can follow their progress.

Bald schon wieder April

April is the second month of spring. It is a month when the weather becomes better and warmer, the sun is shining more often than in winter. And it’s not snowing anymore. The weather in April is very nice, because you can go for a walk to the park and enjoy the beauty of waking up nature. Many trees are flourishing in this time, you can see many beautiful flowers and green plants in April.

Serious question: why would anyone who was born and raised in a very huge city, like a capital city, decide to move out to the country or somewhere isolated? Why would anyone ditch the multitude of shops, events, opportunities to live somewhere in the woods surrounded by trees?

I am from both worlds and it's just a different way of life. One is slow and the other is fast. I love the peace of the country but I'm spoiled to convince of the city.

Serious question: why would anyone who was born and raised in a very huge city, like a capital city, decide to move out to the country or somewhere isolated? Why would anyone ditch the multitude of shops, events, opportunities to live somewhere in the woods surrounded by trees?

Because we absolutely hate people. I still live in a big city, born and raised in them but I love the idea of not having to deal with people lmao.

Serious question: why would anyone who was born and raised in a very huge city, like a capital city, decide to move out to the country or somewhere isolated? Why would anyone ditch the multitude of shops, events, opportunities to live somewhere in the woods surrounded by trees?

I don’t know, but my goal is to definitely buy some land with a pond and build. Being in the middle of nowhere sounds amazing.

Serious question: why would anyone who was born and raised in a very huge city, like a capital city, decide to move out to the country or somewhere isolated? Why would anyone ditch the multitude of shops, events, opportunities to live somewhere in the woods surrounded by trees?

Because the city is suffocating, its dirty, overcrowded, often hostile, and also very expensive to live in. The country side is calmer, quieter, I can go for a wander by a lake, up a mountain, through a forest, be almost completely alone and feel at peace. The air is clean. People aren't getting done in left right and centre. It's all about perspective, and what you want from your life.

What’s your biggest fear?

Hawk81484’s Profile PhotoHawk
The trees cry out as they die, but you cannot hear them. I lie here. I listen to the pain of the forest and feel the ache of the bullet in my chest, nobody gets the pain that comes from the spiritual aspects instead of the chosen ones who don't hide behind the fake image of God. They don't remember what they did to get in a situation like this. Its like they were born with the gift.

What is a fun or interesting fact about your hometown?

The memories, the sunrise and sunset breeze & scenery, the friendly people, the cheerful environment, the flowers and smell, the foods and welcoming hand, the small stalls that sell ice blended & the traditional steam bun I like, the evening bicycle riding, the long rows of palm trees throughout the way to go back home...
Everything, honestly. It was just me who didn't experience everything wholeheartedly, cause I thought I always have time. Haih. Tgok dan sedih balik 😪.

DAE find thunder and lightning storms oddly comforting?

I found them very comfortable when I lived at a house with no trees. Now I'm out at the country with 100 or so trees that are tall enough to hit my house if they were to fall. Also my dogs freak the hell out. But other than that they're relaxing :) mostly the rain
They can be comforting, but at the same time they are awesome (as in they fill me with awe). I was in Yosemite once, and it started to storm right above me and my group. There was lightning striking everywhere around us, so we got in our car and drove back to camp. There were waterfalls of rain everywhere. There was an especially large one right where we were climbing less than an hour ago. Totally surreal and made me love nature's power.
I love storms. When I was young my dad and sister and I would sit out on the porch swing and just enjoy the rain and cool misty breeze (the porch was walled on three sides, so very rarely did it actually rain onto the porch). I do, in fact every night I sleep through one every night. I have an app on my Ipad which sounds like rain and thunder, so I can sleep and drown out the noise from outside since I live on a busy corner in Manhattan. I dont know what I'd do without it.
There's a big storm here in the Philippines right now. I usually love rainy days spent indoors, usually curled up with a book and a hamburger on my chest. But this time I'm mostly worried :( please send your well wishes to us tonight.
I love storms. It remembers me that this planet is alive, and most of the time it does not give a shit about us. If we didn't have houses and sewers and all this technology we would be on a very bad situation. However, we are the pinnacle of sentient life on this planet. We have achieved the ability to just relax and contemplate the wonder humankind is.
Yes. For some reason, I love knowing that it's hell outside but I'm perfectly safe inside. I'm not quite sure why.
Yes, unless I'm outside or trying to do something having to with electronics and the power goes out. I miss having a covered porch and being able to chill with a beer and grill food while it's storming.
Currently thundering and drizzling here, and can confirm... very soothing. It's the pitter-patter light taps that the rain droplets sound as they hit the surface of the roof/trees/road that really gets me.
I always wondered why that is. I love sleeping during the rain. Id probably sleep outside if it was screened in and there was a comfy bed there. But some people get super freaked out if it's thundering and stuff.

Sounds cliché but i've found the most uncomfortable dorms, dirty streets, empty houses, sheded trees, and crowded highways sometimes to be the most beautiful places when i was with the right people and the world seemed a whole lot uglier regardless of its beauty when i wasn't with the right people.

Spring sunrise or autumn sunset?

I'mma have to go with the autumn sunset. Because then the color of the fading orange sun can match the flame-colored trees surrounding it. Its like nature and color are in sync with one another.
