Have you ever had an ocean-side date?

Of course! I live in a coastal town, my boyfriend and I are always going on little seaside dates. There is this little Italian restaurant that we go to each year for our anniversary, as a tradition, it has these big windows and it overlooks the sea and it is just so beautiful...

Have you ever had an ocean-side date?

I had just gotten into graduate school and then got into a massive fight the same night with my parents. I spent the entire night crying and frustrated and feeling like they didn't care about this huge accomplishment of mine. So that weekend, my boyfriend said he was going to surprise me and took me to my favorite restaurant, and then we wandered around a book store until he picked out one of his favorite books for me to read (something I've been wanting to do for a while). It was just so sweet to know that he knew how horrible I felt a few nights prior and wanted to make sure that the entire day was about me and my accomplishment. I love him so much :)
I just met my long distance boyfriend of 4 years for the first time a few weeks ago. I took him to the state fair, but it started pouring before we could go on a ride. We ran underneath one of the roller coasters to see if it subsided, but it didn't. He saw I was getting sad so he ran to the nearest game and spent 10 bucks trying to win me a prize. He won. He saw how happy I was and the look on his face was just so amazing that I still can't get it out of my head. We ended up running to a tent and saw the worst cover band. We sang so loud and kept joking around. He apologized for it raining and I told him it was okay because I had the time of my life. It was the best date I've ever been on. We also ate Reese's funnel cake which helped.
We hadn’t really been dating long but he told me that he had a surprise for me, I was supposed to get dressed up and he would pick me up. That’s all the information I was given. We drove all the way into the city and he ended up taking me to a restaurant on the 72nd floor of the building. The entire restaurant is floor to ceiling windows looking over the city. Absolutely stunning. I had the most amazing dinner I have ever had. Next I was told that the date was not over, but we needed to go or we would be late. We drove for a long while and finally came to this historical house on a Lake where a Symphony Orchestra was playing, the concert was Disney favorites. I was completely swept off my feet. As someone who is a very avid Disney fan as well as someone that played violin for seven years this was the most thoughtful and romantic thing anyone had ever done for me. I had no idea what I was in for and was amazed that not only did he pay attention to my interests but was thoughtful enough to put together this evening for no reason other than he wanted to. We have been together almost a year and a half now and every single day I am thankful to have found him.
The most romantic date I've ever been on was on Valentines day last year. My boyfriend planned out the whole day - breakfast in bed, dinner, a movie, gifts, etc. But literally everything went wrong. He dropped the breakfast he had made on the floor, the movie we were going to see was sold out, and the gift he was going to get me I bought for myself like two days before.

How much active screen time do you usually have each day on your phone? What apps do you use the most? 📱 (You can most often check those things in your settings 😊)

TobbeAsks’s Profile Photoᛏᛟᛒᛒᚨ
You're asking the wrong person. My sister-in-law LIVES on Facebook. She talks to everyone and everything since she obtained a government phone. She tells everybody she's not working, the reason she got fired, what she thinks of her former boss, and other things they don/t need to know. She's in her early fifties and is wild about KISS. She used to sing late into the night with the windows open until the neighbors complained.
Zero. I sometimes answer it when it rings.
As much time as I spend on here which is too much. But really I find using intention when going online to be the most important part. If you just set arbitrary time limits and don't really care or think about them, you'll probably just find ways around them or to justify ignoring them (like I am now... my blocker is on Firefox, so I'm on Chrome :-) ). You need to actually go online with a purpose and then stick to it. The days I do best are the days I tell myself I'm going to go through my favorite subreddits, open tabs for everything that sounds interesting, read those things, then close reddit and not open it again until the next day. If I'm quick sometimes that takes me half an hour, sometimes closer to the hour limit. And the actual time limit you use should depend on a lot on how much actually useful content you look at online. If you're just looking at memes, you'd probably be better off with a 0 second time limit (IMO). If you're spending all your time learning about things that actually improve your life (things related to your career or hobbies, philosophy/religion, health related things like fitness and nutrition, self improvement etc.), 4.5 hours might not even be enough. I don’t limit my total screen time - I limit usage. I’m averaging 7 hours a day, with most of it being either library apps (I only read e-books and I read a lot), and various productivity apps I use for work. I limit Reddit to 1 hour three times a week. My reasoning is that I could be reading Shakespeare on paper, and I could be using a real paper calendar to keep track of my appointments, and a real paper to-do list, and so on - it doesn’t really change anything if that’s on a smartphone. What I need to limit is Reddit, because it’s a time suck, so I do that. I average 4.5 hours a day on my phone which is more than I want. That’s 31.5 hours a week. All that time is upsetting, I could be doing so much more with that time. And that’s just my phone time. I use a computer at work and at home too so really I’m probably closer to 5-6 hours a day. I set my screen time limits for 2 hours a day M-F and 4 hours a day on the weekend. I’m not always successful but screen time can make it more annoying to use my phone by having to hit ok every 15 minutes which helps me be more conscious of my use.

Do you sleep with the window open or closed?

I close all of my windows at night before I go to bed, for security reasons. The area that I live in is pretty quiet and we don't get a whole lot of crime up here but I'd still rather be safe than sorry.
Plus, if I leave my window open during the summer, you can bet that I'll wake up in the morning to find the whole cast of A Bugs Life just chilling in my bedroom.

If a zoo decided to add a small human habitat for everyone to see, what would the caption/information leaflet say? (How would you describe a human to other humans)? 😆

M1ssSemy’s Profile PhotoS. T.
There was a Twilight Zone episode about this once.
A family went to another planet where a house that was an exact replica of theirs had been built for them by the native aliens.
The family thought it was really sweet of them until they discovered that they couldn’t get out and there were bars on the windows, and that they were being gawped at by crowds of aliens who had put up a sign outside saying “human enclosure” or something similar.
One of the Kings of ancient Mexico, Montezuma, had a zoo where humans with disabilities and deformities were on display.
Such humans were on display in carnivals well into modern times.
Awful business if you ask me.

What do you usually do when it's really hot outside and you wanna keep yourself cool? In times when AC or fans weren't an option, what have you usually resorted to? 🥵🌡

TobbeAsks’s Profile Photoᛏᛟᛒᛒᚨ
If I live in a house - I'll stick with swimming 😄
Apartment... however, there's no other option besides AC.
When I didn't have it, I used to leave the freezer open (I had to, I own rabbits and they can't tolerate extreme heat) And that's the most stressful thing in a hot day - my animal wellbeing.
Anyway before ac I used to also sit in a cold shower - wet hair also helps to cool down, just as iced water/tea.
All of my windows are sun windows, so it gets extremely hot 🥵🥵

Szerintetek az Android vagy az iOS jobb? Miért tartjátok azt jobbnak, amit választottatok? 😋

DupleXDreemurr’s Profile PhotoHand of Dawn
Mivel a kérdés is úgy kezdődött, "szerintetek", így szubjektív véleményem következik.
Először is, hadd' szélesítsem a listát az általam használt okostelefonos rendszerekkel: Symbian, Windows Mobile 5/6, Maemo, Meego, Windows Phone 7/8/8.1, Windows 10M, Android, iOS.
A gesztusvezérlést sosem szerettem.

Before you say something , think how you’d feel if someone said it to you !

Im going to invrnt an app that lets u type messages back to urself but as a second person,, no not for staging fake conversations, but because of the fact that we need to have the same goddamned clarity on everything in our life that we have on another person’s life. Like we always tell everyone else what they should do in what situation but it’s windows logging off noise when it comes to ourselves. And also for staging fake funny conversations, yes.

What is the most boring job you can imagine?

"Brand ambassador" was a seasonal job where I was hired to go stand in certain stores at certain times wearing a polo shirt of the brand I was representing. My job was to stand there, smile at people, and chat with them about Brand X's products if they approached me (they were very clear that this was not a sales job and that I must not be aggressive in any way, which was A-OK with me). So, basically, I stood in a store for hours waiting for someone to approach me and say, "Hey, tell me more about Brand X!" So, as you can imagine, I really just stood around for hours talking to nobody. The one good bit was that they told us to read our product info binder when we were quiet. I'm friends with writers, so I told them to e-mail me their stuff they wanted feedback on. Then I printed out a few chapters at a time, hole-punched them, and popped them in my binder. I ended up reading like two whole novels that Christmas season while I stood in the store aisles. I interned for an IT department of a pretty big company for two summers. I mostly helped my boss with his work, but some days he had to travel to other offices around the state, and he would leave me in the main office as tech support for the employees. Few people ever had problems, so I just sat alone in the office by myself, far away from all the other employees all day. I mastered all the games on Windows. Minesweeper, Hearts, Solitaire, you name it.
Bagging groceries. My store managers would be extremely tougher on us baggers for some reason. During downtime, they'd have us do other misc tasks like restock paper and plastic bags even though it didn't need to be done. If we were to even lean forward against the belt when nobody was around we'd get yelled at to stand up perfectly straight and after 5+ hrs of that our feet would hurt.
I was 14 and got a job at a ski resort in town. My job was to sit in a booth at the top of the ski hill lift line. If someone fell off the lift I would press a button to stop the ski lift.
All day spent watching skiers come up the hill making sure they didn't fall. The resort used old style "Poma" lifts. If you Google it I'm sure you'll see what I mean. I did have a radio to listen to though. It was a long day.
I worked in a factory for two summers after high school. The first summer wasn't bad because I had to keep moving between machines. The second summer I was placed on one machine and my job was to put trays on a conveyor belt for 10 hours a day. I would grab a stack, place it sideways on the table beside me, then using my left hand pull a tray from the stack and place it on the belt.

Megcsináltam mindent amit írtál, a gépen.

How often do you dream while sleeping? Do you usually remember those dreams? If so, could you maybe share one you've had that you found interesting / funny? 😴💭

TobbeAsks’s Profile Photoᛏᛟᛒᛒᚨ
Everyone dreams. I go through stages of barely remembering/not remembering any dreams for days or longer, and weeks where I at least partially remember at least one dream a night. In high school, my psych teacher had a link on his school page that gave instructions on how to remember dreams, and it worked really well! Basically, if you write down your dream every time you wake up-even in the middle of the night, you'll remember your dreams in really great detail. While I was doing this "dream journal", I remembered multiple dreams each night in such amazing clarity! I dream almost daily and have decent dream recollection. They sort of move in scenes and I can't remember transitions from one to another, but I remember discrete scenarios pretty well. I get lost in wild architectures very often (both indoors and outdoors), and my dreams are pretty bizarre as a whole. I've been meaning to keep a dream journal, but it hasn't happened yet.
I used to dream much more when I was relgiously writing them down every morning. It really is true that if you work on dream recall it significantly improves. Lately I've just been recording when I go to sleep, wake up, and whether I had a dream. There are "yes"es all down the column with few exceptions, but I'm hard pressed to remember them now. Lately I've started to grade them out of 5, and I'm getting quite a few 2s, where I recall some scenes and details, but no plot. It's a matter of practice, and asking yourself whether you want to recall your dreams with regularity. I'm rather sad that my recall is fading, but I'm too busy in the morning to write things down. If you can spare 5 minutes though, I highly recommend it!
I don't usually dream that often or atleast remember what there about. The ones I can remember are ALL VIOLENT! The last dream I had was earlier this week. I dreamt I was on a school bus filled with a bunch of my former high school classmates. We were all scared and freaked out cause other teenagers in trucks, cars, and army tanks were trying to kill us by shooting us through the windows or throw grenades. I can't remember why but we stopped and they ordered all of us to get out and just started shooting.
I mean from what I've read/heard most everyone dreams every night and the issue is recollection of the dream. For me it is extremely rare that I am able to recall any dreams that I have once I am awake (probably once every couple of months). Usually the ones that I do remember are based around failure or the inability to achieve my goals.
I still remember a dream I had about 20 years ago. In the dream I was at a shopping mall on the second floor standing next to the railing that overlooked the lower floor area.

"Big Iron"
To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him didn't have too much to say
No one dared to ask his business no one dared to make a slip
For the stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
It was early in the morning when he rode into the town
He came riding from the south side slowly lookin' all around
He's an outlaw loose and running came the whisper from each lip
And he's here to do some business with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
In this town there lived an outlaw by the name of Texas Red
Many men had tried to take him and that many men were dead
He was vicious and a killer though a youth of twenty four
And the notches on his pistol numbered one and nineteen more
One and nineteen more
Now the stranger started talking made it plain to folks around
Was an Arizona ranger wouldn't be too long in town
He came here to take an outlaw back alive or maybe dead
And he said it didn't matter he was after Texas Red
After Texas Red
Wasn't long before the story was relayed to Texas Red
But the outlaw didn't worry men that tried before were dead
Twenty men had tried to take him twenty men had made a slip
Twenty one would be the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
The morning passed so quickly it was time for them to meet
It was twenty past eleven when they walked out in the street
Folks were watching from the windows every-body held their breath
They knew this handsome ranger was about to meet his death
About to meet his death
There was forty feet between them when they stopped to make their play
And the swiftness of the ranger is still talked about today
Texas Red had not cleared leather fore a bullet fairly ripped
And the ranger's aim was deadly with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
It was over in a moment and the folks had gathered round
There before them lay the body of the outlaw on the ground
Oh he might have went on living but he made one fatal slip
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
Big iron Big iron
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip

What do you like more: Summer jams or Christmas songs? 🎶/ Wat vind je leuker: Zomerhits of Kerstliedjes? 🎶

LunarHuntress’s Profile Photoʅʇuǝ⅄
I feel like if a Christmas song ever mistakenly comes on outside the Christmas season, people show immense disdain. Even if it's only December 26th. While I understand that a ton of Christmas music is annoying, are there any Christmas songs you wish weren't associated with the holiday so you could listen to them throughout the year? The three that jump out at me are The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland, and Happy Xmas (War is Over) by John Lennon. I'm fond of the melodies and imagery in the first two. I think Lennon's song has great atmosphere.
I'm not even religious, but when I hear these songs with a proper choir behind them, holy shit, you can just feel how people used to actually care about this holiday once upon a time. It lends it a sense of gravitas and makes this time of year feel like so much more than hokey novelty songs and plastic bullshit.
I've never actually stopped to read the lyrics, and it would seem they are both very dark and hopeful at the same time. It is a story of a starving sparrow getting fed by a small girl in a cold Christmas morning, but apparently the sparrow is actually the girl's dead brother (if I'm reading this right), who has come from heaven to greet her. Not sure if grim, sad, or optimistic.
For me, there is absolutely no album that is more summery than Operation Ivy - Energy. Maybe it's because I am from Florida and lived like 15 mins from the beach my entire childhood, but that album is the essence of driving to the beach with the windows down on a hot summer day. The albums that have always felt the most wintery to me are Sigur Ros - ( ) and Agaetis Byrjun. The bass line in Olsen Olsen particularly feels like snow falling. When I went to Iceland in December a few years back, I was taking the shuttle from the airport to downtown Reykjavik and as we were driving, Olsen Olsen came on shuffle. So one of my first moments in Iceland, driving through the snow on this shuttle bus, was listening to that song.
So far I've liked everything they've done. Their latest album is a bit weaker than the rest but still good. I think it's just lacking in memorable hooks and melodies. Tyler's vocals are great and Tim's synths are catchy as hell. I like the trance influence you can hear it a lot in how Tim produces the songs. Trance is another genre a love so it's a great combination. If they ever come nearby I'm definitely going to see them.
Brand New’s The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me has always been a fall record for me, both sonically and because I got into it in the fall of my junior year of high school. There’s something about the moments of empty cold interspersed with precipitating emotion and pain that play off the instrumentals and just sound like fall to me. Death Cab’s Plans is another fall record, though I got into this one my freshman year of college on long, lonely walks in the autumn twilight.

Hogyan változott a zenei ízlésed?

Linkin Park, System of a Down, Story of the Year, Falling in Reverse, csak, hogy mindegyik felhozott műfajt képviseljem egy-egy előadóval. What's the tallest building you've been in? How did it feel like to be that high up? Maybe post a pic of said building if there is one? Would make a fan of cool skyscrapers like me quite happy ☺🏢

TobbeAsks’s Profile Photoᛏᛟᛒᛒᚨ
It's National Library of Latvia. ✔
It's not the tallest building to exist, but I've been at the very top of it, and it's quite scary.
I made a little collage (all of them taken by me, except the first one)
You can see the stairs going down, it was such a challenge to get to the top.
The third pic is view from the very top, it doesn't look that good, because the windows are dotted (I have no idea why, it kind of ruins the picture)
But you can see some of the higher buildings in LV (like the st. Peter's Church in the 3rd photo)
Or the railway bridge (in the 4th pic)
Overall, it is so, so beautiful, such a view. 😍
