How did you study for hcl o's

Going to use this as an excuse to slack off from studying bc let's be honest no studying is happening anyway
HI THERE okay this is seriously important because I think hcl Os and freaking changed my life like not because I got a sudden appreciation for chinese but okay let me tell you this story of how essentially I studied my face and bones and body off for normal chinese like legit everyday of the Frking June Holidays my grandfather insisted on giving me like 2h of chinese tuition a day I kid you not and okay he was very dedicated love him muchness but also it was so tiring and I died and that was just for the motha oral which I choked anyway and got like a merit so f me but basically I studied really excessively hard like endlessly ENDLESSLY in sec3 and then in the end I got like a b3????? and I was just in intensive depression and I was like okay I'm done with you MOTHER TONGUE GTFAWAY ungrateful fool but then because O levels they always give you like so much time for chinese so I was like okay let me relaxsively study you and basically what I did was study in a proper way like instead of trying to memorise a shit ton of good phrases I tried to improve like my basic chinese writing style so that it sounded less disjointed?? Like I read a lot a lot of essays and took note/copied down like the simple words like there's no point in trying to memories phrases you don't even understand and therefore can't use but if you learn like slightly more complex (okay they're actually damn simple but they're complex to me bc my standard is like a negative 90323) and master those then you can just casually slip them in to your essay like good connector words to link up your argument well and stuff!!! Because basically I was aiming for like a pass so I just wanted an UNDERSTANDABLE ESSAY and like essentially because we can't compete with chinese scholars/people who are actually good at chinese the only way people like me (and I'm assuming you if you're asking for advice from a noobass like moi) can score is by the merit of our arguments like just having good thoughts and insights about the topic. So like what I did also was write a few essays like I think 3 hahahahah cause lazy and no time but basically pick relatively tough topics and actually write A GOOD ESSAY with like referring to other essays of a similar theme and picking out thematic vocab and stuff but with your own argumentation (you can plan it out in english first) and then I let my lao shi mark it and give me feedback and I asked her how to improve and stuff then I wrote another one actually I think I might only have written 2 lolllll. Then for close passage tbh that one I just guessed every single shit and compre do a lot of practices and actually read/understand the answer scheme actually don't even waste your time doing practices just underline the answer then read the answer scheme and you will learn much about answering techniques ya truly. And in the end I got a2!!!!!!! surprise! party! woo

Hello! I go to this cafe evry Sat to study, and for the past few weeks I've been seeing the same guy there! Everytime he comes, he'll sit at the table next to mine hehe. I've caught him looking at me several times but we've nvr actually talked b4. How can I get to know him w/o making things awkward?

TBVH I have never experienced this so I have no idea but also if you're studying every week I'm assuming there's some big exam coming up and if the guy has no balls to make a move then you move on~~~ or away to a new cafe don't b distracted from your AStars man later regret

do you prefer doing art in SCGS or ACSi?

Initially it was definitely SC because AC art just felt very like 'cold' and lonely like no one really had a fixed table to do your art at, you didn't have your own space and you couldn't just go to the art room to do work 247 like I did in SC. Plus I joined art halfway so I got put into the small class of 3 people (including me) and these guys were the digital kids so I was always just painting outside by myself whereas the other 18+ art kids were in the other class together so it felt really lonely la. But I think it was all about finding a group of friends in art that I was super comfortable with and in y6 I did find those fellaaaas and it was literally one of the best periods of my IB life I don't think I've ever laughed so much in my life..... like towards the end I think I felt a lot closer to lots of people in my art class (that I had never spoken to at all until the last few months lol) like it was a much more open environment where people would ask you for feedback/you could give your thoughts about their pieces/helping people set up/make videos/move things around it was a super stressful period but the people made it manageable :)

How much time do you spend for council?

For me personally, I feel like I spent quite a lot of time because I got involved in projects that I wasn't technically in the committee for but if people ask for your help/specific expertise idk I like to help I think the best part of council is meeting people who are so leadershippy and kind about lending their help when you're struggling like crazy with an event. And it's tiring and shit but these experiences shape you and build relationships so I feel like if you join council should just go all in man push yoself till you kill yourself 😁😁 That being said, you can also just do your own assigned jobs/regular duties well but this can become really really minimal at times and towards the end this was kinda what I did cause I got very jaded about council and all the hard work we put in not paying off most of the time and things not going well but I think if you do this the entire two years and don't have any council involvement where you really feel like you (and a group of people) are being pushed to your limits emotionally and physically and time constraintsly (lol sorry) you'll end up leaving AC feeling like being in council wasn't really a big part of your life in which you just wasted a large chunk of your life doing duty and all that nonsense for what just a cert....I didn't even get my distinguished service cert in the end lol what is my life man but I hope this answers your question I realise I just went super off tangent but maybe I just enjoy reminiscing what JC has thought me with strangers who seek to care 😁

Did you ever play any tricks on your classmates?

Not any LEGIT pranks but like the usual small stuff like when I'm out with my council friends they like to steal people's phones/wallets and just secretly pass them around so the person will never find it and they're like SEARCH ME LA SEARCH ME LA I DON'T HAVE IT

Ac sounds damn fun omg but my prelims are next week (bc sc damn kiasu) and you almost need raw 6 for ib sighz

Ya but actually early prelims are super good I feel cause then you have more time to study and get your shit together!! I guess it's like whatever happens make the most of your JC experience? Like as much as I loved/hated AC at times I feel like I would have had a different but still rather enjoyable time in whatever JC I went to in the end once I found friends I could click with. But still ya work hard and I hope you get in!!!

Did the boys ever tease you?

Oh of course like all the time but you just shrug it off and tease them back because lol u fools

-

But I think another thing that makes AC different is how small the cohort is like its so nice because then you can get close to a lot of seniors and your own batchmates like you legit know almost everyone at least as a hi bye friend!! Also they're super open about you joining as many CCAs as you want so I joined like 5....... Which is quite retarded but also very fun so I've got lots of different groups of friends and I got to jam pack my IB life with experiences that almost killed me emotionally but also very rewarding

What's Ac like!

I'm trying to think of all the things about it that's different from other schools and ummmm:
Guess the most blatant thing is that honestly there are really little girls in the school like in my class there were 4/5? And most of the time you don't really notice cause it doesn't make much of a difference but in small ways it means that sometimes the things they talk about is like lol okay soccer, hot girls, DOTA, gymming, their sec school stuff (cause most of them from ACSI sec) as compared to other girly nonsense like shopping and chick flicks HAHAA I realise this is just the most sexist generalizations in the world but also I am not afraid to say I can occasionally be a bimbo with shallow thoughts about grooming. That being said it's nice to have diversity in conversation I have kind of lost where I'm going with this but basically the guy majority is actually very fun I think because let's be honest guys are just funny and like boisterous and although I feel like in the beginning most were not that friendly BC afraid talking to girls would get them branded as man whores almost all of my closest friends from AC are guys. This also means that the girls have an unspoken solidarity and warmth towards each other hahaha like you can go to the toilet and just start talking about life with all the random females in there and you bond about lady stuff ☺️
