(I might have asked you this a long time ago, but i forgot, sorry if repeat). What do you think of Onew's performance of "Friend"? (with the 39sec long note)

lol I finally listened to it. I like it- Onew did really well and his voice is really great in this type of song and range! The long note is kind of excessive though (from a compositional point of view), props to him for keeping it interesting the entire time...

would you ever create an amazon/ebay/online product wishlist so that followers/fans/people could send you gifts? Or would that seem weird to you? on that note, would you react well to idol-style fame?

https://amzn.com/w/1OLG8HAUAX0KY is my Amazon wish list- I didn't create it for anyone, really, but usually put stuff on there that I want but it's not necessary. When I want to splurge, I can look there and buy something.. but definitely it'd be great for someone else to buy it for me :)! Na, it's not that weird to me.

Second, idol-style fame.. err.. I think I would hate it. I like my roommates (I have 6 of them) but seeing them all the time is a bit tough and I purposely avoid them a lot. It's not that there's anything wrong with them, I just need to be alone a lot more.

Have you heard of the Sad Asian Girls Club? What are your thoughts? Would you (or Patricia) ever collab with them?

interesting, never heard of them, they're a little too non-mainstream and fringe for me to be honest. I definitely support the cause they support but the way they go about it is very like.. just for a certain person, I think. They try too hard to be edgy, do you know what I mean? Being _not passive_ doesn't mean being aggressive or edgy..

(anon abt job, thanks for reply ><; ) i'm pretty sure it might be the personal issue, but 1 that i've struggled my entire life & still unable to fix to this day (related to procrastination). what resources would you recommend to "fix"(?) oneself, i guess, in time for another job? (weird wording...)

if you've struggled with this your entire life, I'm wondering if you have undiagnosed ADD/ADHD. I'd suggest seeing a professional about that, if you can. It's kind of hard to give any advice without knowing any particulars about your situation, but I'd suggest starting small goals (and achieving them) and then moving up.

this might be a weird advice question... i'm stuck in a career runt where i'm not able to stay in a job more than 1 year/keep getting fired & i already graduated 2 years ago (from undergrad). do you think it'd be worth it to try grad school?

yeah, always happy to answer these questions. some questions right off the bat (you don't have to answer; some things to think about yourself)- 1. why do you think you keep getting fired? have you asked for feedback? 2. is this really the kind of career you want to pursue? These are questions- especially number 1- that won't be solved by simply going to grad school. I'm going to be frank- on a superficial level, this sounds like you have some personal issues to sort out, and you should probably focus on that first and figuring how to address them, or at least, manage them.

what do you think of the quality of antikpopfangirl, kpop, kpopalypse, asianjunkie, soompi, omonatheydidnt, etc etc as kpop blogs? what about your own or callmepatricia?

Hm.. I mean, they exist for different reasons and cater to different audiences, right? Some are more like for quick news, some for analysis, others just for fangirling, etc. I don't think it's fair to compare them and their "quality." I think the quality of my blog (of the review type) is in the low middle. I'm not organized, consistently, or timely. I write fairly good analyses but I don't pretend to really KNOW what I'm talking about.

what are your thoughts on those synthesia "impossible piano" songs on youtube? Would you ever cover/play one? (example- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE914913A8DA383D0)

No thoughts, really. I wouldn't cover or play one ever.. There's a lot of other repertoire that are nearly impossible for me anyway that I think I'd like to master first, like Ondine.

I've been using google's blogspot for several years, but lately i've been considering wordpress. Since you use wordpress for your blog, what pros/cons do you think there are to using it versus blogspot?

sorry for the delay- I like wordpress because it's very popular and reliable, but you have to pay for a lot of features that are for free on blogspot. Customization isn't as fine-grained. I've just stuck with wordpress since I've used it so long, honestly, and it's fine for my purposes, now that I've stuck with more of a minimal approach.

I feel like I'm getting ganged up on at work. My coworkers talk behind my back amongst themselves and my manager, and I'm frequently pressured and criticized even though I believe my output is fairly good. I want to quit, but I'm afraid my manager will speak ill of me to my next employer....

I've been reading through that forum, and a lot of it says that no matter what, your mental health is really the most important thing and if you really cannot take it anymore, figure out what the most opportune time is to quit, and hand in your two weeks' notice (or whatever the standard is at your office). Be professional about it. I completely agree. I don't know your situation, but if you're in a position to quit and devote 1-2 months to job-hunting (and maybe have a part-time job on the side), that might be best. Otherwise, I guess your bet is to try to interview for other jobs and be secretive about it (though run the risk of your manager being called for a reference), and quit when you get an offer. Or at least, just use your network/LinkedIn to do a few informational interviews with places you find interesting, get a feel for what's out there. Then quit once you feel like you kind of know what to aim for.

In the meantime, before you quit, I'd write down specific incidences of any harassment in a personal notebook or something you can take home, etc in case this ever comes up again and write down, as well, all of the positive things your manager has said about you, and the positive things you have contributed to the office. When talking with your manager, try bringing up these positive things (subtly, of course). Keep up with the quality of your output as well.

Again, it's a really sucky situation, and the only long-term solution is to quit :( you can't force your boss to give you a good reference (though in the US, you can try a cease-and-desist letter in certain circumstances, which I learned from Googling). There are various ways to deal with "why I quit my last job" in interviews, and best solution is just to be candid but brief and professional about it. You can Google some sample answers, because I'm not really good at this, and maybe bounce it off someone with work experience who you trust. Stay strong! I know you will work through this! Keep me updated.

oh no! :( if you want to be more specific: why do you think that your coworkers are talking ill of you? is it to do with how you look, how you dress, etc? is your manager someone you can talk to? is there someone higher up than your manager that you could speak to? is your firm big enough for an HR that you could perhaps talk to confidentially? I'm very sorry that you had to go through this. People can be unbelievably petty and it's really not a good idea to stay in that situation even if they stop talking behind your back about you, there's always going to be that "feeling".. hm.. my college's alums have a forum where they talk about these kinds of things, I'll see if there's anything applicable to you.
