she was barely a teenager, half his size and twice his fierceness and when she was angry with him, that was when she reminded him most of himself. if sydney was to fight in a war, she wouldn’t go to war carrying weapons. she’d go to war carrying nothing but her words, sharpening them like knives, waiting for the perfect moment to fire her shot to make sure it hit home. the air was humming around them and he was sure he wasn’t the only one to feel it. she didn’t break the gaze, instead held her head up high and stared back, unafraid. how strange it was to see so much fire in such a tiny human being. "you promised you wouldn’t leave yet here you stand, about to leave us once again“, she added, twisting the knife in its wound. he felt the humming laying over him like a thick blanket of syrup, shielding him from what was about to come. a thousand thoughts, all of them left unsaid, shot through his head while he made himself go numb — a feeling he had learned to fear more than pain itself because it meant he might just fade. he was dying and her powers caused it. he wouldn’t be here to keep her safe in the current state he was in. his vengeance was the reason she was in danger in the first place. his presence in her life was the number one thing upholding said danger and he wouldn’t be able to live with himself if anything was to happen to her. no matter how you turned and twisted it, parting from them was the only way to keep them safe and to find a cure for himself. if he was to tell her exactly that, she would insist on coming along, he knew she would because even if they weren’t biologically related, they were similar like that. instead he took a deep breath and took all that was left in him to answer. the corner of his mouth twitched and he found himself smiling, like so often before he lied, hoping she wouldn’t realize. "maybe I’m tired of constantly keeping an eye on you."

first off, I don’t think there’s that one specific reason that I’m homeless, it’s more the combination of a series of unfortunate events and my own choices. I’ve been wanted since I broke out of prison roughly a decade ago, a choice I’ve made, knowing that I could never settle down anywhere. I’ve had a special unit after me ever since. for a while I found home in my chosen family and rented hotel rooms none of us could actually pay for but when we had to part for the sake of their safety, I was left with nothing. I have a terminal illness constantly breathing down my neck and I’m searching for a cure all across the states. (more or less successful considering that I still have it but saying it out loud almost feels like a defeat.) back to the point, my medical condition requires flexibility to a certain extent. that combined with the fact that I’m constantly broke because I have zero income and absolutely no skills regarding credit card fraud or any of the sorts — you see my point?

last week I watched a government being overthrown and a whole country going to absolute shit just to log off twitch and see it was happening in real life as well. one may think that said tattered system should be busy recuperating when in reality the witch-hunt for everything that’s different just keeps getting worse. if you don’t fit into the system, you’ll forever be treated as an outcast at best, an enemy of the state at worst. with all of that going on, thieves still steal, politicians still lie, killers still kill, people still starve. the year’s 2021, it’s the USA from the view of a cynical EO with a special unit after him.
(side note: honestly guys you have bigger problems than me)

am I the only one who thinks it’s weird when people reblog 90% of your blog after you’ve been especially picky with the stuff you post and/or you spent time actually searching for matching content and people just be like
imma take this and tag it as "my thoughts" or "character"
(I’m not talking about a reblog or two but isn’t it boring to have the same blog content rotating between all of fake idk)

everything that’s poetic for „I’m so evil but also the best thing to ever happen to you“ like idk maybe I’ve been on tumblr for too many ages but these kinda quotes just turn my insides upside down and leave me with nothing but slight discomfort and second-hand embarrassment

Mitchell „Mitch“ Turner — My former cell mate in prison and my partner in crime ever since we escaped. Nicknamed „big guy“ by Dom, Mitch suffers from a cosmic case of „wrong place, wrong time“ and given his intimidating outer appearance, he’s the first one to be wrongfully convicted. We found each other behind bars, the friendly neighborhood giant and the skinny creep that barely ever speaks, and became sort of family when Syd joined us. He’s been my personal hacker and security man ever since.
Sydney „Syd“ Clarke — nicknamed „tiny terror“ by Dom. After being shot due to being an ExtraOrdinary, I found her and took her in at age 12. Her biological aging is slowed due to her abilities so I’m guessing she should be around 17-ish even if she’s been with me for over a decade. I never officially adopted her but it was never a question to leave her behind somewhere along the road. Syd, like all of us, doesn’t have any biological family to count on so we took it upon ourselves to find people we would die for. Mitch and Syd are inseparable and he’s the only one I trust to protect her with his life, given I owe her mine.
Dominic „Dom“ Rusher — a former soldier that’s almost been killed by a landmine back in the days. So fate wanted, Dom survived severely injured and almost got driven into desperation by the lasting pain caused by his injuries. I found him and made him numb to his agony in exchange for being able to use his supernatural abilities to my advantage. We bonded over both of us needing something from the other but I believe that, by now, there’s more tying us together than sheer need.

I’m not someone to get angry easily let alone yell at someone but if you come at me with double standards and don’t see them yourself because you’re so busy thinking you’re right, you won’t ever hear from me again. (And that’s sadly no exaggeration.)
