The fact that I'm still alive. Because no matter how shitty things might be, as long as I'm still alive and well, there is still a chance to turn things around. As long as there is life, there is hope.

Depends on situation. If I'm evaluating someone to be my friend, it would be character. If for work purposes, it would be skills etc. But fundamentally, I can never be close to anyone if I don't agree with their character.
