A recent Free! Eternal Summer episode had Haru and Rin travel to Sydney. How accurately were the landmarks and sights there replicated?
I haven't been to Sydney in over ten years, so my response isn't confident. The anime showed the typical Sydney landmarks (the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House) as well as a curiously empty Bondi Beach. The latter actually makes sense when I think about it, since they would have been in Australia during winter.
The streets were also accurately portrayed. You can really observe the difference between Australia's suburban streets and Japanese ones. Australian ones are much broader and the houses are more spread apart.
I was amused that KyoAni used actual Australian voice actors to play the Australians. The accents were authentic and they even used typical Aussie lingo. I cracked up laughing when the Aussie guy referred to Haru as "mate" and Haru responds shyly with his awkward Japanese accent.
The rude hotel receptionist was also true to life (unfortunately), as was the general layout out of the single-bed room.
One area which KyoAni did get wrong was with the proportion of white people in Sydney. Sydney's population is very racially diverse. I suppose this was a deliberate decision on KyoAni's decision, in order to emphasise how different the Australians are from the Japanese.
