Yo mate! Any other tips for getting that roboish delay sound other from like d_BlueGlitch and stock delay plugins in FL? Mine sound so weak and too high ended.. I do seem to find the comb spot pretty often.. cheers! :) love ur stuff

I like to use the comb filter in massive as a starting point, flanger can be really cool too. You can tame the delay in your plugins and make them sound tighter by automating the controls.

what do you use for your vocals on your track? is it from a pack or do you rip it out of audio clips?

All over the place really! Packs, recordings of myself and friends who rap, stuff like that.

Favorite massive wavetables and filters?

I usually lean toward carbon the most, but I use all kinds for different effects.
As far as filters go, I love comb, band reject, double notch, all pass, daft... come to think of it, I think they're all pretty wicked.

Do you put any reeverb on your main basses and do you split them up into like low, mids and high but the same patch, or just go with one patch and put a sub under? <3

One patch and sub underneath usually, and I do like reverb on the midbass sometimes, really depending on the nature of the track. Reverb gives it more space, a lack thereof gives you a 'tighter' sound.

Would you have any tips for producers (like me) to get a good promotion?

The most important thing you can do is establish yourself with a library of professional-grade material. Get a good 3 SOLID songs done and as professional sounding as you can. Then start to contact labels, music blogs/websites, promoters on youtube etc. Grind grind grind!

What motivatea you to write music?

All sorts of stuff, everything from being alive, to how interesting I find artificial intelligence, to deeply embedded emotions.

How did you got your artist name?

dirtyfrequence’s Profile Photonick
After going through a ton of different names, I finally decided (Sub)woofer (Oxy)gen was appropriate for most of what I make, since I love bass. I realized that I need to make the name, not let the name make me.

How did your love for making music started?

That, my friend, is as untraceable as where mankind began haha. Feels like all of my life. Been playing with digital synthesizers since I was a kid, and started meddling with FL when I was 13. The rest is history.

Would you be up to do some classes mate? I've been following ur work not since much long time ago (maybe half year) but I really dig your style and the way you interact with the dubstep community. Did you ever think about being paid to teach som1 some stuff? :)

For sure, I love to teach. =] Hit me up on facebook we can talk more.

Yooo you're straight up slaying the robostep game right now. Hands down best stuff I've heard since old Datsik. I have one question for you, I reallllly like the transients on your drums. Do you use a specific transient shaper? I'm looking to invest in one and I'm having trouble choosing.

nah i don't use a shaper actually, just eq things till they sorta fit in, and a lot of times i'll add a touch of compression to glue it all together

A few days i saw you on the street Beware, next time i'll kidnap you and open your brain to steal your secrets haha

Could you give us a basic demo email template? I want to send some of my tunes to a few labels but i'm totally suck at writing a demo email. I know it's a bit too much, but what i have to lose asking for it.

This is one of the best things you can read to figure that out.

Basically just put time and effort into constructing a demo just as you would the music within it. The more seriously you take it, the more seriously they will take you.

I find myself stuck in a problem, I know my synthesis and I have no problem creating them. The problem i have is not being able to give them any movement/flow etc. I have only just started producing i have no idea what im meant to do i automate it? What key features would i automate? except cutoff

Filters, volume, distortion, etc... you can do anything and everything. In the end trust your ears, and don't limit yourself.

What you think about Skrillex jumping on this "riddim" bandwagon? His remix of Burial alongside with Trollphace is cool and stuff, but you thinks is a good deal?

I respect him for it. If I blew up like that, I'd probably wanna creep back into the underground myself.

How does one describe the signature sound of "SubOxyde?"

benv666’s Profile PhotoBen
Not really sure how you'd go about that, I do it through the music itself.

where do you buy your bass patches , i just bought yours I really want to sound like you i think im better w. it

I don't buy bass patches, I make them.

How do you get your sub to stand out in the mix soo much?

Just like with everything in my mix, I clear up room for it. I'll listen to my entire tune with the sub and kick turned OFF to make sure that nothing else bleeds into the low end (at least WHILE the sub/kick is playing). I also trim a bit of low end from my kick.

how do i make my sounds louder with out clipping?

Turn everything else down in your mix. Start out low so you have room from the start. When your entire track is playing, the master should not peak beyond -6dB. This isn't set in stone, but it's a good rule of thumb to avoid clipping. Also make sure you're not clipping in the generator either, I've seen a lot of massive patches, even ones that people sell, that are clipping within massive.
If you're doing sound design and want a crunch, but want to avoid clipping, play with the Saturators or shapers, that way your distortion is in control.

Thoughts on AR the Bushmaster? You know him? He cool and stuff?

He has incredible tunes, and I can tell he posesses a similar manner of OCD in his work that I do. I tried contacting him on soundcloud awhile ago but haven't received anything back.

How do you start your tracks?

It varies every time, I don't have a set method. I just go in and let inspiration guide me.

I have a really hard time with getting good catchy riffs and loops. I am confident in my abilities, and music theory. None the less I struggle soo much with getting nice melodies, basslines, and everything to fit perfectly together and variate. Do you have any tips? Other then practice! haha

That's the hardest thing to generalize. I really don't know a good way to put this. When it comes to flow and melody, I still just play around until it sounds right.
