Well, there are different kinds of evolutionary theories. For starters the bullshit ones that are based on the assumption that all human behavior is hard-coded in our genes and that contemporary (or 1950:es) American culture is universal.

An then we have the ones about evolution of memes rather than genes, that culture is evolving through the same principles as genetic evolution: Survival of the fittest behaviors and ideas. Based on this kind of non-biologistic EvoPsych, it stands to reason that the acerage woman wanted to cling on to their men back in more patriarchal days, but shun relationships now that they can make it on their own - yet are still expected to do most of the housework and childcare while in a relationship.

Well, having children tend to have two effects that affect sexuality:

1. The children take up a lot of time, energy and emotional investment. Thus leaving less time, energy and room for emotional investment to other things, such as sex.

2. You want to stay with your partner for the children's sake, even if you are no longer attracted. Instead of moving on to being single or getting a new partner, you demand that your current partner settle for a life without sex.

Giving birth can sometimes damage the vagina, making intercourse painful or worse. The doctors typically don't care about that, and they are usually not trained to deal with it anyway.
