College scouts from what schools will be at the underclass game?

We invite schools from a 6-8 state radius and they attend based on the roster of prospects participating and their desire to actively scout particular players of interest. The finalized roster is forwarded to schools in advance of the event and has led to a mix of Division I, II and III schools attending over the past two years.

Who will win the District 2 AAA championship?

Stay tuned. Our preseason class AAA bracket prediction is coming out tomorrow. Keep an eye out for class AA in a few minutes.

Sophomore year should I contact colleges?

It is highly advisable to be contacting colleges as early as the fall of your sophomore year. Our "RECRUITING ESSENTIALS" blog takes recruits and their parents through the recruiting process from A-Z on a weekly basis. Yesterday's entry covered the NCAA Eligibility Center and basics that all recruits need to know regarding eligibility as a freshman in college. >> http://www.prepbaseballreport.com/news/PBR/Recruiting-Essentials-NCAA-Eligibility-Center-9450168723

Who are some early front runners to win the AAAA state title?

We will break down all districts and conferences during the months of February and March as we do every year. We will also roll out our Preseason Rankings in each classification with our look at favorites heading into the 2015 season. Rather than making any kind of predictions at this point we will wait until we begin the process of breaking down the entire state leading into the start of the high school season.

What school had the most 2015 early signing this year that could be a powerhouse in the WPIAL

Penn-Trafford had five early signees including 2B Shane Churma (Slippery Rock), OF Luke Smeltz (Pitt-Johnstown), C Scott Koscho (Navy), OF Shane Mallon (Alderson Broaddus) & OF Chris Common (Pitt-Greensburg). If the Warriors can get quality innings on the mound from Smeltz and 2016 LHP Dom Coconcelli they could be a WPIAL team to watch for when state tournament play begins in June.

How many pitchers in the Philadelphia Catholic League have a legitemly good shot at touching 90+?

Touching 90+ what? Pitches in a game? Depends on how efficient they are. The goal for a 7-inning CG should be under 90 pitches (which works out to slightly less than 13 pitches per inning).
Oh, you meant velocity? Joey Lancellotti (PBR has seen him up to 89mph), Dan Hammer (up to 88), and Pat Doudican (up to 87) are the most likely candidates. Eric Petroski (up to 88) and Ethan Pritchett (up to 86) could get there eventually as well.

Who are the top 10 players in The Philadelphia Catholic League for this upcomming season?

Here are ten names to watch:
Neumann-Goretti 2015 LHP Pat Doudican (College of Charleston) is the top LHP.
Father Judge 2016 RHP Dan Hammer (Pitt) has the stuff to emerge as the dominant RHP.
Archbishop Wood 2017 OF/RHP Joey Lancellotti (North Carolina) is the most complete two-way player.
La Salle 2015 OF Jimmy Herron (Duke) is the best athlete and base runner.
Bonner-Prendergast SS Richie Tecco (Rider) is the slickest defensive infielder.
Neumann-Goretti 2016 OF Brian Verratti is a highlight reel defender in CF.
Cardinal O'Hara 2015 OF Nick Newman (Bloomsburg) may very well have the most raw pop in the league.
Archbishop Wood 2015 C Nick Lafferty is the top returning backstop.
Neumann-Goretti 2015 IFs Justin Curtin & Vinny Vaccone comprise the best DP combo.

when do 2017 rankings come out

Final team rankings from the high school season as well as final Class of 2014 player rankings will be the 1st items to be released this week. We will then release updated Class of 2015, Class of 2016 and initial Class of 2017 rankings as the week unfolds.

Who are some of the top prospects of 2017 class?

We will introduce the initial PA Class of 2017 player rankings in early June following the end of the high school season. 6'3", 235-lb. C/3B Shane Muntz (Malvern Prep) and SS/RHP Matt Gorman (Penn Charter) are definitely two of the best prospects in the class that we have had an opportunity to see to date. The PA Underclass Games will offer a chance for top prospects in this class to perform with and against each other on the same stage for two days at Misericordia University in June >> http://www.prepbaseballreport.com/pennsylvania-store/2014-pa-underclass-games-invite-only.html

Will you breakdown the catholic leauge?

We will be breaking down all conferences in the state, but it takes time. Over the remainder of this week we will cover WPIAL Class AA; AAA in District 5, 6, 9 & 10; the Philadelphia Catholic League; the Lehigh Valley Conference; the Mountain Valley Conference; the Colonial League & the Schuylkill League. As we continue the process of previewing each conference you may catch up with any that you have missed at http://prepbaseballreport.com/pennsylvania/conferencepreviews

What ages are the games?

We have a full schedule of events during the course of the summer. The PA Top Prospect Games, PA Underclass Games, PBR Mid-Atlantic Border Battle and the WV Top Prospect Games all require that a prospect be invited. A prospect may request an invitation on the website for any of these events >> http://www.prepbaseballreport.com/pennsylvania/events
The age of player varies depending on the event, but all information is available on the website along with further information on open events open to all prospects without an invitation during the summer months.

Do any colleges attend your events?

There were 35 colleges in attendance at the PA Top Prospect Games last June at Bucknell University. Pitt, Penn State, Binghamton, Kent State, Coastal Carolina, UMBC, St. Johns, Lehigh, Bucknell, Temple and Seton Hill are just a few of the Division I programs that have attended. The list of Division II, Division III and JUCO schools is far too long to list. Colleges from across the country also have the ability to follow players progress on our website and on Twitter posts daily 365 days a year.

I mean schools that are independent, but in the PIAA, 1a independents

We will not be breaking down some areas of the state by District rather than by league or conference. District 6, 7, 9 & 10 will all be covered in this fashion.

will you break down independent teams too?

We will also look at all non-PIAA teams that play in a Pennsylvania conference or league. The Inter-AC league will be one of the first to be evaluated because of the amount of talented prospects it produces every year.

As per PIAA rules, are pitchers' arm sleeves required to be of the same length on each arm while on the mound?

The quick answer is yes. If you are inquiring about a pitcher wearing a compression sleeve on his throwing arm he may do so as long as it is the same length and color as the sleeve on his non-throwing arm. It also may not be white or of a color that would be distracting to the hitter. The easiest answer would be to wear full length sleeves (i.e. under armour) with the compression sleeve underneath the sleeves.

Are any kids from souderton HS ranked this year?

Anyone can perform a search for a specific player or a specific high school on the PBR website. Simply type in the player's name or the name of the school in the "Find a Player" search box in red on the right hand side of the Pennsylvania main page. >> http://prepbaseballreport.com/pennsylvania
If a player is ranked it will tell you at the top of his player profile page. To view current Pennsylvania player rankings by class, as well as complete results from the Preseason All-State Showcase check out the alert box in the upper right hand corner of the page.

How important is varsity playing time as a sophomore and junior

Playing time at the varsity level early in a player's high school career is an indicator of success at the next level, but there are a lot of variables. Some large AAAA schools have talented seniors on their roster this year that will see their first real varsity action. A prospect with lesser talent may get an opportunity to play much earlier at a smaller school. College coaches spend their summers attending showcases and travel baseball tournaments. Showing the ability to compete against quality competition of a similar age on this stage is even more important than in high school because it will be done with college coaches watching and evaluating.

Thoughts on Hanover Area this year

Preseason Conference Previews began to be released today. >> http://prepbaseballreport.com/news/PA/WPIAL-Preview-Class-AAAA---Section-1-0523468791
We have had many questions of this nature and we will refrain from commenting moving forward as we will be breaking down every league and conference around the state over the coming weeks. Please be patient, the state of Pennsylvania is enormous with over 650 schools playing high school baseball. We will get to every conference in time.

Im a freshman now getting put on my schools Varsity team should i just wait after the season to contact schools

Very few colleges have an opportunity to scout high school players during the regular season because they are busy with their own schedules, but that doesn't mean they aren't watching. The earlier you let a school know that you have an interest the better. While they may not have a chance to see you in action this spring they will certainly be lining up their summer scouting schedule. With the current state of social media it is also possible for college coaches to follow potential prospects closely during the spring and keep tabs on their progress.
