I'm certain that no-one yet knows the answer. It's an intriguing and perplexing question that I don't think can be done justice in this small box. I normally refuse to contemplate these kinds of questions as I'm worried that I'd slip into a state of perpetual muse. Despite this, this is the theory that holds the most potential, in my opinion:
