Personally, the only degree if at all I want family bonds is so Aleida can spend some time mothering her babies so she doesn't get depressed about it. But really, she will see what orcish families are like, because K'zala and Sho'ka will give birth sooner. (1/2)

>Plus, encouraging mother/son closeness sounds like a recipe for disaster. (One word: Oedipus) I don't get it, what's wrong with some good old fashioned mom fucking.

He was probably referring to the part where he murdered his father.

Eh, I'm not sure that trying to make the clan move away from communal rearing of whelps is a good thing. Given the sheer amount of whelps coming along, giving them all individual attention isn't feasible. Plus, encouraging mother/son closeness sounds like a recipe for disaster. (One word: Oedipus)

Up to you all. Orcish culture as it was before communally raises whelps on a "whoever's there to look after them at the time" basis, there's very little concept of familial bonds beyond the clan in general.
Not to mention using them as pest control. Nothing sharpens the hunting instincts like letting orcs just old enough to walk hunt down rodents and insects and spiders and whatnot. Keeps them fed, toughens them up, and keeps the number of vermin in the camp down. That should give you an idea of the level of orcish parenting.

Will Ur'shal be expected to mentor whelps when they become old enough? Or does his duties as chieftain mean that he hasn't got the time?

No-one's going to get mad if he doesn't, since he is the chieftain. Really it's up to him.

>No-one has ever really suggested going out of their way for Ur to pay attention to the various animals your clan has amassed. This is 100% unacceptable

Well, you still have time to change that.

What did you think when the idea to magic for a well came up? Had you not finalized the Vaki idea by then because you didn't know if we would stumble upon the network here, and wanted her to live where we would meet her as one of the first things in there?

Vaki was a vague concept that I had for a subterranean river fey that I built upon once it became obvious that you were going to be breaching the dwarven network.

>tfw I was the one who brought up the idea of having the witches dig underground for water >tfw the dwarven network is literally a secret path to almost half the current map and leads beyond the Wall I am so fucking happy we went through the well idea, even if this won't be useful for a long while

Congratulations anon. You probably would have come across the trade network sooner or later, but your idea certainly sped the process up.

Is the map we have a cutout from a larger whole map, or just an individual one? What I'm asking is, have you designed the rest of the world, or just this part so far? Honestly, we could probably spend 200 threads just exploring this map if we had the time and patience. What do colors mean?

What you have there is about one third of the full map.
As for the colours, the dark orange of the wastes is uneven rocky wasteland, the yellowish bit beneath it is where the wasteland starts to become flatter, the brown is the mountains, the light green of the ghoul coast and the Jade Protectorate is grassland, the darker green in the middle of the map is obvious jungle, with some bits of mountainous jungle which is the darker colour, and then the slightly different shade of green in the jungle is jungle wetland, the bit of the southern city-states you can see in the lighter green is scrubland which is more hilly towards the mountains in the middle.
If you look close enough to see the icons a lot of it should be pretty self-explanatory.

Plus, we need to get on the good side of Tak'zaya Ska more, and I assume interacting with animals in such a way, learning how to tame things, how to establish dominance etc. is something she'd like. Plus you know we will eventually have some sort of top tier mount for Ur. Like an Alpha Sumthng (2/2)

Yup, Tak'zaya Ska would approve.

Well, can I suggest next thread that he at least gets familiar with the animals? See if he has any skill in that area, maybe wrestle a Craglion unto submission or something? Just, you know, since we have all these mounts, better to know shit about them and be able to make personal use of them. (1/2)

Craglions aren't really mount material, too small and wiry. They're more useful as hunting animals.

Well, we could always just make it so communal slaves have a lower status then personal slaves, maybe? Except for ones used by priesthoods or something, for instance, the important ones. Regarding the cultural engineering thing.

Could do.

Not!Scorpions are serious business and a very real danger to law abiding citizens. Just last year, they caused an estimated 50 million dollar loss for the economy, and this is just their direct influence.

Scorpions need to step up their game, not!scorpions making them look bad.

Riddick is less dark and more colorful, cartoony fun(in a sense) in the first half, which I liked. But once the rain starts, I didn't like the movie as much. Had a hot girl though. If you liked the Pitch Black, this is in a way about returning to Riddick's roots, so it's worth a watch I think.

Cool, I guess I'll go purchase it legally on dvd and watch it like a responsible law-abiding citizen.
...yup.

So Kabuya of filthy space monkeys killed(?) Vegeta. Thoughts?

It's the only Chuckles quest I don't follow, since I'm not a big DBZ fan.

Is there Oni or somesuch like in my monster Girl Encyclopedia, chinese cartoons, or touhous? If there were, would they be a race, or mountainfey? say Ur doesn't know if to spoilery~

Oni are a subspecies of giant, like ogres are.
Nearest ones to here, according to Ku'zag, would most likely be on Hisari and its surrounding islands, off of the coast south-east of the southern city-states.

How is the relationship between Ur and Sho'ka's favorite Stormhorn?

Ur mainly just leaves her to get on with it.
No-one has ever really suggested going out of their way for Ur to pay attention to the various animals your clan has amassed, so I assumed he was just kind of uninterested in them beyond their combat applications.

Friendly advice, if you're thinking of watching the Tokyo Ghoul anime, DON'T! Read the manga instead.

I read some of the manga, thought it was terrible.
I heard the anime was worse, so I avoided it like the plague.

I assume a Nightwyrd can't exactly be trained, right? Not even by Vor'zal? Hmm, could Vor'zal take its form, though?

Nightwyrds aren't natural creatures, they're a magical experiment which has somehow become a stable species in its own right. They are too intelligent and unstable to really be 'trained'.

A rather easy work around of that is that arena fighters get preferential picks on raids, war maneuvers, combat missions, or diplomatic functions. Shotgun diplomacy.

I see.

2/2 as there are soon to be hatched Orc Harpies and a few already pregnant orc women we can set about the slow gradual leaning away from the communial rearing of whelps. Happy mothers make happy slaves. (Protect Aleida's smile)

Well, many of your communal slave women are probably a little too cumdrunk to ever really be mothers to their whelps. For the slave women of individual orcs however you might have more luck.

Ur can take the actions learned from the skyhunters of the supremely loyal Half-ogre orc bodyguard of the chieftain. He turns it about, seeing that distain is made toward the stud ogre, towards the Mother. Teach children to respect the mother, who gave birth to a strong whelp like themselves.

Cultural engineering, eh. Well, if you want to, give it a shot.

Basically he builds an immunity against these things: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtiDi0N7jRc I couldn't find a clip of the process itself, but you can find the movie easily, and it's a relatively early scene. The movie itself is sorta fun, for me anyway, at least the first half.

That is a pretty neat scene. Aside from the bone which folds out into a sword, that just looks silly.

In Riddick(2013) Vin has to get through a pond filled with venomou not!scoprions, so he injects himself and his not!dog with the venom of baby not!scorpions until he has enough resistance to be able to fight the mama not!scorpion.

Got to watch out for those not!scorpions.

The movie Riddick that came out in 2013 or something, I mean. I think you were thinking of either Chronicles of Riddick or Pitch Black. Riddick is the 3rd movie in the series. I think it was funded by Vin Diesel alone, actually.

I was thinking of Chronicles of Riddick, which was awful. Pitch Black was decent.
Is Riddick worth watching then?
