How was your first job and any tips to those looking looking for jobs for the first time?
look for a job before you graduate!
my first job had a higher pay than average because i applied early, beating out all the competitors. post grad when all my friends were either freaking out over employment or fooling around, i was already learning my ropes. plus i graduated knowing i had job security. i also had the two months or so to consider other job offers and see if the one i chose was right for me.
make sure your resume is nice and professional! get a friend to read it and give advice. your cover letter should be personalised to the company to show you did your research eg. mention a past achievement of the company that you admire.
even if you have all the skills, if you can't communicate that, you might bomb the interview. prepare. google possible interview questions, practice. record yourself answering to listen to how you sound.
your zero experience knowledge will not beat that of someone in the industry, so humble yourself and learn. what you learn in uni is likely a fraction of rl work or perhaps even irrelevant. do internships to make sure your field is what you want to work in. your internship may translate into a full time position.
