Any good comic book recs?

YES!!!! I'm not sure what genre you're into and if you're looking for singles (ongoing series that come out issue by issue every month) or graphic novels (hardbound or paperback collected series) so here's a mix of both:
Saga
Outcast
The Wicked + The Divine
Deadly Class
Supreme: Blue Rose
Pretty Deadly
The Walking Dead
Revival*
Black Science*
Young Avengers*
The Runaways*
The Sandman
Astonishing X-Men
Anything by Paul Pope/Craig Thompson/Jillian Tamaki/Dave McKean/Marjane Satrapi
*Titles I feel like a lil shit recommending since I have yet to read them, but I hear they're really good!
Enjoy!! :)

is ask.fm worth making or do you tend to think of as a narcissistic website?

It's narcissistic but HELLA fun! What have you got to lose

We were batchmates in Zobel, and you seem reaaaally really cool... But we've never really met. Hahah artsy people are just so cool.

Why thank you! I'm not that cool tho, you didn't miss much when we were batchmates hahaha

Hello! Could you recommend any music/movie festivals that go around Manila? Also any museums, galleries, coffee shops? Hahaha you were the first person I thought I'd ask

Hi! Aww I'm flattered. I'm not that big on music festivals here because I've yet to go to one but the ones I know of are Wanderland, Fête de la Musique, and Malasimbo. As for film fests, you should really buy tickets to Cinemalaya in August, and we have International festivals too - you just missed French and Japanese, the Italian one is happening right now at Shang, and Greenbelt 3 is holding a Spanish one later this year.
Museums and galleries: the National Museum which is GREAT, Vinyl on Vinyl and Kanto at The Collective, LRI Design Plaza has so many pretty things, and my favorite (though it's not really in Manila) is the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo! That place is beautiful. I would totes get married there HAHAHA
Coffee shops: Yardstick in Makati and Wildflour in BGC are two musts!!!

- Clinique (Dramatically Different Gel Moisturizer, City Block SPF 25, Chubby Sticks)

- Maybelline (Clear Smooth Aqua Gel Foundation, ALL their mascaras)
- Revlon (Balm Stains)
- MAC (ALL their lipsticks and Paint Pots omg)
- Stila (Smudge Pots, Convertible Color)

what are your latest splurges? :-)

I bought This Is How You Lose Her and Gone Girl from Fully Booked (they were on sale!)

What do you think are the world’s three greatest cities?

New York, Paris, & Barcelona. Not that I've ever been to those places but I damn sure plan to :)

do you own a vinyl player? do you know where i can get one? :)

Yes! We ordered ours online and it cost about $150. There are pretty turntables like ones from Crosley at Heima in Makati but they're pricey. Unless you really want to invest in a new one, you could buy a second hand turntable from those small audio stores in Makati Square and those are much cheaper

i want to learn how to draw as well, but i have no prior knowledge or skill. any advice? :)

Practice sketching real-life objects or people, buy a how to draw book, keep a sketchbook and draw in it every day, and look for inspiration — tumblr.com/spotlight/illustrators is a good place to start.

do you play any sport?

Nope! I did swimming, basketball, and cheerdance when I was younger but apart from boxing and skateboarding every now and then I'm pretty unathletic nowadays

any advice for a beginner in drawing? rn i know how to draw heads and facial features but i can't seem to make them look real haha they all look cartoony........ :-(

Best way to kick the cartoon-y drawing syndrome is by drawing from life! It's really important. I used to HATE it, but you really have to force yourself to try — my drawing prof once said that when it comes to drawing the human figure, you can't develop your own style without first training your eyes to look at people in full detail and using your memory as reference to sketch it on paper. So practice looking at photographs of people and sketching them as accurately and quickly as possible. Do this everyday for about 2 weeks and you'll notice that the human figures you draw ~without~ a reference have greatly improved. It's really good training!

what are the things u do to increase ur productivity?

I'm big on making to-do lists on Post-Its, and power naps! And making deals with myself like the crazy cat lady I am. Like, you can oooonly go make yourself a grilled cheese after you finish this paper.

any plans after college? like will u study again either here in metro manila or abroad?

I'm praying to get a graduate degree abroad, after I finish college here :)

where did u get ur desk lamp? i'm looking for something like that for my study desk hehe

I'm actually not sure haha it's been in my house for a while

i need your help, gaby. how do i get over my insecurities?

I had a pretty long answer to a similar question about 48 questions down, and the gist of it was: try to stop acknowledging your insecurities, and ignore things in your life that remind you of them. Instead of beating yourself down, keep focusing on everything you like about yourself, and keep in mind that everyone has insecurities. I used to have pretty bad insecurity issues, and I can't say they're completely gone, but I feel a lot better about the way I look now because I shot myself down every time I criticized my own appearance. It all starts with your mind, your self. Sort yourself out, everything, everyone else in your life will follow and before you know it, you'll be blooming!
Anyway, I said a lot more on that answer I mentioned so look at it if you want. PS - The TV series My Mad Fat Diary addresses insecurity issues SO SO WELL. It is so relatable and so spot on, and watching all 12 episodes really helped me out. So go watch that :) And feel better okay!!! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions :)

Do you like your course or do you ever plan to shift?

It's alright but I really want to specialize in film - it was my 2nd choice and I kinda regret not making it my 1st in the first place. I've been planning to shift since last year but that hasn't been looking too good lately.
