I've read some right shite from authors who have 50k followers and millions of reads and then some amazing art from smaller wattpaders and think eh???? what's going on here then? I feel like if you're not writing what everyone else is, people scoot over your work and don't even care and I'm not gonna lie to you and say I've not fallen into that trap in the past of wanting to write similar things as others to even get some kind of reading base. It's a horrible.
As I've said a million times before, I couldn't care at all about the reads etc on any of my work. My first series was called Bad Boy Vibes and it was a 3 book series and I had a total of 89 million reads roughly on all three books put together. I deleted them, and you know why? Because I started the series when I was thirteen and my writing has changed enormously since then. My old work was so bad I cringed. I have since revised and published this series under a new name with a brand new slate and they are now books I am proud of. I would've kept those books up if I was hooked on the reads, votes etc I got from them, but it really isn't all what I care about. I want to put out work I am proud of.
I guess for anyone reading this random mess of thoughts that I hope you can at least understand the way I feel and that I've thought of giving up and closing my account more times than I should've.
For anyone else, please let me know what you think about wattpad now & if you think I've not mentioned something.
I hope nobody feels offended or anything, I love everyone and wouldn't want to cause any offence! You all mean the world and I wouldn't have had the amazing support and encouragment if it wasn't for all of you! xx

I've seen some of your recent posts on wattpad and I get how you feel! It's changed for sure!!!

1/2:
aah, do you know what? I've really been struggling. I've also been avoiding this for ages, not sure how to respond to it.
I write for the only purpose that I enjoy it, but it can also be dishearting as well.
I joined wattpad in 2011, YES THAT LONG AGO (I feel so old) and I read on the site for a while before I posted anything. I was thirteen when I began posting and god, without sounding like a broken record, things were so so so much different. Wattpad in itself felt like a different place. It was happier, positive place and I was able to use my writing as a form of escape. I come onto Wattpad now and it's all about how much money people can make, how many reads or followers you have and if you're in a 'clique'. I've got so many mixed opinions on this because as other writers, I've been offered fantastic opportunities to make some cash for my writing, but it's others I see who don't tell their readers that they're getting something out of it and not being transparent.

I'd like to think I'm a friendly person. I had some great friends on here, but for the last year, I've been ignored. Many of the people I used to talk to, now ignore me and I've been replaced by someone better aka. a bigger wattpad star.
When did wattpad get like some cliche american chic-flick??
I put so much energy into the people I care about, but nearly all the time I feel I shouldn't have. It just makes me feel crap. I know it sounds ridiculous, but when did a number define how you can act around people? I also want to point out this isn't everyone!!
I guess what I'm trying to say is that, of course, we all change over time - hell my writing has and I'm bloody glad. But when I read how some people COMPLAIN about their followers who are dedicated readers, and I mean being sheer rude. I understand how a reader saying 'please update' after you have just posted can be annoying, but at the end of the day, they enjoy your work. What would you rather? They comment about how awful it is? The comments back to these readers I've seen make my blood boil. There is no excuse for being rude, not now, not ever.
SECOND PART COMING

Any advice on deciding between First PoV or Third PoV for a Mystery / Thriller. It is based around family.

depends I think on whether it's told from one person's point of view or multiple. If more than one, I'd choose third pov because it's easier to write with, however, first pov is much more personal and thoughts can run better. it depends on your characters love.

when do you think is the right time to be in a relationship?

when you feel in yourself you want it and you are ready for it

do you want people IRL to know that you write? do you want to reveal who you are to people on the internet?

nobody knows and I really like it that way. its my thing, I dunno.

Any tips for editing? (please & thank you)

half and half your screen with the old verses the new word documents. It helps when re-writing or editing as you can spot mistakes. either that or download good editors such as grammarly or free online ones.

How much hate do you receive on Wattpad? How do you deal with it?

it's something that used to be daily, but its calmed down a lot now. I get it, of course, I do, but it's something I choose to ignore. I block or remove people who want to hate. I don't let it get them anywhere.

Has any of your work been featured? If so, how long did it take to become featured? Just submitted my first almost-completed novel. Eek! [Mass send; would love to hear your stories! xx You're all my biggest WP inspirations!]

Yes it has and I'm not sure my love, sorry :-) xx

Opinions, please! Struggling to decide what to write my Myst/Thriller in! First or Third? It's a murder-mystery but also connected to family and the history of the mc's family.

poss third? depends how personal you want it

Hollie! Where have you been? Your replies are so sparse and you're not active on here much anymore. Hope everything's ok.

I'm been avoiding this for a while because I'm not sure how to approach it. I have avoided ask.fm and much of my questions I've been asked for one reason. A while ago, I received shit loads of hate. I don't mean the usual everyday hate you may get, I mean it was awful. It made me hate the site and also caused me to loose touch and friends here on wattpad as I wasn't active and replying to everyone and I think people forgot about me (lol).
Anyway, I hated the site. I think right now I've been going through a period of my life where I'm all about positivity and ask.fm just wasn't giving that to me.
I am returning after contacting ask and blocking the person or people (I don't know) sending me the shit and I hope you all welcome me back, I want to be here!
Feel free to pop up and chat, I love talking!
To all of my friends, I didn't reply to sorry lovelies, I didn't mean to leave you hanging. You know who you are. Thanks for being there these past few weeks. X

Opinions about this 'Imagines' book by Wattpad? It's stupid. Like all FF. Okay, fans can write them; but to actually PUBLISH a book about it? (includes anna todd; it doesn't change the fact we all know Hardin is supposed to be Harry) #privacyplz Celebrities are humans; not robots. Not superior.

people can do what they want to love, others opinions don't matter much. I think if it works, it's a great idea. If not, cool.

tips on naming a novel?

This is literally my hardest thing when writing. I don't really have any great ones, but stick to something relevant to your story, catchy and not too long!

Any tips on doing plot twists // novel is teen fiction (mainly about learning to live after life changing event and loving yourself and sub-plot is romance) ?? And plot twist examples to get ball running/? Much love

Make them relevant. They can't be suddenly randomly sprung within the story, they've got to have some sort of build up: i.e: a character who is introduced as a friend's parent who is in the scenes reguarly is found out to be actually the FBI agent trying to kill the main character (bit extreme, but you get the idea)

So I'm getting very emotional over a chapter I'm writing. It's never happened to me before; has it happened to you? Have you become emotional over a chapter while you're writing it?

chasingsunsets’s Profile PhotoTash
Yes!! Especially chapters that mean something to me or incorporate a lot from my real life. Sometimes I have to take a break from writing them. So yes, I'm an emotional wreck when writing.

Do you think people/characters (female) can have male FRIENDS (nothing more) I'm worried that if I introduce a male character to my story - as just a new friend -- people will automatically assume that they will end up together; which is not the case.

YES OF COURSE
in fact I think its great
