What does a design director do? What is your schedule like? What have you learnt at riot games that you haven't learnt before at all?

I usually describe my job as 3 main things:
1) I am ultimately accountable for the design quality of League.
2) I work with the other leads to determine the overall strategy and big bets for League.
3) I manage the design department.
My schedule, sadly, is mostly meetings. I meet regularly with all the designers and a lot of other coworkers to discuss ideas and work through problems. I sit through stakeholder review meetings where a team talks about their progress on a particular feature or product. I sit in design meetings where we try to tackle tough problems. I recruit. I deal with HR issues. I occasionally get to teach. Other designers spend more time implementing specific changes or playtesting, and if I can carve off more time from my schedule, that is what I would like to do. I do the occasional social media posting (like this) when a meeting gets cancelled or from home.
I like the question about what I have learned here that I didn't know before. I've learned a lot. I'll think about it more.

The way you tag answers with so many different categories on tumblr is so cute.

I know they are wildly inconsistent and that sometimes it's #leagueoflegends and sometimes it's #league of legends. Maybe I should just give up. Clearly I don't know what I'm doing. But I have this dream that at some point the site has 10,000 answers and people might only want to read the ones about squids, or high-level D&D or maya pyramids.

You going to be on radio silence until Jan? Xmas and all that

I move some of these questions over to there. For this particular answer, I'll probably post some over the break since I'll have plenty of free time for once. It won't be as easy to ask other Rioters when I don't know an answer, which will reduce my ability to address those topics.

Just because someone is "playing to win" when they want to duo mid or roaming Singed counterjungle support shouldn't put *any* burden of proof/flexibility on the rest of the team. If the rest of the team doesn't think it is acceptable most games, the community has spoken.
