Topic of consistency in knowledge: To me, it seems like there's a 'failure' from the design team if you can't be consistent. If you guys feel like a champion needs to be gated by a lack of knowledge, it seems like there's something inherently wrong with their kit that they a clarity based gate.
I think that's true if it feels like a barrier to entry, like a "you must be this high to play this champion." But there is a ton of nuance to really master a champion. You learn what to do in very specific situations that may not occur that often. Any way you slice it, there is a ton of information you have to remember and manage. Some of that information seems so basic that we should just offer. For example, we show you your own cooldowns. We could not show those and just ask players to try and remember when the time has elapsed, but that seems dumb. Tracking other information starts to cross that line. We could sparkle minions when your next attack would definitely be a last hit, but that feels like dumbing the game down. It's a very subjective line though, which is why I like to calibrate our opinions with that of players all the time.
