I'm not a feminist because feminism is just plain wrong. How do you axpect people do be feminists when it pushes men down! Feminism is a piece of shit and nonsense. feminists make the world a bad place.
Initially this really pissed me off. But I can't blame you for not knowing what feminism really stands for when celebrities and other people in positions of power proclaim that they aren't feminists because 'all feminists hate men and think women are superior to men'. Feminists ask for equal pay for equal work, not for more pay than their male counterparts. We ask for legal control of our bodies and the ability to challenge ideas regarding rape and domestic violence. We ask for equality for all women, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, sexuality or socio-economic status–not at the expense of men, but with the help of men.
All feminists agree that society is patriarchal/male dominated but there are a number of distinctive feminist perspectives. The media portrays ALL feminism as radical. That's just not fair. It's a skewed representation of reality, because most feminists want patriarchy to be done away with, rather than have it replaced by matriarchy.
Furthermore, stereotypes harm men too, particularly the ideas that men have to be tough and hide their emotions. In short, feminism isn’t working against men but both for and with them.
Feminists make the world a better place. Without us, who would challenge sexism, sex-role stereotyping, and discrimination based on sex? Girls and women are socialised to believe that we are inferior to men. We are made to interiorise patriarchal ideology. Feminism aims to improve the position of women in society, not tear men down.
