Today I learn about Abraham weld statistical technique. It was story during world war 2, many bomber planes hit by bullet, many of planes that survived had returned into base. Then Abraham weld hired by government to studied about it.
Study about where to put extra armor for better protection. Planes was object of study. They calculate most place that hit by bullet, then they put extra amor based on data, on wing, on tail etc then planes became heavy and less maneuverable
Then Abraham weld said that was wrong conclusion because they made studied based on survivor planes, and many planes that had shoot down did not part of study. So the conclusion is many planes which had survive was did not hit on engines, pilot cockpit and fuel tank. It does mean put armor in place that did not hit by bullets on survivor planes. They called it survivor biased. Abraham weld is excellent statistician.
