"It's for attention" they said. But they don't see her every night, wondering why she's still here. They don't know the thoughts that go through her head, do I have a purpose? Should I take the easy option? Would anyone notice? Would they care? They don't know what goes on behind closed doors, they don't know how much pain she/he's going through. They probably don't want to, they probably never will. That smile of his/hers hides a million tears, it's easier than explaining what's wrong! No one will ever understand what they're going through, unless they're going through it themself.
They fake a smile so no one notices something's going on, so no one notices they're falling apart and close to the edge. They're desperate to get help but, they don't know who to speak to!, no one will take them seriously, and they're scared that no one cares. Exiting this would be the easy option, so they won't have to deal with it anymore, so they are finally at rest.
Everyday+every night they sit whilst a million thoughts go through their head!, whilst a little voice whispers "just go no one wants you". It's like the whole world is falling on your shoulders! But yet no one understands. They'll find a blade, a knife, a bit of broken glass, a lighter. They will use anything they have, to burn or cut. It oozes the pain, it drains them. It makes them feel better in an instant, but all they'll want to do is do it over and over again! Then it becomes an addiction, every night when everyone's sleeping they'll be awake thinking. Taking the blade or lighter out and harming themselves!
"All they want is attention!" I'm pretty sure if we wanted attention we wouldn't wear hoodies to cover it, we wouldn't wear lots of bracelets, we wouldn't wait until no ones around. No self harm is not a joke, it's not for attention it's a call for help. So next time before you make a comment on what someone looks like, how they dress, or where they're from remember, you don't know what they're going through, you haven't walked in their shoes!, that one little comment can make their mind up, and they'd be gone forever.
