How broad do you consider "religion" to be? As in do you include people who worship flags and lines on maps as being religious?
Mmm, that's a good question. I consider "religion" (at least in the context I used it in) to include the worship of a deity as dictated by something - whether that be a person or a book.
However, people who worship flags may be subject to the same type of 'brainwashing' as if a person is worshipping the flag of their home country, they should realise that they're of that nationality by chance and there's not much pride to be had in that.
