Are you able to play any musical instrument?

No. My brothers and I were sort of 'assigned' an instrument each: Piano, classical guitar, and violin. But I sucked at it and I think I've traumatised my piano teacher into becoming a reluctantly-masochistic Erika Kohut. She'd get so frustrated with me (this was before three Dutch shrinks separately decided I'm ADHD and one of the three decided I needed Ritalin). I can still feel her contempt whenever I think of her, I think she genuinely disliked me for being so slow... Maybe she thought I was wasted her precious time with my lack of talent, I actually remember feeling guilty for even showing up at class. Although I do love the piano, I really do! Whatever, I'd rather listen to Irish boybands anyway. LOL! Then, later, I kind of wished I played a string instrument although I like listening to percussions/brass, but then I saw "12 Years A Slave" (which I strongly dislike and found distasteful as a person if colour) and that sort of ruined it for me—I'm working on reversing the damage that film did to me. 🎻

What's your go-to karaoke song?

I don't normally sing at karaoke, but I'll tell you a story of how I sang my first karaoke song (I normally just sit around and lounge at karaoke places when with friends—this was seriously my maiden song) in November last year: A friend-of-a-friend saw an Instagram teaser trailer I made for "Naked Mole Rats In The World of Darkness" where I sang to "Stand By Your Man" (Tammy Wynette). And he insisted I knew how to sing, although I tried to explain it's just "voice acting" (which is an entirely different thing from actual 'singing'). He took us to karaoke and made me sing it. I feel like such a fraud. I can't sing. LOL! 🎤 https://instagram.com/p/9vGjFhI2O0/

Would you rather be a lonely genius, or a sociable idiot?

Look. Even if I were an idiot, I still wouldn't be "sociable" anyway, okay? There's no point in it (besides that would just make me insufferable, wouldn't it? If I were an idiot my best contribution to the world would be shutting the hell up—then again most idiots are too stupid to realise how stupid they are, so it's anyone's guess). So just let me live in the fanfic AU where I'm a brilliant goat with a 130+ IQ already.

What do you splurge on?

Premium earphones. 🎧 I've been this way since my Discman days. I mean have you tried those standard-issue ones you get from Apple products? They're atrocious. They're not only very crass-sounding, they're too big for me and the edges always hurt/scratch my earlobes. So I always buy earphones separately, I love the noise-cancelling ones that stuff your ears with rubbery stuff (always in-ear and I'm not sure how I feel about headphones, still). I'm not even talking about fancy brands like B&O, just normal electronics brands—but the ones on the higher-ends of their lines (so it's not like I'm buying Lexus earphones, they're still very much Toyota but I'm buying the earphone equivalents of Crown/Corona/Celica as opposed to Corolla/Yaris—if that makes sense). I'm partial to Philips. 🌷 But they're also kind of rare, often out-of-stock although they're much more common now. I used to have to buy them at SOGO (the Plaza Senayan store, near the escalators). Sometimes when my earphones break and I need new ones, I buy non-premium ones because they're out-of-stock or the store doesn't carry them. My current ones aren't premium, they're very yellow and they look like a pair of lemons. 🍋 I mean I have a soft spot for them because it's a very cute pair of earphones, but they're painful. The bass is near nonexistent, the other day I accidentally played something too loud and it literally felt like my eardrums were being pierced by a blunt needle. But I always buy anything I can get my hands on when my current ones break (usually it's a problem with the cables). I'm not even going to give you a pretentious artsy excuse like "I can't live a day without music" to that, the real reason I always have to have earphones with me is because certain noises give me anxiety (certain aspects of Indonesian humour/variety television programmes—and the way they're passive-aggressively indirectly spoken/delivered specifically... Especially when I'm walking or using public transport, I'd rather not hear people verbally sexually harassing me lest I snap) and I muffle/drown those sounds with music to mitigate the anxiety. I currently want Philips' CitiScape St. Germain thing (the purple one). Hopefully some store still has them in-stock. 🎶 Also, I really appreciate quality earphones for listening to my "goat baaa" mp3's during meditation which I find immensely soothing...

Would you follow the white rabbit?

I am the white wabbit—and late as hell to the party. But I do march to the beat of my own drum, if that's what you're asking. 🐰🐰🐰

What perfume are you wearing today?

Coco Mademoiselle (I used to wear Vera Wang Princess for evenings and DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom during the day—lately I've been warming up to Armani Code which I got as a gift too). You'll see me wearing all of those a lot more often from now on, because I just saw Boyzone in concert and I don't want to take the concert bracelet thingy off (showering would require me to take it off—no biggie! The French royals used to never shower, either... And that's how perfume was invented). 🍀

What things should you never tell your parents?

That you want to be an actress. LOL. They'll just change the topic and start talking about boys and aid work instead.

Do you like to act spontaneously or plan things? Why?

Always planned. And then I always get distracted by shiny things along the way.
