what was wrong with sao the in your opinion
I can't really comment on Sword Art Online 2 because I dropped it 5 episodes in but with the first season...
Kirito and Asuna are extremely one dimensional, neither of them come across as been likeable, there's a complete lack of character development and their relationship is forced and the anime suffers from it.
Introducing characters to have no development whatsoever then killing them off or having minor input into the series.
Fanservice which isn't an issue in itself it's just cringeworthy in sao.
The whole idea of "If you die in the game you die irl" is obsolete by the second half of the season and was probably one of the most interesting ideas within the plot.
The second half of season one is a complete shit show. Weird incestious crush between Kiroto and his sister/cousin, random r*pey antagonist appears from nowhere, Asuna is even more useless than before.
This is pretty much what I can remember because I watched it when it first aired and I haven't touched it since so I probably missed some stuff I have problems with.
