Epicurus , the Greek philosopher believed that two things that destroyed human happiness is fear of death and fear of divine punishment by the gods(or God). Do you agree or disagree? Explain please

Idk

No no. Lol I'm not against your beliefs at all.i actually agree with some of what you said. And I didn't mean to twist your words. I'm anonymous cuz lately someone has been reporting me on ask.fm. So I have to remain anon lol

Lol okay well just to let you know I think that maybe you shouldn't ask other people what their opinions are on beliefs and what not because I think that it influences your personal beliefs and that one should think for themselves. But if that's what you want then I hope you find your answer!

This might sound weird but, this actually has nothing to do with you lol. I'm pondering about ethics, morals, religion, philosophy, and cultures and i needed someone to reflect their opinions about these issues so i can see where i stand on such issues. Lol

Lol oh okay then I'm glad to be of help I guess but you could've contacted me without having to be anonymous. And I don't get why you keep questioning my beliefs so heavily, if I don't believe in something or do believe in something I don't need to be questioned about why I believe in this or that and for someone else to twist my words around and say I don't believe in people having morals or something .

Oh ok. I didn't mean to twist your words. I just though that was what you meant. Sorry about that. But don't you believe that there are certain actions that are morally wrong, even if it doesnt harm anyone physically? For example, pornography, gambling? Btw, I hope I'm not bothering you lol

Yes there are certain actions that are morally wrong. And to tell you the truth I don't see a lot wrong with pornography. As long as everyone is getting tested, there aren't drugs involved, and that no one is getting hurt I don't see anything wrong with it besides people that actually believe that that is how sex is or that men being dominant over women is normal and okay. Gambling, I don't know too much about but I do think that taking risks and becoming addicted to money is somewhat of a bad thing so I'm not sure how I feel about that. I think a lot of addictions aren't good, and some are just people going overboard with their interests. And you're not bothering me, I just don't see how asking me this over ask.fm is helping you in any way or what your point is in asking me any of this lol.

Ah,I see. You believe humans should express their feelings, both positive or those that are perceived as negative, correct? And you believe that supressing natural desires and feelings is not right? Basically youre saying that there should not be a set of rules defining what is good/bad, right/wrong

No, I believe that people should always aim to be better people, every individual should try to become a better them. Including being good to others, making good choices, being a good person with good morals. Don't twist my words around just because I don't go deep into what I feel is wrong or right. I'm just saying that people shouldn't be punished for natural feelings or to be judged on things that don't even hurt the general public.

Ok. We will stick to the topic of Christianity then. I understand what you mean when you say "almost all natural things are condemned". Youre probably speaking of sexuality, lust, anger, jealousy, etc. Or natural human feelings?

Yes all of those, and Im pretty sure there are plenty of other things also but you get what I mean.

May I ask why you believe religion causes problems? Give me some examples please. Btw, I used to be a jehovahs witness, so I believed in the bible, not the church/pope. I left my faith because I saw many errors in the bible, but I still believe in God. Right now, I'm studying the Qur'an.

I feel that it causes problems because of how everything one individual does they are condemned to some kind of overly dramatic punishment. I don't know a lot about other religions so please do not try and correct me because I already am acknowledging I do not have a lot of knowledge on other religions; but personally Catholicism/Christianity, almost everything that is normal to human nature is condemned.

I respect your opinion. However, I disagree when you say religion causes problems in the world. People who manipulate religion cause problems, not religion in itself. True, the church is very corrupt.,did you know that pork and alcohol, Christmas, Halloween, and birthdays are a sin in the bible?

Okay well I believe that religion in general causes problems, BUT the morals such as being just a good person all around and being good to others is the positivity and guidance that people need. Religion is a very controversial topic so I usually don't bring it up unless it is brought up.

What is your religion? And if you do have a religion, do you truly believe in it, or are you just following your religion because of family or peer pressure? Or do you have a religion but you're not educated about it at all? Go deep on this answer please.

I have grown up in a Catholic family my whole life, and I even went to private school because my grandma encouraged it. As I've gotten older of course I have become influenced by information regarding the church and what they believe, when I was younger I was just taught that ya know; God and Jesus are the saviors of the world and that I must follow their commandments and the bible or else I would go to hell lol. But now that I'm older, in my opinion, it is nonsense. I don't feel that I need to follow rules A, B, and C to consider myself a good person or for someone to judge me by my mistakes and condemn me to hell. I am not religious, I feel that religion in general(not just Catholocism) causes a lot of problems. I don't have a problem with people identifying themselves with a religion, but as of right now in my life I do not identify myself as anything because I do not 100% believe everything that the Catholic Church stands for.
