Today I found out that I was cut from a show that I really really wanted to be in. The worst part is that all of my friends were cast except me. I feel horrible and untalented and like I want to give up. Any advice? I hate feeling like I'm just not good enough. How do I be happy for my friends?

Chances are this is not the only show you'll ever be in. Although its difficult to have perspective on this, we have to remember that one show when we are young can't ruin our future or career. If it's possible, consider doing stage crew or helping out back stage for this show.

okay sorry to bother you again, last question, should i belt/mix the higher notes at the end of fine fine line or should i be more in my head voice just to stay in her characters voice considering its a character song, sorry to bother you again!

Character voice for character song! Break legs! You'll do fine!

the theatre asked me to perform a song from the musical, im going for Kate Monster in Avenue Q, should i go with theres a fine fine line or mixtape? any other suggestions?

I definitely would do A Fine, Fine Line.

I was hoping for some advice. So I've never done theatre before, but I really want to start, but I'm 16. Is it too late for me to start? If not then what should I do to start?

It's never too late! I think the best thing to do is look into whether or not your school has a theatre program and if they do, get involved! If not, most towns and cities have community theatre programs. Google is your best friend! Start looking for local auditions! Best of luck!

Where do you buy/what is Throat Coat? Is it good for your voice? What does it do?

It's a tea that promotes vocal health. You can get it at your local supermarket. I get mine at Kroger in the organic market section. It numbs the vocal chords slightly and leaves your voice feeling smooth and refreshed. It's not the best tasting, but it's worth it.

Oh okay I was just wondering because I'm pretty sure the musical theatre program at U of M takes around 20 people!

Oops my bad, I mean ten girls, because they take half and half and clearly I don't exactly qualify as a boy! My bad!

Are u looking to go into acting or musical theatre

I'm not sure yet. I'd prefer musical theatre, but straight acting is more my forte.

when you were talking about the colleges you wanted to go to... what the UofM?

University of Michigan. They have a one of the best musical theatre programs in the country, but they only let in around 10 people per class.

Which do you think is more important: following the dreams your parents want for you or following your own dreams?

YOURS.

Any advice for cold read auditions?

Don't be afraid to take a different acting choice than most people would. Taking risks will pay off. Movement when you're dry reading is natural and it will look odd if there isn't any. Don't glue your face to the script. Look up and ACT.

I was offered a pretty good part in a main stage musical 4 week run, 3 months rehearsal (4 nights a week) 1 night = 4 hours. I'm not too impressed with the salary. What do you think would be a good pay for a city run production under these circumstances?

I'm not going to be the best judgement on salaries. I'm only 16. But it sounds like an amazing opportunity that a lot of actors would kill for! Take it! And good luck!

Seriously, what's the reason/logic for closing Newsies?? I mean, not just complaining bc I'm sad but like really, why?? Isn't it like really popular and stuff?? Sorry I'm like new to musical theatre but now I'm in for life but I LOVE NEWSIES WHY WHY WHY

I honestly don't know. I myself was really surprised when it announced closing. But originally, it was supposed to be a 101 performance limited engagement, but it's performed over 1,000 times! I know it's sad, but this isn't the end of Newsies! They're starting off their first national tour, which I'm lucky enough to be seeing, and I can guarantee that this isn't the end of Newsies! And who knows? Maybe in our lifetime, it'll come back to Broadway! Long live Newsies!

I loved your cover of "How 'Bout A Dance"! I just wanted to see if you have any advice on a monologue for Babette in BatB? I have an audition coming up soon and I don't want to be seen as a Silly Girl!

Thanks so much! Babette is a fun character. I think what you should do is watch a couple of people before you and see what they're NOT doing so when you go up on stage, you can really surprise the director. I'd go in to the monologue full speed ahead, with lots of energy straight away, because you want the director to notice you. Break legs and best of luck. I know you'll kill it.

Do you want to do theater in college? If so what school?

Yes. NYU, AMDA, Pace, Colombia, Northwestern, or UofM.

Why does your company do fall musicals?

I don't know...? We just do musicals in the fall and straight plays in the spring...
