O.M.G more of the kai/jongin fic please!
jongin has never been one for the stage. it's fucked up, he knows, how they are two and yet they are one. when he's in a line for another interview and exo chants their tagline, jongin always feels this pang of irony. he wonders if kai feels it too.
kai is too brash for interviews and variety shows; jongin is too shy and demure for the spotlight. no one remembers who suggested it, but somehow everyone thought it was worth a shot. the twins never existed- there has only been kai kim jongin, two entities mixed into one.
they'll get found out eventually, and it's no secret that sm is testing them out. the one who manages to adapt stays. the other... no one talks about what will happen to the other.
it's another issue when kai always smiles a bit brighter to kyungsoo, whereas jongin gravitates to luhan. the members try not to act too different to the both of them but it's hard when sides are obviously chosen. kai gets along well with chanyeol and baekhyun and tao; jongin prefers the company of yixing and sehun and kris.
maybe it's the alcohol making their lips a little looser, or it's just an accumulation of a year of hiding, but one of them, jongin can't even remember who now, makes a snide comment about the other and this is how he ends up pressed against the wall, kai's arm hard against his neck, cutting off his oxygen supply.
for the first time, jongin is scared of his brother. "kai- kai- you're choking me."
"maybe if you paid attention to dance class more than you paid attention to luhan, you would have been me," kai snarls. jongin hates the way kai twists his face into something ugly- it's his face too. this is what his face can look like too.
"my loyalties are to exo-m," jongin chokes out. it's true. the original plan was for jongin to join exo m. things would've been much different then.
"your loyalties are to exo. not exo m, not exo k, but exo." the arm on jongin's neck presses down harder. "nothing will change that."
kai's eyes are stone cold in the harsh fluorescent light of the practice room, but jongin thinks it'll never be as cold as kai's heart.
