What is gyro spiking? How is it pulled off?
It involves a ledge get up scenario. If your opponent is off the ledge and you have a gyro in your hand, then you can attempt a gyro spike.
The most basic form of gyro spike is to jump and throw the gyro down right where your opponent would be able to ledge getup, getup attack, and possible even ledge jump. Make sure you're facing away from the stage when you throw the gyro down because the direction you're facing when throwing the gyro will send your opponent in that same direction. Not sure what I mean by this? Then go to a stage with a wall, bounce a gyro off a wall and have it hit your opponent beside you. Your opponent will come to you instead of being knocked away (which is what you would assume would happen because of natural physics). Anywho, when the opponent decides to do a getup, ledge attack, or possibly a ledge jump (still testing) if you placed the gyro well, he will be knocked back off the stage. So have your booty ready and spike him!
Now you can space a gyro to where it covers a roll option, but the gyro might not knock him off the stage until higher %s. So be mindful of that.
Lastly, if you decide to go off the stage against your opp while having a gyro in your hand, you can throw the gyro down and then go to the right or left as needed and spike him there if you hit him as well.
Hope this helps!
